For those that don't already know, there is another one of big Windows updates coming next week. I already have it. You have to do some baby-sitting. It didn't hurt my FSX, but then mine is pretty stock. It deleted an old copy of ccleaner on one computer, but not a newer version on another computer. The update said the old version did not work with the update. But no real problems for me. Just a heads up for those who hate updates.

I am ordering components for a new i8700 based PD3 computer. In the past I have always gone with the Pro version of Windows, although I can not for the life of me remember why. So, my question is do I need to order the Pro version or will the Home version work for a PD3 build? I do, on occasion, fly online. However, other than a Home network, I will not be doing anything else with it, other than flight simulation. Thanks,

Hi All, I am running 3 monitors connected to 2 video cards with HDMI cables. After the update finished only 2 monitors were alive. Somehow the update doesn't like 3 HDMI cables, so now i have to connect one monitor with DVI. Does anyone know why this would happen? Or how to fix it?

Hello All, I'm trying to build my Opencockpits setup, but I have stuck at the beginnings, which drives me crazy. SIOC recognizes the USB expansion card, but SIOC monitor don't - the window is blank. I had a lot of difficulties with windows 10 before (especially with flightsim hardwares), so I think it is a windows issue too. I have tried the following: - disable energy saving for this USB device through a registry hack (worked with Saitek Radio panel) - tried to use another master card - tried to connect master card to another connector on usb expansion card - disabled the firewall - tried to run as administrator - tried compatibility mode (win …

Okay so I bought 3 airports from sim market this morning and 2 of them when I get to the screen that says authorization code I put in the code and the installer will not let me hit the next button if someone can please help me that’d be awesome Thanks, Brendan I tried to get a picture of my problem in here but I can’t do it right now but the next button is greyed out and it won’t let me do anything to it. Also the airports I bought were KMCO, KSEA, and the one in instanbul I don’t remember the icao code for that and KMCO worked just fine it’s the other two that are giving me problems and I am trying to install them to p3d v4

Hi, Just wondered if win10 slows down p3dv4.2 initial loading and if there is a way to speed it back up. I recently upgraded from win7 pro to win10pro which was a clean install of windows 10 and also a clean install of p3d I then reinstalled all my addons so now i have a more or less identical setup to the windows 7 pro setup pre upgrade. But i find now that the initial loading seems to take much longer to get to the selection screen with windows 10 Is there anything that i can disable that might be the cause of this slowdown. Even when idle, there are hundreds of writes to my SSD system drive. Why?

I have a Dell 8500 with a i7-3770 and 8 GB Ram and an AMD Radeon HD 7570 video card running Win 8.1. I have a dedicated 250 GB SSD for my flight simulator system. I'm feed up with Win 8.1 and am thinking about doing a clean Win 10 install. I'm looking for recommendations for the follow-on systems. Should I stick with FSX and all my PMDG aircraft or bite the bullet and install P3DV4 which would also require new software? Thanks in advance for the suggestions. James M Driskell

I'm new to Windows 10 and just a got new rig with W10 Pro on it. I installed P3D V4.2 as administrator and PMDG as administrator, however when I try to edit the PMDG aircraft configuration file inside the P3D folder, it says I am not allowed and must contact the administrator. (I am the administrator). Now if I drag the file to the desktop I can edit it there, save it and put it back into the P3D folder. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, I've upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for three months. Since then, there is no problem with my PC at all and I use it daily. However, today after powering up it, I noticed it ran slower than other days. I open up Task Manager and found that one svchost.exe process (many of them were running there) was using a lot of my CPU resource. I can kill it and of course, I have killed it, however, after a while, it automatically starts and begin to eating my CPU. What should I do now?

I have not had crashes like this since moving from fsx to p3d once p3d4 came out. Tonight I came back home to my p3d crashed and an error message that p3d encountered an error. The windows logs say ntdll.dll I had this in fsx sometimes but not p3d. Around the same time as that message, windows update ran by itself to get the latest updates released and installed. Is that a coincidence or could that have caused my crash?

Hello to all. Does anyone here have FS Force? More specifically, do you use a MSFFB2 joystick? If you have ever experienced frequent loss of forces I’d like to hear from you! My windows got updated yesterday. I noticed that windows wanted me to update when I shut it down last night. Today I notice several irregularities: - My Majestic dash 8 isn't starting in a cold and dark config. Instead it starts on battery, and none of the switches do anything except move from one position to another when I manipulate them. FMC dont come on, and the radio stacks dont turn on. Turning the battery off doesnt do anything. Restarting the sim doesnt help. - Prepar3d v4.1 just hangs when I shut it down. It's window dissapear, but its on the taskbar showing as active. I recently rebuilt my computer from the ground up in November, and have had nothing by issues with windows 7 since. I finally got so feed up that I upgraded to windows 10. As I got everything installed, I noticed that the internet seem unusually slow and keeps timing out. With Vpilot, I have a good 30-45 min online before I get an error resulting in disconnection "10060) A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond". Noticed that after installing the latest Nvidia Driver update, 390.77 my Windows 10 Creators 64 bit screensaver stopped working. After hours of trying the various listed fixes I discovered that Nvidia installs the driver settings for Broadcast LIVE to ON, which prevents the screensaver starting because LIVE is a background process preventing Screensaver start.. To remedy this and for screensaver to work again, you need to manually turn the Broadcast LIVE setting to OFF in the GeForce Experience settings menu Hope this helps anyone having the same issue and saves wasted time trying to fix.

After using Avast for a long time I thought I would try Windows Defender out. One newbie question - how do I add exclusions for real-time scanning only or isn't this possible in Windows Defender? I don't want any scanning of my P3D files and folders in real-time but when performing a manual or scheduled scan I do want all files and folders scanned. Or maybe the footprint using Windows Defender is small enough not having to worry about performance issues even with real-time scanning enabled for all files and folders?

Hi all--- Have just switched to P3Dv4 and wanting to download it and all my other stuff on W10 . Have used I E 11 before but now see that Edge is the browser here. I have tried to convert to IE11 but seems very unstable on my new machine. Has anyone had any problems downloading with Edge? I see in the P3D guide that a downloader is promoted but I have also seen many other posts saying this is not a real requirement. Any advice on this and to which one is simple to use?

I have FSX and FSX-SE on the same machine and use Lua scripts with FSUIPC to display things like a/c checklists. The Win10 1709 update has impacted the Lua displays in FSX, but not in FSX-SE. In FSX now I can see the lists 'grow' in size, e.g., 10 short lines of info do not flash on the screen as a single display unit, but instead you can see the list build up in size, and sometimes there is quite a bit of jitter as the list builds. Once complete, however, the display is stable. In FSX-SE, nothing has changed as far as I can tell. The lists display 'in a flash' as a single unit as they did before the Win10 upgrade. Back in the day I followed NickN's advice to optimize Windows XP and Windows 7 but have no clue where to look for advice on Windows 10. I have found a few people on YouTube etc. with advice for optimizing for gaming but have no clue if they actually know what they are talking about. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
