<p>
	Hi everyone. There are lots of threads about my issue all over the internet, and they all die out without providing solutions. Maybe the folks at Avsim can do better!
</p>

<p>
	Short version: Win10. Headphones (Steelseries 7x) were working great. Then I upgraded the video card and CPU. Now they click and pop constantly any time media is playing, and sometimes even drop out entirely for a second or two. Gets worse when videos are played (either Youtube or when a game runs a video (non-realtime rendered) cutscene.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Long version: Original computer specs: AMD 2700x cpu, Asus Rog Strix X470F-Gaming motherboard, 32g ram, 1080Ti (also Asus Rog Strix). Had Blackshark v2 headphones that clicked and popped all the time. They were junk in other ways so I replaced them with the Steelseries 7x. Sound instantly cleaned up - no pops or any other audio artifacts.
</p>

<p>
	Then I upgraded to a 3070Ti. Headphones still worked great. A couple weeks later I swapped in a 5800X3D cpu. The headphones immediately started clicking and popping, and every minute or so, beeping as they drop in and out. This only happens on the headphones. If I run VR (Reverb G2) the sound is perfect.
</p>

<p>
	Ran latencymon and saw nvlddmkm.sys and wdf01000.sys were having issues. Google research shows this can be caused by an improperly-seated video card, but if that were the case it should have happened when I upgraded the video card, and not two weeks later when I upgraded the CPU (I did not unplug the vid card to install the new CPU).
</p>

<p>
	I tried removing the nvidia graphics drivers with DDU, then booted into Windows with the network cable unplugged, which caused Windows to install the basic display driver. Still had clicking and popping, so it doesn't seem likely to be the nvidia driver even though that's a commonly-cited cause of audio latency issues. I do not run the GeForce Experience junk which I've seen has been blamed for latency issues as well.
</p>

<p>
	All of the AMD motherboard/chipset/etc drivers are up to date. I'm running the latest nvidia driver, but have also tried going back to 511.79, which seems to be the one people have the least trouble with, but that didn't fix anything. BIOS is up to date (it had to be updated just to recognize the new chip). I've disabled every sound device except the headphones in the sound options panel.
</p>

<p>
	I've got the high performance power plan running with minimum processor state set to 100%, and disabled USB selective suspend..  At this point I'm getting close to deciding it's time to just nuke the install and start fresh, but for obvious reasons I'm reluctant to do that. It'll take me an entire day just to get MSFS back up and running, much less all the other stuff installed so if it's at all possible I'd like to avoid it.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Here's the real fun: My wife just upgraded her computer - it has the exact same specs and even brands mine has, but she's not getting any audio issues on her wireless headphones. So I have trouble suspecting the hardware.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	So what do you all think? Where should I be looking?
</p>

<p>
	And if you do think I should just do a full reinstall, what's the consensus - stick with 10, or move to 11?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance!
</p>

<p>
	As shown on the right side of the pic below, I have two small "unnamed" partitions. I don't know when they were created except it was a long time ago and I don't know what they are for. All I can think of (just guessing) is maybe one has to do with when I upgraded from Win7 to Win10, and the other perhaps is used by the Windows Restore function?? Might one of them be needed when it comes time to upgrade to Win11?  If not needed can I delete these two partitions and return the space to my C drive? If yes, what is the best way to do that?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks very much,

<p>
	Hello, so I have another thread going in the forums on a possible CPU upgrade.  Given that it looks like going from Intel to AMD will require a reinstall of windows 10 I’m trying to figure out if it’s possible to do the reinstall without impacting installed games, save games, mods, not to mention documents, pictures etc.  Googling hasn’t really returned a lot of useful information oddly enough.
</p>

<p>
	I keep my C:\ drive pretty much exclusively for the O/S and not much else.  With that I mind, if I reinstall the O/S will it largely leave the other drives alone?  Most (but not all) of my games are through Steam.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for any help.  I want to do the upgrade but am dreading the thought of having to back everything up and reinstall.

<p>
	I had been flying all day and was going to cook dinner and be with the kid and wife for dinner, so I turned off my computer. Came back afterward and booted up machine as always. Everything is fine. I boot up MSFS and it completely crashes my system. This <em>never </em>happens. I've been lucky up until now to not be plagued with CTD's are many issues. Anyways, I though: "no big deal" and rebooted my machine. First I noticed my bluetooth mouse wasn't working and my speakers weren't connecting. Long story short, it now says that I don't even have blueooth installed on this machine, when I was using it a couple hours before. I've gone through the various websites and troubleshooting, but nothing appears to fix the issue and I'm completely stumped. Drivers are up to date, etc. The weird thing, is that it's as if bluetooth just doesn't exist on my machine anymore. Any thoughts?

	I have encountered a Microsoft Office problem that is stopping me from using Outlook at work. When I double click on the Office icon, I am greeted with the following message -
</p>

<ul><li>
		Sorry, we ran into an error. Please reload the page, or try again another time. Correlation ID:
	</li>
</ul><p>
	I have tried a couple of things based on what I have found online without success. That Correlation ID does not even have an address/code after it. It is just blank. I am hoping that some Office expert on here can help me to resolve the issue!

