Just saw this on youtube. Pretty comprehensive performance review between the 2 platforms. He recommends doing a clean install which I do anyway, but performance and compatibility looks good compared to the problems I had with Windows 8

Just read that M.S. has a really big catch to this 'free' roll out offer. You only have one month (30 days) to decide to keep it, or roll back. From M.S....they de-activate your W7 or W8 key on the 31 day of W10 upgrade usage, and that you can NOT roll back to your prior W7 or W8 O.S., no matter that you might have an image of your prior O.S. It appears, that M.S. deactivates (this concern has been dodged by M.S. in a direct answer) your key, after tying it into your W10 installation, and will NOT reactivate your prior O.S. past 30 days. For some unbeknown reason since updating my PC to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Ultimate everytime I run FSX it asks me to activate it, which I do. However half an hour later FSX comes to a halt and again asks me to activate it. This happens everytime I run the program. Does anyone know what might be causing the issue and how I might fix it. I also have my original Windows 7 and all of my programs backed up on a second hard drive and wonder if this might be behind the problem, eg some kind of conflict.

Hi just wondered if any of the testers out there have run it on 3 monitors and encountered any issues in general pc iuse and or in fsx? I am tempted to dive in and try it but a little voice keeps telling me to wait and see ..... Cheers Steve

Well, I just installed Windows 10 and decided to fly from KLAX to KORD tonight. As soon as I ended the time acceleration at 16X at about 500 miles out, I resumed speed to normal and it said FSX has encountered an error and it exited out. So I just lost my flight now. Do you know if there is a fix for this so FSX can work and did anyone else encounter this error? Thank you.

Using Windows 7 and everything works great for me. However, I'm reading that Windows 10, due out later in the month as a FREE UPGRADE, will work well with FSX. My questions are these: Should I upgrade? Will I have to RE-INSTALL FSX, or will Windows 10 recognize it and all the addons I have? Will there be a performance increase? Will it work flawlessly with DX10? Have any of you used the Beta version of this OS or do you have an educated opinion about this upgrade as it pertains to our simulator? Stan

As many of you, I clicked on the Windows Icon on the bottom right of my screen to get the invitation to download Windows 10. TODAY I got the "go ahead" to download it if I choose. I downloaded it on my office laptop today (took about 40 minutes), and when I started using it, it was very cool and easy to use. I really liked it. But on my HOME computer, where FSX resides, I'm hesitating. I almost can't resist clicking on the download button. I think I'll be OK, but I'm a little apprehensive. So, finaly we ´re in the new oficial O.S. BUT as Windows 8, Flight 1 DRM still don´t work. Just checked. :o So, LevelD767, ALS Flanker, Mustang, another company addons, etc.... etc... WILL NOT work on Win10. Not because the addon itself, but because the old Flight1 DRM syem (The ani-piracy thing). I really hope Flight1 correct this as soon as possible, because their windows7 public WILL GO DOWN fast now. Addons that only work in windows 7 will be put off the market. Win10 is fast and is fully compatible with FSX-SE and P3D2.5. I know because i´m running them without a glitch here. Just food for thought. I just spent four plus hours downloading and installing Win 10. When I tried to run FSX, it loaded my last saved flight but I could "Not" change settings, aircraft, or even exit without rebooting the entire computer. Also my legacy ATI 4650 video drivers were being hijacked by what ever Win 10 deemed as current for my system. That made the video look like trash. Then I made my second mistake of the day and removed FSX so that I could do a clean re-install of this program. When FSX would not install in the updated Win 10, I said enough and rolled back to my Win 7 Home Premium. So far, my system appear to be OK except that now I get a error code 1603 which stops FS…

What would be the best way to upgrade to Windows 10? Can I update from Windows 7 and does everything work properly, or do I need to do a complete reinstall with Windows 10?

