WIN10 OS Forum

WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

Hi Everyone. I am in the process of building a new PC. But dreading the laborious re installations. I have acronis true image 2018-and as you will know, it has the universal restore. Does any body have any experience of using it please. The youtube videos aren't very clear. If any one has used it,can you please write a simple tutorial to start me off. In particular the part where it says to upload new hardware drivers on a USB-does it mean the same USB as where the the universal restore is or separate USB? Or is there any other simpler restore software. This will be great help- as everyone knows it will take me many hours to reload via…

Hi, I'm on my third sim now (P3d), because I was having CTD issues with FSX boxed and Steam. At one point, I wasn't getting CTD's with FSX, so I created a restore point called, "FSX Working Great" that I could go back to if I ran into issues. Unfortunately, because Microsoft deletes backups older than 90 days, it totally wiped out that restore point! I haven't had crashes with P3d, and I'd like to figure out how to back up my system in case it doesn't work. Is there any type of workaround for the 90 day limit, or should I just back it up on an external hard drive where I can go back to it if needed? Regards, Kevin Davis

In the company I work for, I assist our employees with home computer issues, since we want them to be as knowledgeable about their personal system as their use of our system. From time to time, and it has even happened to me, I have mistyped a url, or installed a program advertised as free to use on the Internet, when instead it happened to be malware, or ransomware. But unless it is a boot sector form of attack, which is very hard to accomplish under Windows 10, otherwise I would not even be writing this with all the malware, etc in circulation, one can remove ransomware, which is especially important, and keep it from holding your system hostage. If you even susp…

  18. Anyone else had some weird issues pop up after installing one the MS Patch Tuesday updates today? More specifically "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4054517)". After Windows did its thing this evening I noticed that some of my sim apps were suddenly acting up; for example UTLive would crash after 10-15 seconds, and FTX Central wouldn't launch at all. However some apps that share the same drive were working just fine (PMDG Ops Center, ChasePlane, FB Mgr, etc.) so it wasn't like it killed everything. And I know all of this stuff was working fine yesterday. Looking through the update history the one above seemed a likely candid…

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone else out there has experienced an issue with Windows 10 1803 or greater where if they have any type of joystick or game pad plugged into their computer the screensaver will not start. This issue first started with Windows 10 1803. This last weekend I nuked my entire computer and upgraded to Windows 10 1809 and installed Prepar3D v4.4 and all my addons. However I still cannot get the screensaver to start. If I unplug my joystick, rudder pedals, and gamepad the screensaver starts no problem. As soon as I plug them back in, no more screensaver. I just never starts after the allotted time period. I have a Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog …

I have survived the latest series of Windows 10 upgrades, but they are still a pain in the neck. Every time it runs, it blows away my Nvidia driver and my screen reverts to a lower resolution. I have to then uninstall Nvidia, revert to an even older driver, then use GeForce experience to upgrade to the latest driver. The process works--I get my high res screen back, but it is annoying as heck. My old system had Vista and the last upgrade of Vista blew my old system apart, putting it in an endless loop--I lost a lot of data, and the system, it could not be saved because there was no way even to boot into safe mode. IMHO, Microsoft had better get there friggin …

A very strange issue has arisen in my Win 10 system. In the file explorer I can't make a right mouse click and select new folder. If I try that the file explorer hang up (not responding). But I can select new folder in the menu bar at the top of the explorer window. Anyone who have a clue about what this could be and what to do about it.
