WIN10 OS Forum
WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

Today I've bought myself an SSD, to speed up things... D:\ (Disk 1) is the Hard Disk (500GB), C:\ (Disk 0) is the Solid State Drive (120GB) (Both GPT/UEFI) Well, I decided to clean install Windows 10 on it, but the partitions look very odd. Screenshot of Diskmgmt Screenshot of BCEDIT Relax: adventure movie | fantasy movie | romance movie I don't know if I'm safe to wipe the Disk 1 completely, or rearrange my files on it so I can use it as a data drive only... I fear that it might crash my whole installation. I'm also totally lost on what Windows has done. lol EDIT: I've had a previous installation on the Hard Disk (Disk 1\D:\)

I installed Win 10 Enterprise 1607 on two of my PCs (work/test PC and Flight Sim PC). Happy to report that both survived the experience. Used two different methods to update, work/test PC I downloaded full Enterprise 1607 and just ran the Setup.exe and upgraded. On my flight sim PC, I let Windows Update do the upgrade to 1607. Results: 1. Cisco VPN Client was disabled, fair enough this Client is a known security vulnerability (there is a possible hack to work around it being blocked by Win10, but 50/50 success and requires reg editing). I purchased a VPN router (linksys LRT224) that will be my VPN (probably should have done this a long time ago since Cisco…

Hi, after restoring of my pc with win10, I can not reinstall the scenery of RFSCENERYBUILDING .... I have written to the support of Simmarket, they told me this: "Hello, It sounds like the RegisteredOwner registry value (which is the default user name) is blank. Windows setup demands that a user name be entered so someone has edited the registry value after installing the OS on this machine or it has been deleted by Microsoft during an upgrade to Windows 10 from an older Windows version. I'll start off this post with a recording of the problem. You might not be able to guess what is going on from this short video, but it seems to me that the audio is continuing to play very small increments of whatever was playing every 2 seconds. For example if the audio being played was saying "hello" it would sound like h...h...he...he...e...e...el... etc. But the effect is more dramatic than this example. I had this problem very briefly when I had Windows 10 installed on my HDD and it resolved itself very quickly and I'm not sure what did it. I now have Windows 10 ver. 1607 on my SSD, but the issue was happening before 1607 as well. Anyways, the issue seems to hap…

Over the past two weeks, two seperate hardware contollers have lost at least one axis function - including the ability to be calibrated within Windows itself. At first I thought it was a hardware malfunction, but there is no issue with the controller itself. This leaves only Windows 10 or the USB controller on the motherboard as possible suspects. I have updated all the chipset drivers which didn't seem to help and will attempt a reinstall of Windows 10 over the weekend to see if that sorts things out. Failing that I'll revert back to Windows 7 - and if that also fails I'll look at upgrading my PC (which is only 2 years old) Has anyone else experienced anomali…

I am thinking of upgrading my Win8 installation to Win10 within the free MS update period, just to be up-to-date. However, I just realize that LM still recommends Windows 7 as recommended system for Prepar3d V3. Are there still issues why Win10 is still not recommended? I have no problems with Windows 8 and my sim installation, and other people appear to have no problem with Win10 either. But I do not intend to run into issues with my installation just because of an OS upgrade (i.e. not clean install) that is going to break something.

Does anyone have any experience with the Saitek Instrument Panel in Windows 10? I have the Saitek Multi Panel and the Saitek switch panel which after 3 weeks of fooling around and contactind Mad Catz I finally got working (JUST DON'T ASK ME HOW). But I can not get the instrument panel from Saitek to work. After trying many many things from Mad Catz suggestions it is still not working. I even tried SPAD, but it was to confusing for me to use it. Most of the YouTube tutorials are for the older versions, and I down loaded the most recent one from FSGS. Any help would be appreciated......................Thank you. Steff

Not sure what's going on, but as of now, whenever I try to right click on a pinned item in my taskbar it doesn't bring up a contextual menu like it used to. I can click on other parts of the taskbar like on the right side by the clock, or the task bar itself, but the actual pinned icons don't work at all when I right click. Sigh. Why am I always having problems with Windows. When I finally manage to fix something, a bunch of other problems appear out of nowhere. Getting very frustrated. I can't even fly, because I'm trying to figure out what's wrong. I've tried googling and couldn't really find any answers, so I'm hoping someone in the community could tell me how to f…

Good day to everybody, I would like to know if windows 10 needs to be prepared before installation of FSX-SE. I mean, I have to apply Nicks's Bible or I can give up some steps? For example the HEY_LOCAL_MACHINE parameters or advanced tab in control panel ecc.. I did't find any specific guide. I really appreciate your suggestion. Thank you in advance, Riccardo

