WIN10 OS Forum
WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

From the progressive people who're testing Windows 10, I bet there must be some who test every corner of the system, to be sure everything is to their liking. Is there anyone who knows how I can measure VAS use in Windows 10? I tried process explorer, but everything seems to have an extremely high VAS use and panning around increases VAS with 200-300MB. Looking at what other programs use and seeing that almost all use the exact same amount of well over 2GB, makes me doubt the accuracy of Process explorer... I also tried FSUIPC, but this measures extremely low VAS use and with loading new aircraft, or moving to another airport, VAS use only decreases by a lot. After a…

I'm trying the Windows 10 on my second computer, at the moment and I'm getting curious to see what it can do for my flightsim system. I read several posts that mention not to make the switch yet, but as far as version numbers are mentioned, this goes up to 10074. Has anyone tried version 10122 yet and can tell me if it will cause any serious trouble for P3D2.5?

I have been running Windows 10 for quite awhile with build 10041 - P3D, FSX, train programs, Quicken, Firefox Browsing and mail. I recently tried to update to 10074 and it fails about 25% into the Setup Process. I would gladly reinstall 10041 from the ISO disk but even that does not work though I am not sure since I just booted from it and hoped.

The following is a complete Editorial article taken from the SimFlight website today. I have uninstalled the update referred to. Quote - Editorial: That’s a bit cheeky, Microsoft! BY BOB, FRIDAY, 10 APRIL 2015 @ 14:12 Many users of Microsoft operating systems just tend to set their updates to ‘automatic’, or click install on anything ‘recommended’ or ‘important’ without looking what the update actually does. Sometimes, the result of this can be downright dangerous – updates have, in the past, disabled hardware or software and, on rare occasions, made your OS completely unusable until the ‘update’ is manually removed. Sometimes, it’s hard to work out wha…

I've had a gutful of Windows 8. Twice tonight I was on finals and both times I lost the yoke on finals. Yes, I have the yoke configured in FSUIPC with the controls turned off in FSX. I don't want to go back to Windows 7. Can anyone recommend Windows 10? I have heard that you do not suffer the dreaded joystick disconnect with it. Also, does anyone know if you can just keep updating it until the final build? Thanks John

Hi all, I am eager to get into WIN10, but whenever I am on 75% setup, the setup returns to win8.1 each time and gives me an error (0x8007000D - 0x4001C) saying something on the grounds of "The first boot worked but the second failed." (All i computer talk of course ). Can anybody help please.

Greetings, I was wondering if someone has experienced the same issue with Windows 10 running FS2004. So this is what happens after installing Windows 10 I went and installed my copy of FS2004 and then installed the 9.1 update after rebooting. Initial tests made it look like FS2004 would run fine under Windows 10, however these were flights done in the default Cessna 172. As soon as I picked the default Boeing 737, I found that the simulator would crash to desktop when loading the created flight. Furthermore these crashes occur in all default Boeing airplanes in FS2004 with Windows 10. I went and checked the Windows 10 event log and found out that the cause of all the …

I had to return to 8.1 as 10 was a little to buggy. Looks like it will be a big improvement once finished. Just to many FSX-SE and P3D v2 addons to expect that everything would install and work without issues. Cheers Steve

I have latest Windows10 ready to install. However, I want to put it on a clean SSD. Windows7 is on C: Hard-drive. Can I select which disk 10 goes to? Will 7 still be useable?

Well, I took the dive and updated to Windows 10 after reading this article on Forbes.com. Let me backup for a minute, I had Win 8.1/P3D 2.4 running flawlessly at 20 FPS with 2x5870's in Crossfire/AFR Friendly. I finally figured out the micro-stutters were caused by ULPS enabled in the registry. So back to the present, After reading the article, I couldn't resist updating to Win10. The installation took about 2 hours. I retained all my applications and I also have the ability to roll back to Win 8.1. The only caveat was my sound card wasn't working (SB X-Fi Titanium PCIe). After some tweaking, I was able to restore my 7.1 surround. Of course the first thing, I …

Obviously Windows 10 is still under development, but does anybody know if LM development plans include Windows 10? They skipped 8 and 8.1 not surprising IMO, but 10 does look promising. Thanks!

Spring of 2015 we should see the new OS. The official announcement should be this April. I'm glad most didn't bother with the failed effort Ballmer tried to push. I will say 8.1 was an improvement and it was a great effort for a tablet solution. It just needed to be more configurable for different types is uses and not have shoved Metro down our throats. They even put Metro on the server OS which made no since. We need Bill back if nothing more than to clean house in the company. Steve Ballmer left it a mess judging by this and other articles. http://www.informaIek.com/software/operating-systems/windows-9-what-we-know/d/d-id/1113422

Windows 10 combines elements of Windows 8's forward-thinking design and the familiarity and functionality of Windows 7, still the most popular Microsoft OS. According to Web traffic-tracking firm Net Applications, Windows 7 could be found on 51 percent of desktop PCs in August, compared with just over 13 percent for versions 8 and 8.1 combined. http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/microsoft-jumps-to-windows-10/
