WIN10 OS Forum
WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

I'm about to do an upgrade to Windows 10 as due to real life I have no time to do a reinstall of my many hundreds of programs and add-ons and I've left it to the last minute as usual... The question is - will any of the installed sims and add-ons be deactivated by the upgrade as would happen with a significant hardware upgrade.. For instance DCS - should the individual serial keys be deactivated and reactivated afterwards? Similarly Prepar3D, which I think has to be deactivated before moving to a new disk even? Any others? Any add-ons (mostly FSX/P3D) that might have an issue? Thanks Keith

I run ASN, EZDok, and FSX Acceleration in Win10. Do I need to set "run as administrator" for each exe? I have FSX installed to a separate hard drive, not programfiles. Just wondering if run as administrator is now needed for all the exe files that run now that I upgraded to Win10. Thanks!

....2020 will be here, way too fast. W10 will be on any new computer I build... I waited to the last few days, for M.S. to sort their **** out....and hopefully the major bugs have been squashed. Going to W10 for all of us, is inevitable....just as being taken along on the Orbx Migration wagon was. I was forced to do that. Blessing-in-Disguise. It works...and works as it probably should have from the get go. It didn't..but it does now. I wouldn't go back to switching regions. Migration works. I am hoping that after my upgrade conversion...so will W10. I waited, like a lot of folk...for I wasn't actually a fence sitter...but wanted M.S. to have the year to …

For a variety of reasons, I have 3 properly licensed Windows 10 64 Bit running different Sims on my PC. A failure of my C drive [1TB SSD] was, I hoped, easy to rectify with a new [replacement] 1 TB SSD and Acronis Backups. Needless to say, it was far from easy. After restoring my latest C drive image, I was hoping for a fully operational "back to normal" scenario. How wrong can you be. So following my usual "I will restore all" then, nothing worked OK then, all drives unplugged, plug in C Drive only and restore from backup AH HA a good load. Plug in the D Drive, restore from backup and back to where I was, total poo. OK then reload Win 10 onto D and I now ha…

I see this evening that their "Windows 10 Drivers Coming Soon" tweets have been removed from their Twitter feed. Anyone heard any updates? Those were the only promises I had seen and it appears they are gone!

I can't get my changes to get saved in DXTBmp after the Win10 upgrade. I can edit textures and then import them back to the DXTBmp file from paint.net or ms paint, and it shows in the DXTBmp window, but I hit save, and the file is not saved. Either replacing a file or saving to a new file, the old file still gets saved without the changes I made. No changes can stick. Is anyone else having this problem?

I heard a lot of negative comments regarding this feature in Windows 10. But you can turn it off, so why are people so upset about this? I just reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch and haven't turned it off yet. But not sure how the auto update works. Does it work in the background and make changes to your computer without your consent. In other words the updates wlil happen without you knowing and won't notify you of what the updates are? If so, then I can understand why people are upset. I'd like to turn this feature off but before doing so, is there a way I can disable it but at the same time be able to update windows myself? I would like to be in control of when or…

Hi all, Yesterday I decided to try FSX on Win 10 did not like it. Win 10 is a good operating system (I use it on another computer for school) but I don't like it as an OS for flight sim. I reverted and everything seems to be back perfectly. My question: are there any Windows 10 OS files on my computer I'll never need that I can delete? If so, where are they stored? I'd imagine they are taking up a great deal of space on my hard drive, and I can't seem to find anything online about my specific question so I thought I'd ask here. Any help appreciated! Thanks,

I am about to perform a clean install of Windows 10... most of my games and applications are stored on another drive, E:, do I need to reinstall all my games and applications after reinstalling windows 10? Or can I simply just launch them from my other drives? I really hope I don't have to reinstall all my apps and games all over again. That would be a nightmare. I'm assuming that I need to, so that it can add the proper entries into the registry file and place them into the control panel > program uninstall list as well. Sigh...

