Having started to play a little of Flight of late (bought the add-ons) I have been a little surprised at how twitchy and insubstantial the planes feel in flight?I have calibrated my joystick externally to give me bigger dead zones which has helped a bit with the twitching, but I still feel like I am getting blown around like a paper plane in the slightest breeze when compared to FSX?Is this actually a relatively accurate model of the planes in Flight? Is it just that gale force winds are the norm for a lot of the FLight missions and for Hawaii? Is there something up in my config?Am I just whining and need to improve my pilot skills?Cheers

  3. Ok, my specs:CPU: AMD Athlon 220 x2 @ 2.8 GhzRAM: 4GB DDR3GPU: Nvidia GT430 1GB DDR3 Core clock-700MHz Shader clock-1400MHz Memory clock-600MHzAnyway, I run Flight on everything high, sharpness max, weather medium, texture high or medium depending on where I am. However, anytime I'm near medium or large amounts of trees or buildings, I get stuttering,"jerking" and lower FPS. How's everyone's performance on these settings on a non-gaming machine?

Hello,Has anyone successfully used Flight with nVidia 3D surround? Does it work well, or are there glaring glitches?I am thinking about adding a couple of monitors to my 3D Vision (single monitor) setup, for use with Flight as well as other games, but it's the impact with Flight that would actually push me to do it.Thanks for any advice!SF

Multiplayer competition: WHO CAN FLY THROUGH THE HANGAR THE MOST TIMES IN THREE MINUTES.We position one willing player near the hangar, to act as judge, film the event with Fraps, and to count the number of times each player goes through. You can fly through either side of the hangar. Not hitting other planes is the pilot's responsibility. If you crash you're out. At the end of three minutes the winner is announced, and the film posted at Youtube. Spectators welcome. How bout it? Here's how scoring could be handled by the "judge":Flight conditions might include winds, poor weather. A night competition might be pretty cool, too.

I posted two tutorials about how to use the VOR the way it was intended when they were invented... which is something else than the way they are usually used...! I got some reactions to that and I notice I need to make two things a bit more clear. The tutorials can be found here:http://forum.avsim.n...way-using-vors/http://forum.avsim.n...d-the-easy-way/First of all a 'disclaimer'. I never really understood how to use VORs the way everyone is using them. So I am no expert. The tutorials I posted are based on what I learned THIS week and it uses a completely different method than the common used one. The fact that I feel confident enough to post tutorials and this new topi…

  7. HiI have been flying flight Sims ever since they were invented, way back when?? I had always prided myself on being able to land my aircraft very well, UNTIL!! I stated to try and land Tail Dragger’s in MS Flight, I was getting very annoyed with all the bouncing on down the runway with passengers grunting and groaning, cargo damaged etc. I thought to myself there has got to be a way to land these @#**#@ softly. After reading about Tail Dragger’s on this forum I realized that it is possible.I decided then I needed practice; practice and more practice landing them, after doing touch and goes, which take up a bit of time, I went to the map view moved my little yellow airplane…

About static scenery in Flight: Check this out.http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/707/article/mind-blowing-physics-engine-demonstration/Imagine this phys engine in a flight sim...Environment, crashes, aircraft stress. It would be mind blowing. It would take one serious hardware set-up, but I would be happy to spend the dough if it was ever made.

Recovery is quite painful and what I can do for myself is extremely limited - not fun.So here is my typical day these days - of course hopefully this will change here very soon...Get out of bed in the am, boot up the pc, whilst it is booting, grab the first pain killer of the day and down it. Pour my first cup of yumee coffe.Once PC is at desktop, launch IE9, go to MS Flight forum on Avsim.Start reading and catching up on all the posts during the middle of the night.Once done, go back to read and catch up on all the posts posted, whilst I was catching up on posts posted during the night. Does anyone know if there is any official word from the MS Flight team for which ports to open on your router for MS Flight? Can't seem to find any info except from this post from vultux http://forum.avsim.net/topic/365190-open-ports-to-play-online-in-ms-flight/ so I am not sure if that is reliable. Would really help peoples connection problems to know which ports to open. Thanks.

Something funny between all those so serious Flight discussions !I use the FRENCH version of Flight and flew the "Captain Cook" aerocache."Captain Cook" is translated to "Capitaine Culinaire" , which means "Captain CULINARY" !I landed nearby and walked around the monument. You can even walk on the water with Flight!I signaled the "Capitaine Culinaire" to MS and got the following answer:"Ha that's awesome, as a former chef, I would like to say "thanks for letting us know"... now I should decide if that is amusing enough to leave in or I should put it on the docket to get fixed :)Thanks,Loki, Microsoft Flight Team."Guy

This might just be me, but in every flight sim I've played I've always picked out a spot that was "mine". In FS98 it was a hangar in Portugal, where my tiny airline was based, in FSX it was a house in Greece where I could land my helicopters at the end of the day. So I've gone ahead and claimed a spot in Flight as "My House", and feel the need to share this strange affliction with the forum. First, here are some images of the place I found. The "runway" is the white coral road in the top middle, with the "hangar" at the lower end and the houses at the top, by the water.Buzzing the farm, with the runway in the background and the hangars on the far left. Easiest to land from…