	Hi All: Are there any users of the Procmon utility out there? I have been using this and find it interesting to see what is happening behind the static screens. I had a filter that allowed display of only P3D and related operations and filtered out the rest. Unfortunately, when i did an update last week, for some reason I lost my filter.  I did a search on Procmon in the P3D forum without any luck. My specs etc are in my signature below. I have forgotten where I found this. Can anybody recreate the filter?

	What options are there after that ? My system does not support Win 11 so upgrading OS is not an option. I surely can not think if throwing out my haswell system in 2025.<br />
	Also I see that Win 11 will retire two years earlier than Win 10. That is really strange. I was under the impression that there should never be any Win 11 (or Win 12) just continuous Win 10 updates

	I really want to give MSFS a go but I can't until I get my Windows updated.
</p>

<p>
	I have a $2,700 PC loaded pretty good and do not want to buy another PC, I can't afford it.
</p>

<p>
	I am totally familiar with the ability to upgrade from Win7 pro to Win10 pro, I have tried it twice.  Both times it failed.  Meaning I could go through the process but due to some sorts of errors I get well known and posted problems.  One, the launch to black screen.  For which I found five possible solutions, which I tried all five and all failed to fix this issues.
</p>

<p>
	Two, I can launch in safe mode but I get greyed out menus making it impossible to work with the OS.
</p>

<p>
	I have tried about five ways to install the MS downloader, reassign boot order and launch but all fail.  I also have tried to do a dual boot system following video tutorials online which I was also not able to get to work.
</p>

<p>
	All I want it a Win10 OS installed on my PC.  How do I get one?
</p>

<p>
	Can one buy an HD with Win10 installed and license activated and plug into a PC currently with WIn7?
</p>

<p>
	Any ideas or suggestions that allow me to retain my current PC?

<p>
	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	I accidently changed the appearance of a BGL file to a Notepad text file appearance. In other words, all the bgl files in flight simulator have the appearance of a Notepad text file rather than the appearance it had. Originally when I double clicked on the bgl file, it would ask me what program I wanted to use to open the bgl file. That's when I selected the Notepad program, thinking that it was a text file. Now when I double click on the bgl file, it opens in Notepad. How do I set it back to it's original appearance? I am running Windows 10 Pro.

	Can I or may I change this Users/user change to Users/my name?
</p>

<p>
	Without troubles??
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If yes "how to"?

<p>
	I’m trying to setup a microphone for my FS2Crew module. Because of the distance, I have to use an extension cable. The mic, however, is not recognised by my PC when I’m using the extension. I tried the following.
</p>

<p>
	1. Plug the cable as line in and then the microphone to the extension, the PC doesn’t acknowledge the mic.
</p>

<p>
	2. Plug in the mic to the extension first and then plug the extension to the mic port. Doesn’t work for some reason.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	How can I make this work? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance!

<p>
	Hello.
</p>

<p>
	I have a home cockpit that uses 3 PCs in the same network.
</p>

<p>
	I used P3DV5.2, I use Prosim 737. Lately I have been having the problem that in the middle of a flight the plane kept on flying but it is not responsive to any commands.
</p>

<p>
	I started investigating what was causing this issue. and I realized that the Main PC which is Window 10 based was getting disconnected from the network. The only way to fix that, is to reset the network, then enable network discovery, and then it will work again. This does not happen every time, but it has happened about 2 out every 10 flights.
</p>

<p>
	What could be causing the network connection from dropping. The other 2 computers does not have this issue, only the main one on which I run P3D, and the main Prosim program.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance
</p>

<p>
	Regards
</p>

	I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before but can't locate the postings.  I'm about to get a new computer that has both a SSD and HDD.  My question is on which should I put P3d and MSFS?  I'm assuming that Win 10 will come loaded on the SSD.   Does it even matter or is there any advantage to one way or other where the sims go?  Thanks for any advice.

<p>
	Hello all,
</p>

<p>
	On Windows 10 21H2. We moved the other day, and hooking up my computer initially seemed to show that everything was fine with it. This morning, however, I got one of those Windows boot errors, 0xc000000e, with the explanation "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed".
</p>

<p>
	I googled around a bit and most solutions say to use Windows' automatic repair to fix it. I have an old Windows Installation USB leying around, but I'll create a new one using another computer so that I have one that holds a more recent Windows version. Until that is done, I decided to look into the BIOS to see if I could find any clues there. In the boot order screen, I didn't seem to see the C:/ drive however... I have 2 1TB EVOs and a 2TB EVO, plus a 2TB spinning disk drive, besides the 500GB NVMe-connected drive that functions as C. So, I'm afraid that the drive itself has an issue. And being an NVMe with M.2 connector, it means it's basically attached straight to the board. Which ahs led me to wonder if the drive itself, or the port, was damaged during the move.
</p>

<p>
	Now, a year ago I moved from New York to San Francisco. I took the computer apart and put it back together, and it seemed to be fine, except one a month or so I get a hardware error of the sorts you'd sometimes get with an unstable OC. However, the OC has always worked <em>before</em> the move, and gradually dialing down the OC has never helped. So I've always wondered if the motherboard wasn't damaged during the move.
</p>

<p>
	So, I wonder what the best course of action is.<br />
	1) Try automatic repair once the new installation media USB is ready<br />
	2) What would be the next step in trouble shooting this, if the automatic repair doesn't work, or if this is actually a hardware issue?
</p>

<p>
	Any thoughts are appreciated!
</p>

<p>
	Best,<br />
	Benjamin
