WIN10 OS Forum

WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

I have an Audigy 2 value sound card. The sound works fine for music and other games in win 10. But in fsx I'm having problems with some of my aircraft. In most of my small planes, when I click on the switches or buttons, I get the sound cutting in and out about 4 times. Then it stops. This also happens with my lvd 763. My iFly 737, it will also do it during pb. Now my pmdg 777 is the big problem. It does it constantly. It will make 4 wooosh sounds, normal for about 2 seconds then repeats. I can still fly, but I have to turn of sound so I don't go crazy. I don't know what's causing this. I'm thinking about getting another sound card, (which I probably should), …

I am a recent adopter of Windows 10 64 bit (Prepar3D 2.5). I have installed aircraft, utilities, and some scenery. I created my own fake FSX routine to fool certain installers into thinking I was installing into FSX. So far so good, except 1 thing... I want to try out UTX. Being from Canada, I would like to use UTX Canada, version 1. I realize that P3D is not officially supported, nor is any operating system newer than Vista; according to the Flight1 website. I wanted to get that out of the way before someone pointed that out to me I downloaded the installer from Flight1. It came in two parts. a small exe and a much larger file with a .000 extension. They live, a…

The main problem I'm having with fsx and win 10 is my sound. I have a SB Audigy 2 value with drivers that should work with win 10. But on my smaller planes ie Seneca V, The sound will wooosh, wooosh 4 times then back to normal. This is also the same with LVD 763. My iFly 737, I'll get the stuttering not only when pushing buttons and switches, but like when being pushed back by GSX or AES. Today I went to try my PMDG 777 and that wooosh sound was constant. It would do it 4 times, then a 5 to 10 second normal and do it all over again. I probably need to get a new card that has the win 10 drivers. My current card is obsolete. Any recommendations? The other probl…

http://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 Some people have been installing windows 10, and then experiencing uncertainty after encountering the growing number of reports about that operating systems approach to user privacy. Some have retreated to windows 7 (with occasionally disastrous results as their OS becomes hopelessly corrupted for whatever reason) For others who have asked me, I recommend an easier way of controlling possibly unwanted features. O@OShutup10 seems ideal because it's from a trusted and successful company, it's free; and it does what it says it does in an easy, 1-click manner. It won't address all Win10 privacy issues, as some things can only…

Hi guys, I updated my Windows 8.1 laptop (Celeron, 64bit 2Gb RAM), to Windows 10 & the Start button is totally non-functional. Any ideas?

  11. I'd like to share an experience I've had after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 on my Surface PRO 3. A bit of googling has shown me that I'm not alone having this problem, but far from all systems are affected. I don't use FSX on my Surface but if this problem was to happen on a FSX system I realise that, by the way FSX works, it has the potential for reduced performance. I first became aware of the problem as I noticed that the fan on board the Surface started spinning way more often after the upgrade, and I also felt like i wasn't getting as long battery life out of it. That prompted me to have a look in Task manager. There I could clearly see that the W…

  12. thanks to some one on the aivlasoft forums he found the cause of the problem that makes the aivlasoft efb disblay unit unable to start the cause of the problem was the aerosoft airbus fonts so I copied his solution as he posted it on the forum so the credit for solving this problem goes back to him not me I copied the Airbus True Type fonts to another folder for safe keeping. Then, I deleted them in my fonts folder. The fonts include: AirbusDisp.ttf AIrbusDisp2.ttf AirbusFCU.ttf AirbusISIS.ttf AirbusMCDUa.ttf AirbusMCDUb.ttf AirbusPFD.ttf AirbusPFD2.ttf EDIT: It's the AirbusPFD.ttf and AirbusPFD2.ttf fonts that cause the issue. Adding either (o…

  13. Well my upgrade went fairly well. I did make a "clone" of my system drive, and verified its operation before proceeding. Good move! The update process discarded my nVidia driver and installed a basic windows graphics driver. Screen looked very unusual. DL'd and installed nVidia GeForce driver 3.44.48 as I found several reports that driver works well. I have GTX 560TI. OK. Now my desktop is there and all looks OK. Ran several key applications and only one failed, a replacement file manager to Windows Explorer named Powerdesk. Not a critical issue. Then I tried FSX. This is where it all came apart for me. Upon starting FSX, the first barrier was needing…

My gaming rig is doing fine with Windows 7 so I'm only really interested in 10 if there's performance improvements to be had. Current gaming is split between X-Plane, Elite Dangerous, GTAV, IL2BOS, Witcher 3. i2500K OC, GTS770 4GB, 16GB RAM. Would things speed up a bit with Windows 10?