Forward: Excuse any grammar mistakes I'm just going to free flow ramble here.I've alway owned some iteration of Flight Sim and I was your basic take off, land, fly around, land, take off VFR in a 5sq box pilot. Then it would just sit there untouched for months before I had a brief period where I'd play it again. Rinse, repeat. By the time I got old enough (35 now) and settled down in life FSX was out. If I was overwhelmed and "scared" of radio stacks and cockpit gadgets, navigation maps etc etc during my younger days and earlier incarnations of Flight Sim I was even more so with FSX. Something with every iteration never fully touched that aviation bug in me. That bug that…

I've done some flying in the current Hawaii scenery and it's like flying at a holiday destination. I for one am having a good time!Small airports had very little detail in FSX, even if there where lot of GA-planes, so detailed smaller airports in Hawaii... very good IMHO!People at the forum, facebook etc seems to want everything and they want it _now_. I think a little patience wouldn't hurt as we know Flight was released early. But except exotic destinations, where do people like to fly? In FSX... often at their home airport! So when I probably won't get to fly there because the scenery areas will be limited...If I can't fly at my home airport the second best thing would b…

Ok so now after many hours of enjoying Flight, with missions and challenges, my dumb butt has finally figured out how to access the jobs in Flight, thanks to a dialogue that occured in another thread earlier this am. Lol, boy do I still have a lot of things I can do in Flight - and I have not even done any Aerocache hunts yet!So anyway I start off with the job board this afternoon at Hilo. I select the biplane sightseeing tour, figure that one should be fun and relaxing. Oh my gosh, did I get a grumpy passenger. Some dude that use to fly who no longer flies due to being grounded by the FAA or something like that. Well first thing, we go past the first sightseeing marker …

I know this has been discussed frequently, and I know the Flight team is probably aware there are Track IR users out there that would like to see it implented into Flight. I am just one that believes there is strength in numbers.I just wanted to stress again, if you are one of those people that really wants to see Flight natively support Track IR, and you have NOT done so as of yet, please email the Flight team and let your opinion known - in a courteus, professional manner of course.I know Natural Point has stated, the Flight team has all the information required to implement this into Flight and the ball is totally in their court. The more they hear from even more users …

I have not seen much talk in this forum since release, of anyone using their graphics card drivers, specifically through Nvidia Inspector, to control things in Flight like AA and AS, rather than letting the Flight program handle those.Obviously with FSX, there is much tweaking one can and should do, to get the best appearance and performance, and reduce or eliminate stuttering. And the Nvidia Inspector program is a great tool to use, for controlling the graphics card drivers for these things. Very popular to use for FSX.I am sure the reason there is not much discussion, is Flight just performs so well right out of the box - er, digital download I guess I should say. Serio…

Ok gang,So now I have started exploring , and enjoying, accepting some job assignments at the airport - pretty cool now that I know they are there! And to think, all this time I have spent in Flight, just now starting jobs and have not even done 1 Aerocache hunt yet.My oh my, where will the time come from... and I am home recovering from surgery, at some point I will have to get back in the real world, what to do then! LOL, has been a long time since a new flight sim release quite had this effect on me...Yikes - I digress - on to the question:Ok so I have done 3 shorter jobs now, all three pertained to carrying someone. I managed to at least make one person happy! Oh, and …

  20. I've done the virtual cockpit camera tweak (which has been a big help btw) but was wondering:Are there any other tweaks for the Chase camera or Free-look camera to alter it's default settings?I'd like to set one as a high angle rear cam for taxiing (for example). I've tried playing with some of the settings (as per the vc-perspective tweak) but don't really know what settings to change...Any ideas?

Hi everyone! I have read few topics that all confused me in one thing - many people said that Flight is not a sim, but rather a game / arcade game. Now I am not a pilot nor a HC simmer, but I have taken my time with sims since FS 98. Now for one thing I do understand that Flight has a far more narrower focus then FSX or x-plane, no problem there. That for sure doesn't mean it is not a sim - that has to been decided on bases of what Flight encompases, not the other way around. Currently it's focused on flying with small aircraft, nothing more.So what in what Flight does does make it unrealistic? Why cannot be called a sim in what it already does from your perspective?

I`m able to perfectly land the Icon, RV6, and the Stearman. but i can not handle the Maule during landing.Chances are higer to maker a "softer" landing when the aircraft has overweight an d i am on a long runway. But i never managed it to do a real soft landing, only accidentally.During flare out i hit the ground to hard, or i`m climbing again and then the runway gets short, especially on short fields. How to do a good flare out and land the Maule soft?

  25. I've completed all the missions, challenges, and aerocaches, purchased all the DLC, and have done jobs and multiplayer. Now, I'm left with what I had in previous simulators in that I pretty much have to "make up" my next adventure. Since it's release, I have thoroughly enjoyed having a 'purpose' in my flights. Whether it be hauling passengers, shooting an ILS, or practicing pinpoint landings in varying conditions, each time I started Flight I would have purpose. Now that everything is 'done', I'm left really wanting more and know more is coming, just not at a pace I would like.I'm waiting on Alaska and new planes (hopefully faster, more complex). I'm waiting on AP, A…