I've got Windows 10 installed and mostly it works fine, but I'm having two very annoying issues that I cant seem to fix... The first is the long loading of files before they open. A simple Notepad text file takes about 20-30 seconds to open and an installer takes 1-2 minutes to open. This is very nasty, since I've got loads of addons to install and it's seriously slowing me down. The other problem is that when I want to move my mouse, or a window to my second monitor, it keeps getting stuck on the border between the two monitors. Every time I have to take a run-up with my mouse and 'smash' the window into the edge of the screen, to be able to move it to the other …

Hi All. When I had Win 7 installed and used DSR via the Nvidia Control panel it worked brilliantly. Set it to 4x and although the text was small the AA was greatly improved. Since clean installing Windows 10 I haven't had the same success. It shows up in the control panel and in the resolution in P3D. However when using a higher resolution nothing changes. Are we aware if DSR is fully functional using Nvidia and its latest drivers and P3D. (I have a GTX 970) Cheers Pete

I have been looking at Windows 10 and although I have seen several folks say that they are upgrading to the Pro version. I am just wondering what advantage that the Pro may offer for Flight Sim. It sounds as though Pro is more for Business and have some tight security features which may actually make setting up new software and networks a bit harder. I am aware of the auto updates debate and at least for me it doesn't pass the "so what test". I have been running P3D and FSX on Windows 7 Home Premium for ever now. Could someone make me smart about why I might want to go to the Pro version of Win 10?

Hello guys，I'm one of the Windows insiders. I began to use Win10 at build 10041. I tried to install FSX and some Add-ons in every build and they all work well in previous version of Win10. Earlier, MS pushed the build 10240(RTM) for every insiders. But after update, I found that all add-ons by PMDG in my computer(737 and 777)can't work. After I select them in FSX, FSX will NO RESPONSE. But strangely, only PMDG's add-ons will make FSX no response, others(like aerosoft Airbus and FSLAB Concorde)in my computer will not. I tried to reinstall PMDG737 and PMDG777, but failed.Then I reinstall DX and open DX10 Preview, it also failed.My CPU is i5 4570 and my graphics is …

I did a test last night. With the current nvidia drivers, I cannot enable HDR and fullscreen in Xplane 10 under Windows 10. I am uncertain if this is related to the nvidia drivers or x-plane 10 requires some code change under DirectX 12.

As most know, Windows 10 was release today. I upgraded my laptop (the upgrade, not clean install) and all seems well (really like the OS so far). Thinking of doing it to my desktop that has my flight sim software. Has anyone performed the upgrade with P3D installed? Did it work or produce a license error? How about PMDG? I will eventually do a clean install but would like to just upgrade for the time being.

I am going to buy a new FS rig in September, when I am back in the UK on holiday for a few weeks, for FS9 'on the go' (as I travel a lot and for long periods for work and hate to be FS-less for months on end!) - may be an All-in-One, or a laptop, or a mini PC, I don't know as yet. Hi, I have tried almost everything i guess and still cant get windows 10 to accept my OEM Windows 7 64 bit Pro edition, I also just updated the product licences key once more in "my computer" and gets the genuine message from Windows. I cant seem to get iso,direct method via the Windows 10 tool to work and i dont have any icon in my taskbar to update as well. All update for Windows 7 has been installed even the Essential protection and firewall Also tried a script from notepad but that did not work either, Any suggestions ? when i try the windows 10 upgrade tool and directly wants to update it says "windows 10 cannot install correctly , please …

I noted that in WIndows 10 (and P3Dv2.5), the virtual cockpit is missing from the Just Flight Duchess. I wonder if anyone else has this issue?

I have upgraded to Win 10 and everyhting is fine except I cannot touch my Saitek Cessna trim wheel if it is plugged in. I can be sitting anywhere (desktop, MS Word, FSX, solitaire, etc.) and just move my wheel a little bit and my mouse cursor disappears on and off, the mouse starts beeping in morse code as you move it, and you loose the ability to click on anything. You need to reboot completely to fix the problem. I unplugged it and all is well. Anyone else have this issue?

Is there anyone using VAFS with Windows 10? I'm having error loading VAFS and when I try to login it crashes. Already tried to uninstall VAFS and install again, no success
