WIN10 OS Forum

WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

Currently running fsx Gold addition, with windows 10, keep on getting this error message from Symantec endpoint protection, which is Norton, under Quarantine, listed as a risk Trojan Gen 2/ flie name filt1chk4.dll/location C::\\Windows\SysWOW64\. I go to Quarantine and correct it and changes it to Restore. Everytime it ruins my flight controller even when I try to calibrate it. I have a CH Yoke. The controller runs crazy cant get the plane off the ground even after calibrating it. How would I correct this kind of a problem ? By the way I do see where it is located.. I change it to restore all the time and the same thing happens. thanks, Ronny …

  2. If you're using nVidia Inspector, you can now get Antialiasing (AA) in full-screen mode in older games such as FS2004 and FSX in Windows 10: (From the A2A Simulations forum, posted by molleh) Towards the top of the profile settings in your nVidia Inspector profile you will see a setting called "Antialiasing compatibility." Set that to "0x004412C1 (Diablo III)" and it should work again. Apparently many other games that run in exclusive fullscreen mode require a similar change to the antialiasing compatibility flag to have the profile settings stick like they should. In the Fall Creators Update, MS changed how fullscreen rendering works - for example, yo…

Hello All, I have used FSX boxed edition for close to a decade using Windows 7 and have invested at least a couple of thousand dollars on all of the aircraft and scenery add ons. (Its probably more but I don't want to think about it!) I have upgraded my hardware a couple of times during this period but these new parts have all still been Windows 7 compatible. If I upgrade my system to the latest hardware now it will require a change to Windows 10. The key question is this: What percentage (roughly) of all of these addons I have invested in will not work under Windows 10? Will my boxed edition of FSX even work with Windows 10? Regards, Steve.

Apparently Microsoft dropped some updates on my Win 10 Home Edition machine last night (8/15/18 about 1 AM). Now FSX will not come up.. I have just rebuild my machine with a new HD and a clean install of Win 10 Home. I reinstalled FSX on a SSD (D:/FSX). Until now the system has been working OK while I worked out some kinks but as of this morning, I'm dead in the water. Can anyone suggest where I might look to determine my problems or suggest any utilities that might disclose the matter? Thanks in advance, Jim Driskell

In the last 2 weeks or so, I've been getting the dreaded Blue Screen (BSD). The only hardware I added to my Windows 10 (latest update) system has been a Canon ink jet printer (model TR8520). The screen reads as follows: Bluescreen: C "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info and then you can restart." Stop Code: Driver_IRQL_NOT_NET10.SYS LESS_OR_EQUAL I would really appreciate any advice you can give me to correct this hardware and/or software problem. Thank you. Stan ps. I only get this screen once or twice per day. Most of the time, computer runs well.

  6. Hello Due to my 4k monitor not displaying correctly on my Win764 and having read some posts in this Forum, I understand that the 64bit version will work well on P3Dv4.3. However just wanted to check if the following items will still work. SPAD.neXt for Logitech/Saitek Panels Input Director Seamless connection to another PC on network running Win7 64. Grateful for feedback and for any additional information on any other sim software that won't work. Thanks

Hi, I've been searching for 4 days now to try and remedy this issue, I'm pretty sure it occurred just after the 1803 creators update but can't be positive, I've got an error with the Intel (R) Management Engine Interface in the device manager, This devise cannot start. (Code 10), STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE, I've searched the web downloaded multible drivers from Intel and the one provided by the MSI download centre (system, MSI GT72 2QD, GTX970M, 32gig ram, 500g SSD, 1TB HD), no driver wants to install and if they do it last's a few seconds and wham the fault is back, I've spoken to MSI but not really helpfull or just don't want to know about it, I'm having random things …

I haven't used FSX in a couple of years, and I just got a new computer running Win 10. Please teach me how I can optimize my experience, as far as compatibility with Win 10. What does it take to get the fastest action, image detail, so on, and so forth. I've enjoyed Flight Simulator for years, but I'm not sure I was able to get the best features, that it offers, to work properly. Thanks.

