WIN10 OS Forum

WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

I am thinking of upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10. Before I do, I wanted to know if anyone was running 10 with FSX and if there are any problems. I am running FSX with Acceleration (not steam edition). Please post your experience with Windows 10 and FSX, thanks.

I have made the move to FSX:SE on a new build, using Windows 10. I'm woundering if anyone has full screen and DX9 working properly in Windows 10? For me, the loading screen for a new flight is completely black and I see no status bar. Furthermore, I am not able to use the menus at the top of the screen during a flight (by pressing alt). I can access the menu bar but selecting one of the options in the drop-down menus results in a black screen. DX9 and window mode works fine, as well as full screen mode using DX10. And yes, I have installed the DX9 package.

Hey guys, For some reason my CH Throttle quad is not letting Windows 10 monitor turn off at idle times. This happens even if I have FSX shut down. The only fix I have found is unplugging the usb from the port and that lets the monitor sleep. Any other fix that you recommend? Thanks much in advance. This didn't happen on Windows 7. Teo

I've installed Win 10 along with Fs9 on two laptops and 7 months later this still isn't fixed. The bug when you are in full screen and you it the alt key to bring up the menu and the whole screen goes dark, if you want to to get to the menu you have to go to windowed mode first. Well this just won't do. Especially if youre running FSNavigator. Win 10 basically breaks Fs9. Any fixes for thia? I'm going to cross post this in the FS9 so hope that's ok. I need to find an answer to this.

Hi All, Right now I am running FSX on a Win 7/64 machine with no particular problems. Am debating whether or not to switch to Win 10 but am concerned that it may result in problems with my addons. I use Saitek yoke, throttles, pedals, multipanel, and radio panel, plus many aircraft addons (including PMDG NGX), ORBX scenery, AS Next, Track IR, and EZDOK. Would appreciate any advice from those who have made the switch and what problems they may have experienced. Sure would hate to mess up my setup and be sorry I switched. Also, is there any improvement in FSX with Win 10. Thanks for any advice. Jim

  8. I'm grounded. The PC's on blocks. I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10. Almost immediately getting rapid fan whir and shutdowns. Tried everything. Microsoft tweaked it, finally suggested a reset. Did it and lost everything in the process. Spent hours backtracking to get the system functioning again - finally roll out the Carenado on Prepar3d v3 with the Saitek controls and panels....and suddenly - whiiiiiiir - out it goes. Now Microsoft tell me I need to reinstall - but my OS was pre-installed when purchased, which means contacting the original dealer to get the disk. Also not even sure it's going to fix it as suspicious of the USB situation or the Saiteks. I'm at a loss wha…

As I'm going to upgrade my system with new components and fresh install of W7-Ultimate, I'm just wondering if W10 is now fully compatible with P3D and it's add-ones, meaning no troubles and lack of compatibility. I use PMDG, GEPRO, UTX, REX4TD, ASN FlyTampa and many others - too many too mention. Thank you in advance

I have windows 10 pro version 1511 os build 10586. I had problem with the Quadrant before but then after an update of win 10 fixed the situation. Then I had problem with my Saitek Multipanel spad didn't work well, and I after I discoverd that even if you have UAC off it would block any writing. So installed on the C drive cure the problem I even try spad.next but more problem not seeing the radio panel. So know the the quadrant the trim the multipanel the radio work but not the Yoke. I got a message of Code1 and Code28 and it can't install any drive to use it. I saw on madcatz new driver but upon install in admin mode but get stuck when you need to plug it. …

Congrats have to go to the new Windows 10! Now that they have all of the bugs worked out! Switched to Windows 10 for about 2 weeks and went back to Windows 7. But, it was interesting for those 2 weeks, especially with FSX! Cheers, Jim

  12. Hello, This one has me stumped a bit. I could not find anything about it on the fora. I have several peripheral's and game controllers. Saitek controllers etc. But also a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. Works perfectly but after upgrading to Windows 10 my secondary fire button (set up for changing view category) also opens the windows start menu. I have no idea as to how to cure this. It's a bit annoying. Anyone with the same experience and perhaps a pointer to a solution how to get rid of this behaviour  Thanks very much in advance! Rob

Hey guys, been wondering about it for a while now, have googled but didn't find. Does anybody know what airport is represented in one of those stock Windows 10 lockscreen ? I mean that screen where you see that doubledecker plane wing and and island group where you can distinguish an airport. It's not Sint-Maarten that's for sure, but I guess it's somewhere in the Carribean too ? Anybody please enlighten me :-) Thanks

I have just fitted a Sandisk 960Gb SSD but have a Windows 7 64-bit Pro OS on another SSD( a Samsung Evo PRO 256Gb) which is currently my C:\ drive. Is there a way to direct the Windows 10 set-up to install the new OS into that Sandisk which is on drive O:\ ? I do not want to delete the existing Windows 7 OS on the current SSD. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

