Any plans to have the engine sounds increase in volume when opening any of the cockpit windows? Right now the exterior sound doesn't seem to change at all. Also the flyby sounds don't seem to change depending on whether the plane is coming at you or going away from you. Thanks

Hi, Just wanted to know if there is any problem so far with the DC-6 with this new 10.50 beta run, I understand that maybe there is no support available with betas but I'm just curious, perhaps I'll do the jump to 10.50b4 later. Many thanks,

Hello, I have been flying with the PMDG DC-6, on the latest release, for the past 1 week without any problems, but since I updated the Cessna 172 SP from Airfoillabs with their latest release (V1.61), I am having the following problems with the PMDG DC-6 (for your information, I am ONLY using the AFE) : - From time to time the radio will be turned on, as expected, by the AFE, but the GPS will NOT get turned on. - the "CARB ICE SUSPECTED" message will appear as soon as I start the engine, or within 30 seconds if I start the situation in a "Ready to Taxi" mode. - when taxiing, the BMEP needles will go back and forward from 60 to 150, the fuel flow will also …

Hi, Really enjoying the DC-6 but the dust (or smoke?) animation from the wheels is almost comical. When I first saw an external camera of the plane taxiing or on a takeoff roll I thought the brakes were on fire. The effect is even there on hard surfaces and just as strong as what is seen if the plane is on gravel or dirt. I think all graphics on the plane are excellent otherwise. It's a shame that this "dust" effect IMO detracts from an otherwise great graphical presentation. Please PMDG, eliminate or at least greatly tone down the "dust". Ideally, the effect would be volume - speed sensitive and be minimal on hard surfaces, if shown at all. Thanks

Hi all, Just wanna give PMDG a big thanks for the swift and massive update! One of the new things are positional/3D-sounds, a topic raised after the intitial release - and the sounds are fantastic! Now the sounds are as good as one could possibly expect, really great. I just published a new video putting some emphasis on the new sounds, such as flyby-sounds. I also push the big bird a bit more than in my first video - where I flew from Wrangell to Stewarts 3900ft runway- landing on short mountain strip in the Italian Alps.Take a look:

Hello  I followed the download process of the new version of the DC-6 (1.10.0044 version) : Then I have executed the installer (in overwritting my precedent DC-6). I indicated the location of X-Plane on my hard drive. And everything went well. ----- But when I look at the DC-6 integrated windows panels and I look for the file contents, for example "...\X-Plane 10\Aircraft\PMDG\DC-6\Documentation\Douglas DC-6B-R2800 CB16.txt" the indicated version is "1.0" ... Question : am I in the new 1.10.0044 Version ? Thank you.

I skipped the tutorials, as I personally hate the AFE (I don't trust him :Talk to the Hand: ), and after some test and trial without reading any manual I did successfully start up the engines. I did one mistake with the first engine, overheating the carburetor air. But I learned to handle the carb levers and get temperatures between yellow and red marking, slowly increase the levers while in flight. Also I learned to adjust the cowls to get optimal cylinder temperature (if I'm right it is 200 C). I did two flights with great success, not damaging any engines. Yet a great aircraft indeed. Though I have some questions. 1. How do you reverse the propeller pitch? The red…

What causes the autopilot to spontaneously disconnect (red light on the left illuminates) ? In my case it won't stay on for more that 10 minutes and when it disconnects it throws the plane into a steep dive... I am carefully trimming before engaging, using the big black knob to steer to a VOR course, and then setting to "localizer". I have a force feedback yoke with trim switches assigned and also a Go-Flight module trim wheels; a noisy trim channel somewhere ? Any suggestions on what to watch for or how to minimize this behavior ? Thanks...

Hi, I've done some limited photo-texturing modifications to the engines, and have a new livery (Reeve Aleutian Airways) ready for upload. I think the PMDG EULA provides permission to upload these freeware modifications, provided I give proper credit to PMDG? Is this correct? One of my texture re-works got bumped at another location, and it's confused me about re-painting the DC-6's. Thanks Bill Schulz

Not sure whats going on but after the aircraft loads the engines immediately start shutting down. I've tried clearing all failures and have plenty of fuel in all tanks and if I select the before takeoff config they still shut down. Not sure what's going on, it was fine before the update.

Hello  In cruise flight, for example, if the Carb Air Temp Eng gauges (No. 315-318 on the POH Manual, page 47) indicates a value below the yellow area, I apply the necessary corrections with the 4 Carburetor Air Eng levers (No. 401-404 on the POH Manual, page 41), but if the AFE is active, it automatically lowers again the 4 levers at full down, which lowers the temperature below the yellow sector again (in white sector)... what is not acceptable for the carburetors. To solve this problem, I have to disable the AFE when he finished the current checklist and adjust the 4 Carburetor Air Eng levers to obtain a temperature value in the green sector of the Carb Air…

Hello, You might be familiar with Angelique van Campen. She has been doing some of the best in-depth reviews on X-Plane addons for quite some time. In the past she had written reviews mainly on the products of one large developer, but now she has gone independent and completely on her own writing reviews and offering them to X-Plane enthusiasts from her own new website. She has a great reputation with the X-Plane community and will study the sim manuals and aircraft very thoroughly before giving a complete and interesting review that will cover everything the average prospective flight simmer would be curious about. I have been reading and following Angelique's review…

I haven't read the whole POH manual yet, but gradually take my time. But I am going through the checklist and try some buttons and switches. When I move the bar for the Emergency Instrument Power I get a sort of vacuum cleaner sound that stays on even if I turn the switch to its normal position. Then I tried to disengage it by disconnecting battery and ground power but the sound keeps running. Is that kind of normal behavior to expect when switching emergency instrument power ? Just curious thats all, and keep digging into the systems....

