I'm sure I will get flamed, but here are my impressions (opinions of course). The download was quick-- maybe 9 or 10 minutes. Install was easy, however you have to setup an MS account (already had one for Xbox). Once installed you have to play an intro mission. Not bad, but should have had a skip button. I did like the fact that crashes were modeled because I felt the immediate urge to fly into the balloon (frankly I was expecting that they would not include any collisions to sanitize the experience). The performance was good, and it should be because the graphics while decent aren't on par with FSX and it's addons-- though better than stock FSX for sure. The water lo…

Although I am very impressed with the quality of the graphics in Flight is it possible to overcome the shimmer on distant tree leaves and some other objects especially if they are very long and thin in width?I have an Intel 2 core quad Q9550 CPU at 2.83 GHz core system with 4 gig ram and a GeForce 9800 GTX graphic card with my 24 inch screen set to 1920 x 1200 resolution. I have medium game settings except for shadows which is set to low.I have tried changing those global 3D setting, in the NVIDIA control pane, which are not set to application controled but so far I cannot eliminate the shimmer so my graphics is not yet rock solid like I could achieve in FSX.

Hello all! I'm fairly new to flight simulators (I remember playing the old MS Flight Simulator on my dad's computer as a kid, mostly weaving around the buildings in Chicago and pretending I was in the death star trench shooting TIE fighters or something. ). I was hesitant to try out MS Flight since I've always been kind of intimidated by the complexity of flight sims, but I'm glad I decided to. I've been having a bunch of fun with it and even bought the adventure pack and the P-51.Anyway, I am having some problems controlling the planes. Specifically the airplane keeps wanting to go right, even with the mouse dead center and no keys pressed. In order to fly straight I hav…

Just brief mention, I did read the interview and like many have said it was simply politician talk not trying to promise anything but say a lot of words, but that's not what this post is about.I feel, due to the fact that graphics libraries (such as OpenGL, DirectX) keep moving forward (due to advances in graphics hardware) there's always going to be a desire to see a better looking simulator. With all the 3rd parties out there and nice revenue that came from sim enthusiasts I don't see why they should not sit down together and release a competitor to Flight.Even if it starts out only as yet another Hawaii but as long they add content that is really missing from Flight li…

Hello,I was a Flight skeptic, but I'm trying to give it a fair shot. There are some things that I really like about Flight, such as the wind / cross-wind modelling and airport textures (no longer being able to see airport from 20 nm away as in FSX). But I have two questions:1. When doing jobs, is there a way to turn off the direction indicator / marker? Kind of defeats the purpose of having realistic airport visiblity from the distance.2. Can you exit Flight half way through a job and come back later to finish it? I tried this once, and it dumped me back in the same location but not within the actual job. Thanks in advance.Galen

Greetings to all I am an old (67) flight simmer and have been around these simulators from Flight Unlimited, All MS stuff since FS 95 and combat sims etc.I have gone from wire frame aircraft on through the PMDG 747 and from no startup procedure and so on.But you know what? MS Flight is probably the best thing I have seen in a long time. Of course it has bugs and frustrations but it provides something the big iron and full featured sims don't have. The ability to just load it up, climb in, and enjoy! Just explore the islands, swap aircraft and do something as silly as a treasure hunt (Aerocache). This program is pure fun when you want to just fly. I hope all of you giv…

Sorry for the long post and certainly many english errors on it (I'm portuguese, and learned English at the high school, loooooong ago, and I didn't have the time to check this post with an online spell checker...).This is what came to my mind after reading JH's interview by Tom:What exactly is FLIGHT bringing us?- First off I am yet to see someone saying FLIGHT didn't bring great moments of game playing, even those I talked to before the release. Some who told me they would never buy any DLC, bought them all the first day after trying the demo mode :-)- Then, and although FLIGHT feels like a game (but, simulation not performed for serious trainning will allways be a game…

Hi all.In these days I was reflecting about a comparison that, in my opinion, can be quite interesting, and I am interested in knowing what are your thoughts.I am a lover of several types of PC simulations, and surely two of the best and most successful series have been MS Flight Simulator and Maxis (and presently EA) Simcity. I would like to present a series of similarities between the two situations:- Both series have more than twenty years, and those of us old enough have fond memories of the first editions, with primitive graphics, but all the charm of new ideas.- FSxx had 10 iterations, following a sort of evolutionary path, with better graphics and more options alo…

Just an interesting tidbit that almost any google search mentioning MsFlight, Microsoft Flight, and various combinations ending with forum all point directly to here. Enjoy the traffic! In the meantime, all this being the case, I wonder if MS will ever even bother with an official forum.....