  15. Finally what for my system is set of what so far appear to be problem free Saitek drivers for Windows 10 for the Cessna Pro Flight Yoke and Rudder Pedals. Learned of these updated drives through a flight instructor at a nearby GA airport where they were having the same issues as me. These drivers are available via the Downloads section on Saitek.com. They have a digital signature of 11-6-2015, but were only posted for download about 10 days ago from what I was told. The driver versions I found, downloaded, and installed are now so far are working without issues. They are: Pro_Flight_Cessna_Yoke_7_0_47_1_x64_Drivers Pro_Flight_Cessna_Rudder_Pedals_7_0_…

  17. Dear all, This week, my Windows 10 auto-updated itself to the newest version (the so called "november update") and I have to say this is a nightmare. It is basically a new version, not an update, and because of this I was forced to reinstall several drivers (soundcard etc.), I was forced to re-activate some addons (FS Global Real Weather) and so on. BUT the absolutely worst thing: my MadCatz Fly 5 Stick does not work anymore, or at least not properly. As soon as I connect the stick, it works for some seconds to minutes until W10 suddenly decides to deactivate it. I even downloaded the newest W10 driver, does not help. Now it is a completely random play if I plug i…

I just upgrade from Win7 64 bit to W10. Had a few problems I could solve but one I couldn´t: FSX-SE doesnot start - it shows the splash screen and it stays there. Did delete the fsx.cfg but disdn´t solve this issue. By checking the Task Manager I see that my CPU is always at "CPU, 100%, 5.80GHz" (I do have a i7-2600k OC). That is odd! If CPU is always at 100% (with nothing running), it is clear that FSX cannot start. Does anyone have some idea what is going on? Why is the CPU always at 100%?? I would be grateful for any help! PS: It seems this is a problem related to Sandy Bridge 2600k CPU - it is likely a MoBo Bios update is required. As this CPU i…

After numerous attempts, I cannot get my yoke recognized by FSX. Control Manager says it works fine, likewise with the Device Manager. I have enabled controllers in the settings. All I see is Mouse/Yoke. Nowhere is there any indication that FSX knows of the CH Yoke's existence. Anyone else had this problem?

HI, I have 2 PCs connected via my BT 5 hub. For many years under Win 7 the P2P and the Homegroup I set up worked fine. I first upgraded my secondary (B) machine (32 bit) to Win 10 a couple of months ago, and was surprised that it seemed to resolve the P2P and Homegroup configuration. But I have recently upgraded my Primary PC (A) 64 bit) to Win 10. And now : Neither of the 2 PCs have an option to view the Homegroup password or leave it. My main machine, A, can still see all the folders on B, BUT B appears not to see A ie when in Explorer and clicking on Network in B it doesn't see A, but when in A it does see B. The network name on A is "Network 2" and on B it's "Netwo…

  22. Hello, I use Saitek Flight Yoke, two throttle quadrants, and the rudder pedals. I have been holding off upgrading to Windows 10 from Win 7 because of reported issues with drivers for Saitek not working under Windows 10 and causing problems. When I go to the Saitek Website I can find nothing about beta drivers for Windows 10 for the Saitek devices I mention above. I do see listed: Windows 10 – Saitek HOTAS Beta Drivers and Software Release "The Saitek team has been hard at work developing software and drivers for our H.O.T.A.S.(X52, X52 PRO, X55 and X65F) products. We are making available to the public the Beta versions of these to get as many of you flying…

  23. I have recently decided to move to Windows 10. I have plenty of drive bays in my case, so I dedicated two SSDs (one for the OS and one for FSX/P3D) for a "Windows 10 system". I left untouched on two other separate drives the Windows 7 system on which I am currently running FSX-SE. I made a fresh install (updated first, then wiped everything out and made a fresh install)...everything went smoothly...love at first sight...very fast and eye candy system....and when I had FSX with all my addons up and running and made my first flight in the new system I was delighted by how smooth FSX was. It took a few days for the honeymoon to finish.....the first problem to appear was t…

Two weeks ago I upgraded my W7 64 to W10 64. Everything is working fine, only SIOC is giving me problems. When I start it within 5 sec - 15 min it stops working. With W7 no issues at all. I un-and reinstalled it . The same issue. I tried starting it in W7 compatibility, real time ; nothing solved. All suggestions are welcome. Already I sent an email to Opencockpits and am waiting for their reply.

  25. Hi, I was running Active Sky Next SP3 on network confirguration with Win7 on a laptop and FSX with Acceleration on a server PC. Everything works normally. This week I have upgraded to Win 10. I have reinstalled Active Sky Next and then SP3 and placed the original simconnect.cfg file in the documents folder. I have configured all the files and I can see all the files from ASN related to location of FSX on the server. Upon loading ASN I am getting an error as follows: Cannot load SimConnect Unable to load any managed SimConnect interface. Simulator Connectivity is not possible.
