WIN10 OS Forum
WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

I´m very pleased with the smoothness and performance, since i updated my system to the Insider build 15060/15061. I have Game Mode enabled and streaming/recording disabled. So, for those who like to test betas/previews, i can fully recommend the latest Insider builds.

When I first upgraded a week or so ago, FSX would not progress beyond the splash screen without giving a fatal error and crashing. I tried right clicking and running as an administrator, I attempted running in compatibility mode for numerous versions of windows and I still was unable to enter the sim beyond the splash screen. I reverted back to windows 7 and all was normal again. Yesterday, I reformatted my hard drive and updated windows 7 and then updated to Windows 10 thinking I would have a different experience. The first hitch came when the dvd installer wouldn't even begin to write the files. After numerous install attempts and no progress being made, I threw in…

Has anyone switched from windows 7 to windows 10? I switched to windows pro so I can upgrade to 32GB of ram this weekend. Perforamnce is about the same I would say but the CPU is running at 90% where before it was rarely above 60 or 70% unless in a heavy autogen area. Any ideas?

Hi All Been about a fortnight since I last played any P3D. I've went to go and do a flight and plugged in my Saitek X52 and I get an immediate BSOD with the faulting module SaiH0255.sys and System Thread Exception Not Handled. Never had the drivers installed before but tried installing them to see if it changes anything and it doesn't, still receive the same error. x64 W10

Update for Windows 10 Pro 64 to 1607 went smoothly yesterday...just had to reinstall DisplayLink driver. Started testing various apps...found the update had de-activated FSX. Tried a repair...fails with InstallShield error...usually 1628. Tried an uninstall...Accel Pack uninstalled but FSX failed with fail to load uninstall helper DLL error. Accel Pack will not reinstall as it says FSX has to be activated. FSX will still launch and work but will shut down in 30 minutes as expected since it has been deactivated. Nothing I have found on the Internet has worked. As you can imagine...many years of add-ons. Almost at the point to clean the registry of all FSX related e…

Several times already, in the middle of a flight, I had an unexpected system shutdown. The picture freezes and there's a sort of rattling noise comming from the speakers. When I look in the event viewer, there are only a couple of messages about the system not shutting down properly, but nothing at all about what caused this. The last entry in the event viewer, before the shut down, was well over 2 hours before it happened. Theres no warning, no error, theres plenty of VAS available, the program isnt slowing down, everything seems to work as well as it gets... I really dont have a clue what to look for, any ideas at all, about where to start, would be great.

All, I currently have a PNY CS1131 240GB SSD, and I store P3D on it. I have 111GB left on it, and I was thinking about moving Windows on it, but would that mean I have to transfer all my videos, pictures, etc. onto it? Or can I just do strictly the OS? If I could just move the OS, what would be the easiest way possible? Thanks, Grant

I posted this in the Aivlasoft forum also but figured it would not hurt to post here also! I keep on getting this error when using EFB. I have uninstalled and reinstalled EFB, but the error is still there. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SimConnect but still get the error. I have tested my network and all is working good, able to open create and delete files on both systems so my shared files are ok! Simconnect is working good since I use AS16 and I do not get disconnected. I know that Simconnect is only used to connect EFB to P3Dv3.4. If only running EFB Display on my Slave PC and only running the Provider on my Master PC they both connect but after a few …

I am curious as to why my desktop PC does not update the 3 different desktop backgrounds it uses. Another Win 10 machine I use changes them to ones I have never seen before, meanwhile at home the same 3 keep rotating, always the same three. Yes these are the Windows ones, not my own pics. I would like get some variance like the other win 10 machine I have seen on.

Hi folks, I'm having an issue with my sound driver. Tried to update the driver last week, but it keeps failing and I receive an 0xE0000346 error code, and I am unable to find a way to fix it. The issue started whereby I couldn't get the ATIS/briefing communications from ASN, and read on their forum it maybe a driver issue so went ahead and downloaded the lastest from ASUS, but it could not complete the operation. Any ideas on how I can rectify? M/B ASUS Z170-A O/S Windows 10 64-bit Thanks

Recently my dedicated FSX rig with W10 has been sluggish. When I right click on the Windows icon I do not have the windows options popup menu show and right clicking on the screen works intermittently. In addition, when I launch command prompt or almost any system window the window "draws" very slowly (I don't see the contents until waiting for five minutes) and the response to commands like SFC /scannow is very slow. Is there a recommended guide for how to systematically diagnose Windows? I see lots of info on the web of course, but has anyone a guide on how to troubleshoot methodically? Thanks.

Hi folks, I am looking for advice. My current system runs FS 2004 in a fully enclosed attic cockpit with 5 screens. MaxiVista runs two screens for control panels via 2 slave PCs. The main PC - (Dell Optiplex 780 with Intel® Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz, 2992 Mhz, 2 Core(s), and AMD HD 5450) runs 3 screens using a Matrox TH2GO digital version, providing forward and both sides exterior views. OS Windows 7 pro. It is a very modest main PC but it works well for FS 2004 generally comfortably achieving 45 fps with most of the main sliders well to the right. My plan is to upgrade to FSX (or possibly P3D which I know very little about), mainly for the add-on se…

Just ot pass on my experince of this update. Had a nightmare, my FIP panels failed to work. Restoring my system prior to this update all worked fine. After many attempt I determined the following. I dont normalluy plug the FIP in at PC boot, only when I load up FSX. never had a problem doing this. Now the only way I can get the FIP to work since this latest update is to have them plugged in BEFORE booting PC. Seem ok if I do that but not if have been using the PC for other activies and then decide to plug them in to use FSX. iI may be something I did, but after 4 hours of restoring ( 3 times) this is the conclusion I have come to Hope this inf…

Hi all I run P3D in windowed mode and sometimes reference open apps from my taskbar below during flight. Is there a Windows tweak/setting which will maintain P3D sound output when referencing another app window. I find the abrupt sound muting quite annoying when referencing other windows/apps. thanks erich

Having just upgraded 2 almost identical machines from Win7 to Windows 10, I find I have a serious problem on just one, that I haven’t been able to fix… On the main FS server PC, although the device manager shows no issues, the wired internet and network connection keeps dropping out. It works fine on initial boot up, but once I attempt to copy or move a file from the main PC to the client, it fails and the connection drops out. It happens with either an upgrade to Win10, or a clean installation. Both motherboards are variants of the Asus P8Z68-V, a Pro version using an Intel Gigabit LAN chip, and an LE with a Realtek controller. I’d really like to have all my mach…

Hello, I have a multi-boot system that I use for P3D and all other games on separate instances of OS (2 boots). I think I have too many disk drives in my box connected to the mobo: 3xHDDs and 4xSSDs. Does it make sense performance-wise to disable unused HDDs/SSDs in Device Manager in each instance of OS? Thanks, Dirk.

Now they tell us! I still have Windows 7 but will be upgrading to the 7700K soon and it will be mandatory to install Windows 10 then. Still, thought the article at the link interesting. http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/microsoft%E2%80%99s-agrees-windows-10-upgrade-was-pushed-too-aggressively.html