When I started to run the tutorials I found loading the scenarios did nothing. The scenario files are present in the documentation folder, but selecting LOAD has no effect. It just makes the scenario popup disappear. For info, each of the two scenario files has 1150 lines of text.

Probably dumb questions but I couldn't find it addressed in anything so forgive my ignorance but is the Cloudmaster compatible with the Steam version of X-Plane? And does it use the same operations center as the 777/NGX? -Patrick Kazmierczak

Hey Team, I really enjoy flying this plane. I really do. However, today I came across a "strange" behaviour that most probably is not strange at all, but first things first. Flying from SBSP to SBRF, FL 210, about 90.000 lbs, about one third of distance travelled. Engine was set up according to provided performance data and I just switched from the ALT-MAIN-MAIN-ALT fuel config to the XFEED-MAIN-MAIN-XFEED fuel configuration. Then, after a short glimpse, Eng 1 "freezed" like not moving visually (just freezing in its turning position). It was not clearly stopped, more or less freezed in its moving look. Oil temp was falling rapidly, Oil pressure also d…

Hello all: There is reference to inverters (upper and lower) in the manual and they are depicted in Figure 45, Page 99 of the POH. Three inverters, one for the Captain's Instruments and AC Radio, the other for Engine Instruments and the last one for the 1st. Officer's Instruments and Auto Pilot. I have looked and looked at all the panels and I have been unable to find these three switches. Is it possible that the airplane modeled did not have them? Roberto

Hello, I have a problem with the ADF 1 of the pilot. ---- I start from "Ready for start" configuration. => All checklists are performed by the AFE, so all is OK : Before Start / After Start / Before Takeoff / Takeoff (Dry) / Cruise. I fly in the range of an NDB beacon. - I switch the good NDB frequency (in active frequency position) on the Bendix King KR 87 ADF - On the Bendix KMA 24 Audio Panel, I switch on the "ADF 1" button : I hear the signal of the NDB, so I'm within the good range of the NDB. The problem : the needle of the ADF 1 of the pilot does not move, whatever my course from the NDB. The needle always points at 12 0'clock. Energy on the DC-6 : - B…

Hi PMDG team! I got a big issue with your cockpit shaking feature. Every time i accelerate above about 150 knots the cockpit begins to shake, when accelerating more and trying to go for 200, the whole cockpit is a cocktail shaker and there are no more then around 180 knots possible to fly. No chance to read any instruments clearly. You can see it here: Sorry for the bad quality i just filmed it with my cell. I'm using the current up-to-date version of the DC-6. In every other video i've seen there is no such thing going on. All lever axis are left on idle (actually got 9 of them, 4 throttles, 4 mixture, 1 prop) as told by the instruction manual cause i'm usin…

Hello All, So far I LOVE this plane, but I have one nagging issue. After finishing a flight, I'm unable to move the gust lock lever. It works perfectly before departure, but after parking I'm unable to get the lever to move. I've tried every combination of throttle position, prop lever position, brakes on/off, yoke position, but no luck. The mouse turns into the hand manipulator when I'm over the lever, but nothing happens when I click. Anyone else?

I have purchased the new DC-6 yesterday and installed it correctly. However. there are two strange things i observed: 1) I never was asked for my registration key (but the plane seems to work ok) 2) there is an extra layer in the cockpit view after the aircraft shows up. In form of the regular cockpit there appears another structure, very similar to the cockpit view, but less sharp and it looks simply ugly. If I were able to upload a screenshot here, I can show what I see. I am a newbie in this forum and would appreciate some help. Thank you for your ideas and suggestions Juergen Edited: I have now deinstalled and reinstalled the plane again and thi…

Hi I wonder if someone will be kind enough to help me identify the error of my ways when I attempt to do a startup from the cold and dark situation that is available in the Ramp Manager. To summarise, after positioning the DC-6 at any airport, I select cold and dark to reset everything and then follow the procedures set out in the POH as part of the Recommended Operating Procedures. After successful startup, the engines are running, the generators are on and the three inverters on the overhead panel are in the up position, however the Gyro Compass and VOR Indicator (instrument numbers 268 and 270 in the POH) do not appear to be working as expected. When I move away fro…

Hi, guys! I noticed something is definitely not right in the PMDG DC-6. The fuel quantity in the PMDG DC-6 should about 33,000 pounds instead of 20,000 pounds like in the PMDG DC-6 right now. I hope this is fixed in the next update. Thanks! Cheers Vincent Majerowicz