  17. Hello, Generally, when I am installing a new nvidia driver, I am uninstalling the old one and afterwards proceed with the clean installation of the newest version. This method worked fine for me under WIn 8.1. In Win 10 however, after uninstalling the old driver and rebooting, I can not install the new driver as Win 10 is automatically proceeding with the installation of the old driver version. This is happening with or without being connected to the internet, regardless of selecting to "never install driver software from Windows Update" in System Propoerties> Device Installation Settings. Has anyone been experiencing the same issue? Any suggestions? Many t…

My second attempt at upgrading to win 10 yielded the conclusion that (on my system) FSX works, but at a cost of slower boot times and about 5-10 fps drop in performance. Installing REX 4 took a lot longer too. This could be due to the fact that I'm testing on an upgrade and not a full clean install of win 10. I was able to get my Creative X-Fi Titanium and GoFlight Modules to work well and a stable FSX by running as win 7 & as admin. I found that the Nvida 353.62 and Inspector worked fine in DX9 mode. It looks like MS fixed the no preview window issue. The GNS 430/530, GTN 750, PMDG 737, and the F1 Mustang all worked with no CTDs. I completed several flights with…

  19. Hi guys! I've bought and installed FSX in my computer in 2013 when my computer is still using Windows 8. Since then, the OS was upgraded to 8.1 and recently to Windows 10. However, FSX kept on crashing throughout these 2 years. Around 30 minutes after opening it, FSX suddenly does not respond and crashed. Below are my computer's specs: Computer Model: HP Pavilion 23 All-in-one PC Processor: Intel Core i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30 GHz Quad Core RAM: 8GB Graphics: NVIDEA GeForce 610 Disk Drive: Hitachi HDS721010CLA630 It's useless to buy a better processor because the processor in an all-in-one PC cannot be changed... Can I run FSX on my computer smoothly or shall I…

Just upgraded to Win10 to try it out and overall I think it works just great but I have one issue with my Saitek Throttle Quadrant. First it wasn't recognized at all in the sim (P3Dv2.5) nor in FSUIPC. I then found a driver called Saitek_Pro_Flight_Quad_SD6_00000040_64_Drivers_pfw which unfortunately was for Win 8.1 IIRC...couldn't find a Win10 driver. Installing this driver package solved the issue and the throttle was recognized just fine again looking in FSUIPC. However as soon as I restart my computer it won't work again and I have to reinstall the driver package to get it working...most annoying! Anyone else seen this and has a cure for it?

Hey gang! My computer somehow auto updated to windows 10. Not a huge issue concerning FSX. But I have a problem exiting the program. If I wish to end the flight, I would normally press escape and end the flight. But when I do so...the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I have to use task manager to shut FSX down. Now, here is a clue for you smart peeps to help me. I enjoy using FSX in fullscreen mode. That is were the issue springs up. Although, if I run the program in windowed mode (WHICH FLIPPING HATE DOING) it will allow me to exit as usual. Any help would be greatly appreciated

All, I have been reading there are several people having issues with FSX/FSX:SE in full screen and menus not showing up. I am one of them and I am wondering if it has something to do with DX9. I know this issue is hitting NVidia users but I am actually running Intel HD4000 (No snide remarks please as it has been working flawlessly in Win7). When I put FSX into DX10 Preview Mode the menus appear again without issue. PMDG does not really recommend using DX10 PM so I am not sure what I am going to do. I like Win10 performance and I have not had any major issues other than the menus. I have to just remember to go into Window mode. But I hate having to remember. …

I was flying then all of a sudden in mid flight, FSX said it encountered an error and exited out. I tried to do a reinstall, but when I went to uninstall it, the setup for the uninstall did not load up. I also tried inserting the FSX disc 1 but I got error 1628 failed to complete installation. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do? Thank you.