Apparently this is a rare occurrence (Win7 & Wind 10), but, it does not hurt to check. I Installed the Windows 10 upgrade and anniversary update on 1 of my computers. This one is an older one (i7 950) not used for Flight Sim, but for charts and other tasks while flying. The i7 950 is a 4 core (8 logical) processor, mine is HT enabled and after the update I lost 7 processors, so my CPU usage was 100% all the time. I was about to roll back to Windows 7, but checked some stuff and CPU-Z was reporting only 1 active core. ????? 1. Device Manager showed the 8 logical processors. 2. Windows 10 reported and used only one processor in Task Manage -> Perf…

nVidia Titan X (361.43) I've been having odd issues with long pauses (not stutters, but 1 second pause). I did my usual diagnostics thinking it was a Problem with P3D and/or some add-on, but came up empty handed. I did more flights and recordings with ShadowPlay ... then I noticed an issue with my ShadowPlay recording icon (Green icon in lower right) ... after manually stopping the recording the green icon stayed on for a couple of seconds, then changed to green with red slash thru it, then finally goes away (5-7 seconds for it to cycle). Curious I went to my capture folder to see if the recorded file was there and it wasn't ... hmmm ... no recording at all (che…

There are a number of ways to update to the Anniversary Edition Option 1 - update and keep existing files and applications - this worked fine and I had no issues Option 2 - update with a fresh install - oops! This effectively wipes the registry whilst keeping a few important values It also removes the 'RegisteredOwner' key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion This effectively broke some of the current simMarket installers. Manually creating a 'RegisteredOwner' key solved the problem. Many thanks to their support team for pointing me in the right direction. Hope there …

I tried to install the Just Flight Schweizer from DVD and it silently failed. The prompt reply from Martin Wright at Just Flight was "The install has obviously failed. And it always will on Windows 10 I'm afraid Microsoft in their infinite wisdom have decided to block certain types of DRM in Windows 10 This has caused a large number of older games to stop working and blocked the use of certain types of protected disks None of our disk product will install in Windows 10" Not a big problem in this case as this was a cheap second-hand purchase, but looking at my bookshelf I'm glad I did an upgrade install! I've got a few other DVDs to install - will report on succ…

Ever since I have upgraded to windows 10 64 bit I have been having missing Texture or DDS files each time i loaded aircraft. The worst offenders appear to be Just flight models such as the F27, DC8, etc but even A2A Commache comes up with $650 Missing Gauge (i use the 750 Flight 1 gauge not the 650) ?? To date, I have uninstalled and reinstalled aircraft - uninstalled Nvidia Drivers and done a complete clean and reinstall of the latest NVidia drivers, switched back to DX9 from DX10 Fixer - all to no avail I would really appreciate any pointers as to how to fix this as it is driving me crazy. I have read some suggestions such as fresh install of windows 10 or going b…

Has anybody else noticed just how good sound coming from their installed soundcard is now? I have never heard such good engine, and cabin ambience sounds, since having made the switch. It's like (how to explain it...) having had a very long head/sinus cold...and when over it...you can hear clearly once more. There are engine timbres and cabin timbres in my Carenado sound files, that I have truly never heard with W7 (sound drivers) in control. When I updated to the latest W10 soundcard drivers, it has been a very most excellent sound 'upgrade'. To note, I had the most recent W7 sound drivers installed, so it was not that I had very old, outdated W7 drivers. How…

Since W10 is no longer "free," is it safe for all users of W-7 to remove the GWX program from their PC? I can't believe Microsoft would still be holding out for some last minute "forced" installations! Airbus

After using Windows 10 on my laptops fro several months and on a A-I-O HP desktop I have grown to like Win10 and think I might convert my flightsim PC from Win7 to 10. From research seems it will be compatible with what I have so purchasing "upgrades" a various software are a minimum at best. So a few questions for those who have been using Win 10 for awhile: 1. I have one PC setup that has Win7/Win XP dual boot. I would like to retain the XP to run old versions of MS Flight Simulator. Do you think upgrading to Win 10 will wipe out the WinXP dual-boot option? XP is on a different partition but not sure Win 10 install will do in this situation. 2. Anybody usi…

I upgraded for free a few days back. I read somewhere that the os is free only for one year after that I'd have to shell out the retail price for the software ? Is that really true or am I missing something ? Would it be true that if I change say my motheboard I would have to pay again for the os ? Thankss

I can't seem to get rid of the stutters.I'm running p3d and i get around 30 or so fps but every other few secs fps go down to 11 and back up. What services or os features do you disable ? I can't find any os guide for the sim. By the looks of things i might have to go back to w7. thanks

I have made an usb stick with Win 10 with the tool dedicated for that. First can I not simply wait to use it or must I actually install W10 before July 29 (to get it free)? And if I really must perform the W10 install can I simply not try avoiding a clean install like this. Try to upgrade my current W7 and if I there are some problems then perform a clean reinstall of Win 10 ? On my other computer I did an upgrade and experienced no problem with that although I didn't have any flight sim or games on it. Has anybody tried a simple upgrade on their flight sim system and having it work without problems ?

Didn't like it. Rolled it back to Windows 7. Decided since MS has seemed to fix a lot of the issues with Windows 10 and more and more people here are starting to like it and that the driver issues related with FSX and the various addons seems to be fixed. So..I started to take the plunge to upgrade to Windows 10. However I can't seem to get past the first reboot screen after it downloads the files and gets me to click on the EULA. It wants to reboot over and over and resume from there. I did that at least 20 times and it restarts Windows 7-64 at the exact same spot. "Windows 10 is ready to install. Click Restart to begin." Any ideas? John Bradley A…