With a brand new, technician built PC with Win 10 as OS, completely updated by the builder and all current drivers ready to go - does FSX Gold from the disks install correctly? It is hard to get a definitive answer looking through posts - most posts talk about an upgrade to Win 10 with an existing FSX installation. Given Jetline, Chillblast and Wired4Fire all seem to sell Flight Sim PC's with Win 10 now, has the latest versions of Win 10 solved (if any) compatibility issues? I'm replacing an almost 7 year old flight sim PC which still has the original FSX-A installation and still works well (FSX that is, the actual computer itself is starting to have problems …

Has anyone figured out how to get FS9 to work with Win 10? I've scoured the internet and can only find a lot of frustrated people with no answers. I've already tried all the compatiblity modes, re-installing, installing to a different location outside the programs folder, etc. Any new ideas? Thanks

However netwerk programs ar working fine... Here how it looks : In netwerklocations my server is seen. I Netwerk itself not. I have compared the servers netwerk settings with the clients netwerk settings and they are the same... Never had an issue with W7. Help is appriciated..

In P3D, I noticed that my CPU usage was very high, and was getting occasional Windows crash dumps when flying. I noticed in the event viewer 2 apps running that were listed as crashing and errors were as long as my arm. The 2 offenders were SkypeHost and Homegroup. Now, this is the Skype that comes with W10, not the actual Skype downloaded version. As I don't use Skype, I uninstalled it, and disabled Homegroup. (I network the old fashioned way ) Now you can't disable Skype, not even in Services, as it will re enable after a period of time. My HDD has never been so quiet. Instructions for removal in the link http://appuals.com/skypehost-exe-on-windows-10/

I have decided to remain with W7 and have hidden the W10 'advert' that pops up in my Windows Updates every couple of months. But once 29 July has passed will this 'update' still appear forcing me to keep hiding it? Or will Microsoft finally give up and accept we don't want it?

I am currently running Windows 7 on my system. I am satisfied with it, and for the hardware that I have, my P3D runs smoothly. I have zero OOMs under my belt after flying for about a year. The Windows 10 Free Upgrade offer is expiring in a month, and I am leaning toward upgrading. Windows 10 is the future, and all future upgrades will be made for that environment, so I am thinking I will take the plunge. My situation is that I have P3D V3.3 and I have...A LOT of add-ons, mostly airport sceneries and some PMDG and aerosoft planes, as well as the whole ORBX FTX enchilada (global, vector, open lc europe and alaska/canada). All of these are installed somewhere in C:\Lockh…

Hello, I installed a GTX 980 in my dell 8700 and when I turned it on it completely crashed my computer. So, I was thinking of getting another 8700 and just moving my hard drives, old graphics card and memory over. Is that a reasonable idea. I have no backups since I had FSX on two hard drives and tons of scenery/airports. I was using 8.1 and now It seems I have to get windows 10 which I don't really want to do .Or do I spend days reinstalling or do i go fsx se? any thoughts recommendations would be very helpful.

I have the upgraded x64 version of W10 after months of MS's insistence that I download it. I'm not sure the upgrade is optimal performance-wise. My system is sluggish, slow to boot and i think will benefit from a clean install I've downloaded the W10 media files to enable a boot and clean installation but W10 is not seeing my USB flash drive in order to create a boot device. I don't want to burn to a DVD - I don't have a writer anyway, so I need to use a USB. Any advice? I can't believe this is so difficult.

I have recently updated my AMD display driver to the latest version (16.200.1025.0, June 6, 2016) and it seems to work great. I also changed my Anti-aliasing Method from Multisampling to Supersampling. It seems to have smoothed out my flights and provided me with a small improvement in FPS. I am running Windows 10 FSX Acceleration.

I have Win 7 installed and everything is wonderful, I am being badgered 2x daily to upgrade to the FREE Win 10. I have read in other websites that I should not so I thought I would ask those who are true FSimmers what issues thy have had or improvements in performance. Tell me what you know. Randy Smith

Yesterday I thought I would update Aerosoft Split X to the latest version so I went into Control Panel-Programs & Features to uninstall the old version before installing the new one and was very surprised when I noticed lots of my programs were missing in the list of installed programs including all my Aerosoft sceneries for example. Later on I asked about this in a Windows 10 forum and was told another place to look for my programs is under Settings-System-Apps & Features and I did find some programs in that list but still lots of my installed programs are gone not be to found in any of these lists. The programs indeed are still installed and working just fine, o…

"Disable Windows 10 Tracking and Telemetry Without Affecting Functionality Windows 10 comes bundled with a lot of options designed to improve user experience by collecting and using information about your PC activity. This means that it (partly) monitors what you do on your computer. Many users object to Microsoft's policy in this regard and prefer to prevent it from gathering personal data by disabling tracking and telemetry services. If you're one of them, then you probably know how difficult it is to search the Windows features and find the right tools to block."