  13. Hi all Just re-installed W10 - no real issues except my app Windows are really fuzzy. I'm running a 4K 55' TV, 1080Ti, and my screen resolution is set to native. Flightsim runs fine, no issues with resolution, but I cant get app UI's and other Windows to appear in high resolution. Not had this issue before and I've installed Windows quite a few times in the past.

Two evenings ago I received the Windows 10 64 Home edition update KC4043961, pretty massive I guess as it took a long time to install, including several restarts. When it was done, my high-end PC, which was running Prepar3d V4.1 beautifully, became a stuttering mess. I noticed this update modified several 'configuration' settings, which I tried to put back to the way I had them: My Lock Screen was changed from Picture to Windows Spotlight, which I set back to Picture. I got a Microsoft OneCloud sign-in start menu (which I opted out of from the get go, so I disabled it) Customer telemetry data collection which I had disabled, was turned back on, so i…

Since Aerosoft just has announced that their new BUS was tested in W10 environment and no support is planned for W7, I'd like to upgrade OS, but to keep my existing P3Dv4.1 installation at the same time. A few questions I have before I proceed. 1. I have stable W7-PRO installation on a custom-build PC. If I buy W10 Pro from MS website, may I install W10 over existing W7 installation OR should I wipe W7 out first and then start installing W10 from the scratch (and obviously P3D as well). 2. Should I update MB, sound and video drivers myself OR W10 will automatically do all the updates for me? 3. Is there any FAQ that helps to improve W10/P3D peaceful coexis…

  19. I have windows 10, but its telling me it won't install a recent update from 1803, because I have Symantec endpoint protection., Norton. Its telling me to uninstall it then would download this update for version 1803. The problem is I do not have the key to reinstall Norton, and then I would loose my anti viral protection, which I do not want to do. Is there any solution to avoiding this specific update 1803 ? I went into advanced options and delayed it for a few days.

I have a small private network at home connecting 2 PCs via a BT hub. I can see one of my PCs on the network schematic, but not the other. It appears that I have 3(?) names networks (don't ask me how this happened … lost in the mysteries of time). These are Ethernet, Ethernet2, and Ethernet3 all Private Network. Now my main PC connects to Ethernet2 and the other to Ethernet and I believe that this may be the fundamental reason why I can only "see" one PC on the schematics. It did seem that the old "Homegroup" facility was able to overcome this issue to a large degree. I can see a facility "Network Reset" does anyone have any experience with this as it seems a dr…

Due to unknown causes, possibly Windows updates (but not necessarily), I am having major boot issues. My PC takes 3 or 4 attempts to boot, going through the Windows reset and diagnose procedure each time until it finally boots if I am lucky. My query is, I have my P3D v4 on a separate SSD and backed up. If I reset Windows, it will delete all my programs. Do I have to re-install all P3D programs to get the OS to recognise them or will P3D still run from its own partition? I fear the answer is not what I want to hear!! Ian Harrison

  23. Yesterday's Windows Updates rendered my Chrome virtually unusable. I could not reach any secure sites with Chrome. Could reach all of them with Edge! Could also not get to any Google sites to sign in to my Google account to attempt to manage Chrome. Spent four hours last night and this morning searching for and trying solutions. Finally gave up and rolled Windows 10 back to the version before yesterday's updates. Anyone else had this experience? To roll back, hold the shift key down when you select Start, Shut Down or Sign Out, Restart. Your system will start the restart process and then give you options. Select Reset. then Advanced Options, and one of the op…

I discovered the "Organization " bug that happens to some users in the latest W10 update. It is a good idea to fix, as some settings you won't be able to change. I am using W10 Pro, so not sure if this is a problem in Home edition. Here is the fix https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/some-settings-are-managed-by-your-organization-windows-10/