The Kano model is a marketing concept where a product is favored by the customer due to "delighters" features. These delighters eventually become expected features so that new delighters are needed to continue to drive sales of future product generations. If expected features are omitted from the product this would create negative customer reactions thus driving product sales down.In Flight a new set of delighters have been introduced when compared to the predicate FSX product (faster frame rates for lower end machines, more graphic detail, progressive missions and challenges). At the same time expected features have been taken out (ATC, Track IR integration, third par…

Here's what the editor of AOPA's Flight Training magazine thinks of Flight:http://www.aopa.org/...U4a4ZUcNA-U1LY-Personally, I don't agree. I think Flight can be used, within reason, to introduce basic and advanced concepts of both VFR and IFR flying.

The coffee plantation one. But nonetheless a special one for me as someone who loves coffee.

One of the criticisms I often see repeated in this forum regarding Flight, specifically what it is lacking , is there are no AI aircraft.Ok now, I can attest for certain without a doubt, there most certainly is! I see statements such as " How can this even be considered as being a sim - there are no AI!,Well I am here to tell you, you are wrong - there is most certainly AI in Flight!!Late last night I flew the " Aerobatics Competition" mission in my RV6.At the start of the mission there at Dillingham Airport, I had to sit on just short of the runway, to allow another RV6 to land who had just completed his Aerobatics attempt. AND, I watched him land! I thought WTH?, surely…

But how about supporting the FS community and removing this board? Your interview with MS made it VERY clear they are not interested in supporting the simmer audience, and I don't see why a simmer organization should support them.Give it some thought. And yes, I read your warning. I'm just an agitator who doesn't shut up, every community needs one.

Hi all,I've been going back and forth with FLIGHT, wondering why I'm just not buying into it, after so many hours. Heck, I love sims, all flight sims, so why am I not fully engaged with this thing? As I've stated, I guess I was just hoping for that next "big" sim, the next advance from MS, with a full world (I personally enjoy having the opportunity to fly in different areas of the world)...with upgraded graphics, new dynamics, aircraft, etc. I was bummed to hear that the next step was not going to come in the form we've always expected. I am going to be excited to see how this one unfolds, and may buy into it once I see what MS' plans are.I have been waiting for Aerofl…

Hi everyone. It's been about a year since I've done any flight simming (apart from Wings of Prey) but Microsofts new sim 'Flight' has reawakened my interest in flight simming. So far I'm enjoying Flight a lot but there seems to be one major eliment missing for me - the weather. Is it likely that an add on weather engine such as REX or ASE will ever be available for Flight?

If memory serves me, prior to the release of "Flight" there were some statements in regards to third parties and their participation on the MS DLC store. The gist was that they (TP) would not be able to sell their own products on their websites (or other markets like Simmarket, Avsim, etc), and that the entire transaction, including purchase, patching and delivery would be exclusively thru MS. Assuming that is the case, and a third party signs up with MS, would that exclusivity also preclude them from selling FSX addons? For example, if Carenado sells a Cessna 172 for Flight, would MS allow them to continue to sell a Cessna 172 for FSX? Doesn't seem like it would be …

Just downloaded flight and start playing it (the baloons). After starting the game for the second time I'm still starting (again) at the baloons, over and over again. The options "MAP", "LOAD CHECKPOINT" and "EXIT MISSION" are grayed out so I can't do an other thing. What do I do wrong???

In terms of flight planning, are VORs used as a navigational reference to fly TO (ie, connect the VOR dots to your destination airport), or are they used for radial intercept to fly a straight course to the next destination which could be an airport, a VOR, or another radial? The FSX flight planner seems to offer VOR to VOR naviation which would make the former statement above truthful but this would seem largely inneficient, particularly due to the lack of VORs on the Hawaiian islands. On the mainland for example, I can chart a VOR to VOR course from MSP to ORD and it would seem there are so many VORs to choose from that the course is nearly a straight line. What is the r…

FLIGHT is already the BEST GA simulator ever made available...I Dare hope, MS follows the right track, and releases the DLCs everyone ever dreamed of...Maybe Thursday's Syndrome is affecting my neurons, or having read in the tips when Flight is loading - "You may need an amphibian or an helicopter to get to some aerocaches", having experienced the most convincing wind shifts/gusts available on a PC-based simulator..., but the fact is, the more I feel, the more I taste the sound, graphics, physics (including weather modelling...), and although not having the time to complete missions or follow aerocaches, the more I get covinced this is actually the best GA simulation plat…
