WIN10 OS Forum

WIN10 is the next OS release coming from MS. We are sure there are many questions regarding the use of FSX, P3D, FSX-SE, X-Plane and other sims in this new system. We have opened this forum for the community to focus on that OS and the impact of FS use within it. You can also post questions if you are having problems with WIN10.

I did a clean WinX install on my gaming laptop this morning, so far so good. Decided to try out Edge but when I surf to avsim.com and click the Sign In button, nothing happens. Is AVSIM compatible with Edge, or is there some setting I need to use to enable sign in?

I just updated to Windows 10 from 7. I found on loading FSX that there was white flashes when moving the mouse around. I had also upgraded nvidia drivers to their latest Win10 version, to no avail. Then when accessing the menu bar the sim freezes. I installed Steve's DX10 Fixer and switched to DX10 and everything seems to be OK. Has anyone else experienced such problems with Win10, FSX in DX9 mode? My system is Intel i5-4690k, MSI gtx760ti graphics card. Stuart

Hello guys,I'm one of the Windows insiders of Win 10. I began to use Win10 at build 10041. I tried to install FSX and some Add-ons in every build and they all work well in previous version of Win10. Earlier, MS pushed the build 10240(RTM) for every insiders. But after update, I found that all add-ons by PMDG in my computer(737 and 777)can't work. After I select them in FSX, FSX will NO RESPONSE. But strangely, only PMDG's add-ons will make FSX no response, others(like aerosoft Airbus and FSLAB Concorde)in my computer will not. I tried to reinstall PMDG737 and PMDG777, but failed. Then I reinstall DX and open DX10 Preview, it also failed. My CPU is i5 4570 and …

  5. I swear every OS that comes out of Microsoft just gets worse and worse and users loose more and more control. Looks like I'll be sticking with 7 for quite awhile. http://www.theverge.com/2015/6/1/8696949/windows-10-feature-loss

  6. I have a new PC, as in, weeks old. I can't seem to get Windows 8 to update to 10, it doesn't recognize that there is an update. Where do I go? I reserved my free copy awhile ago.

  7. Good Morning All, I received an email this morning from PCWorld, who had an article published with a title similar to my post. The article can be found here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2952888/windows/windows-7-holdouts-why-diehard-users-refuse-to-move-to-windows-10.html#tk.nl_pcwbest Given the feedback so far on Windows 10 and the information published in the article, I'd really love to hear from the developers of flight sim software to give some insight into what they think will happen years from now as far as support for legacy OS. For example, if I vehemently refused to install Windows 10 now, given that Microsoft will support Windows 7 (security pat…

Hi Guys, today I upgraded to Windows 10 and everything went well. But due to P3D I got a problem: everytime I start P3D I choose a plane and airport and start it. Plane and airport are loaded as usual, but a few seconds after everything is loaded, P3D crashes to desktop. 12. Hey guys, The graphics smoothness is amazing with P3D, I am not even using FFTF - and everything is slick. We just need LM to fix the damn VAS issues. I can't enjoy my Orbx FTX due to OOMs. Don't rush on the upgrade wait for all the news to trickle down. I had no problems upgrading to 10, but then again I am very comfortable on wiping my OS and reinstalling again, if things break. Have a great day If you do install Windows 10 - make sure to go over all privacy settings. It is free for a reason, and I would recommend that you disable send all you browsing/typing/etc personal info crap to MS. It is very easy to disable

With Win10 around the corner only few weeks away I wanted to ask you guys who already tried it out, what is the latest status on how P3Dv2.5 performs under Win10...is it worth upgrading on day 1 when Win10 is released? Things I'm thinking of is if there is already an advantage with the DX12 under the hood of Win10 or if it won't give you any benefits until LM (hopefully) works towards full DX12 compatibility. I recently replaced my 1st gen Titan with a 980 Ti allowing me to run P3D @ 4K and although the performance is already really good running under Win7 of course I would like my new hardware to be utilized in the best way possible.

I have switched to the RTM of Windows 10, mainly because I was sick of the joystick dropouts of Windows 8. Overall I am pleased with it, however FSX has a tendency to freeze after a while under 10. Does anyone else have this problem? John

  17. Well, this is an interesting development. Dropped Windows 10 onto my test box to start playing around and getting more familiar with her prior to her official release, and I slapped in my FSX:SE install real quick to see how the simulator would work. So far, so good. One of my pending questions was whether or not the Level-D 767 would function under FSX and Win10 (it does not function under Windows 8, so I was curious). I fired up the Flight1 wrapper, and.... nothing. nada. zilch. No installation windows, nothing popping up. Opening up the task manager, the "Flight1 Purchasing Module" has started and is pulling about 12%-14% CPU time, but no windows and no activit…

  20. ...reserved my W10 Pro download. I see that some are reporting higher FPS within their sims..and some who are using it have posted a much faster, crisper, user experience with the beta. So...here's crossing my fingers, that all my flight sims and 3rd P will work in the W10 Pro sandbox. Before though...I will make a full complete system backup of my now installed W7 Ultimate. Just in case.... Anybody else, reserve?
