Folks, Recently I talked to a retired A320 instructor and examiner, and he let me know their DH for CAT IIIB approaches were fixed to 17' RA at his particular airline, because he said "it's the lowest altitude from where it could be shown the aircraft would go around without touching the ground". I wonder if there are similar examples of such values for the NG, and what they would be. Related question, how would a procedure look like that involves both AH and DH? I understand IIIB doesn't need DH (does that imply I use AH? Or is IIIB always linked to AH, regardless of DH usage?), so what are the actual options for IIIB -- DH, no AH- DH and AH- AH only- combination of any …

Hi all, Most likely the error sits in front of the screen and if so, I need advice. I'm sitting with my 738WL somewhere in the Andes (SA46). By using my own set of airport data, extracted with Pete Dowson's MakeRunways tool, the airport is available in the FMC - so far no problem. I don't know if this is working at intended, but if start up the APU, then open the APU bleed, I get duct pressure around 10 PSI, booth needles as I have the iso valve on auto, so one would expect it to be open with only APU bleed and no engine bleed, and this seems to be the case. Then I turn on the left pack to AUTO, and both duct pressure needles jump to about 38 PSI, turn the right pack to AUTO and both needles fall to about 18 PSI. Now my though was the duct pressure should be very high when the APU bleed is open and no packs are on, and then as I turn on packs they should then go down, yet with one pack on the pressure jumps. After takeoff, after reaching acceleration altitude, I should be able to manually select 'N1' on the MCP to set climb power but when I try to do this nothing happens. It seems that climb power can only be set by the autothrust according to the height set in the setup options. Is anyone able to manually select 'N1' on the MCP? How are you getting this to work?

At touchdown I noticed this bright light on one side of the aircraft, seems to me it is supposed to be my landing light reflection. Anybody seen it like this before? Please disregard as I am having trouble with screenshot and don't know how to delete this post.

I just leave my bank angle selector at 30 degrees regardless of the stage of flight. What setting should I be using for departure, approach etc? I'd like to use realistic settings.

Fellows, last night I experienced something I have never had happen in FSX prior to these two times with the NGX or any other a/c. I had it happen twice last night and it seems the results can somewhat be duplicated since it was a similiar situation I was in when it happened both times. I had experience a few of the panel freezes in prior HF versions, but in all of those I was always able to exit FSX, where as in this case I couldn't even get out of FSX and required a complete reboot.1st - I was doing a flight from KFLL to KMCO using the route ARKES1 ARKES LLNCH BAIRN2, departing KFLL 27R and arriving KMCO ILS 35L, cruise altitude FL220. Hey everyone, Basically in another thread a few people mentioned that I need to learn the basics, which I completely agree with. Just tried to do an Autoland at YSSY 16L on Vatsim and it seems that the RWY was about 100m too far to the left and i was going to land on a parallel taxiway! I had to disable both CMD's and fly it by hand (Luckily it was CAVOK :() Has anyone noticed this or has my FMC got a database error?Nick

Has anyone tried RealTrim with the NGX? I'm going to try it when I get home but I don't want to waste my time if it won't work. http://code.google.com/p/fscode/wiki/RealTrim I'm not sure if I'm the only one that oscillates through the sky, baffling the A/T with pitch changes whilst trying to set the elevator trim with a CH Yoke? The justifiable ranting of the RC controller doesn't improve my mood. Any tips?

Hi all,The new hotfix seems to have broken the fix page. I can enter a point in the scratch-pad but when pressing 1L key, nothing happen....The push cursor is active and using keys tab+F1 doesn't work neither.I did a complete reinstall from the full installer (1.00.2922) and the cdu fix page worked again. I then installed the hotfix (after the 4 aircraft.cfg were delated, as Ryan suggested) and the issue has come back again.Do you have the same glitch or something went wrong during my HF 2987 installation ?Many thanksGeorges C.

I read jealously about CTD's.. I have tried three flights from egcc to gclp each flight has ended with the pc freezing at a different point. No alt del will work, the only option is to pull the power.The pc is coming up to two years old, and I can't remember the spec. If it's relavent I will get them. I do now that it's running w7 64 bit, has a decent gnu and 4Gb ram. I am not sure where to start looking and it's now frustrating me.Grateful for any hints or tipsDavid Powell

After playing about since release of the NGX i came to the conclusion that most my CTD;s were caused by my own greed!! ie wanting the highest settings, the most extreme power etc etc etc Now i have got the balance!! look glorious and runs smooth with no problems hence i say my issues were with myself being to greeedy!!!! thought i would share that with you!! bit of a useless post but hey, there u go! ps, ok i couldnt resist, but the ONLY thing i wish for now, is....turbulence!!! Hi all- Is there a keyboard sequence to clear the forward cockpit view when using the VC? I currently use F10 (after hitting W several times to get a clear view) to do this, cycling between the VC (F9) and F10. It would be nice to do this directly in the VC. Hope this makes sense. I use this while taxiing at the bigger airports because of frame rate issues. Thanks,Mark

Hey everyone. I was hoping I could get some help with my NGX. The external textures seem to be a bit jagged around edges, almost as if Anti-aliasing isn't on. A forum search lead me to a post about using video card anti-aliasing and turning off FSX anti-aliasing, but this did not work for me, unless I didn't do it right. I am using a Nvidia 8800GT card if that helps in helping me. I know this is an issue on my end and not PMDG as I've seen videos and the textures look perfect. Hope someone could help me. Thanks. I'm wondering first how many here use EZCA for views, and how many use those provided with the NGX? For those who use EZCA, how do you get the HUD lined up correctly with the captain's viewpoint? Seems that each touch of the arrow keys moves the eye-point a discrete distance, and the point at which it gets to doesn't always correspond with the best eye-point to view the HUD. Regarding the NGX views, are they customized for the "widescreen" option in the fsx.cfg file? I assume so..... For those who don't use EZCA- is there a better way to get to certain views in the VC and/or wing-views than the "A" and "S" keys, and shift/1-through-9? Is it possible to assigen keys t…
