I had to uninstall FLY2K recently. Before doing that, I copied the aircraft folder to a temp location elsewhere. In it were all the PMDG aircraft plus Rob Young's models.I reinstalled FLY2K, and copied back those aircraft files. On starting FLY, I would get an error message-"subsystem is not registered". Then the program shut down. I repeated the process but the same thing happened. So I tried it plane by plane, to see where the problem lay. Copying Young's planes back enabled FLY to load, but as soon as I moved the PMDG planes, FLY would not load and produce the error message. I even tried to install the 777 from the original downloaded zipfile, but that didn't help eit…

Gents,i am trying to fly as smooth as possible since I dont have that many sicksacks for all my passengers. Most of the time i let the AP get me established on the ILS. At 1000 ft AGL I am in full landing configuration and from that point I like to take over handflying it down to touch down. I disconnet the AP and everything is fine (AT at Vref+5). At 100 ft I disengange autothrust because if I dont the power reduction sets in rather late and I float down way beyond the touchdown zone (this is the only thing i dont like about autoland with the PMDG737). How do you all disengage the autothrust? My problem is that when I have to concentrate on staying on LOC and GS and then…

Great job on the patch guys. You continue to make a great add-on even better!George Stoddard

Hi guys,I mentioned before I was having problems with doing a VNAV decent using the new patch still. Well, I reinstalled and used the larger patch and it works beautifully!I even have DECEL prompts, it works really well. My FPS seem unaffected and haven't noticed any new problems :-)I am using a manually entered FP this time around so I might try with the original FSBuild plan and see how well that goes.Steven.

Just had some quiet perfect rides with the SU1-1 updated 737NG and so far everything works fine. The following question is NOT AN ISSUE ON THE AIRCRAFT ITSELF, but a general one on how to this is been handled in realLife.OK. Here we go:I

Hello.I am very happy after SU 1.1 - Great work, thanks. Now, can anyone tell me if it is possible to map a key or button on my joystick to disconnect the auto throttle? I have tried doing it via the assignments menu in the simulator, but it seems to have no effect on the auto throttle switch in PMDG 737. I want to be able to chuck the A/T out during the last stages of manual land, and it's a bit of a handfull doing it with the mouse! :)Thanks in advance,C130.

Hi!This is slightly OT, but there seem to be some Australians here in the forum...Is there a low fare REAL (not virtual :-) ) airline that offers flights from Australia to Bangkok, preferrably departing from Brisbane? Thanks a lot, this is the last OT disturbance from me ...regards,Joerg

hii've read some posts about this, but none of them could answer my question.i have installed the current service update from PMDG homepage, in order to fix that "VNAV disconnect" problem. worked fine, VNAV is now engaging. but unfortunately, the A/T is reducing speed to zero as i engage VNAV. thrust stays at idle until the plane begins to stall, then it's returning to full power (looks like an alpha protection). after recovering the aircraft, whole thing starts from the beginging... (zero power....full power... etc.)FMC is programmed correctly i guess. speed is set to 250 below FL100. FD, LNAV and AP engaged. MCDU speed window is blank (as it should), so is V/S window.se…

In yesterday's "Latest Files" I observed a checklist for the PMDG 737 submitted by Cuyler Smith (pmdg737-700.zip). It is a slightly modified cut and paste of the checklist I created and uploaded to AVSIM for the DreamFleet 737 (df737_version_10_checklists.zip). If you're unfamiliar with my checklist, it is perhaps the most comprehensive FS checklist around. It represents months of research, full-motion flight sim time, 737 pilot interviews, etc. Although Cuyler Smith never asked for permission to copy my material, he did mention me in the file description. I wasn't pleased, but I wasn't too bothered either. Now today, I see that a Marcel Venema has uploaded another …

Hi guys,I am thinking about doing a simple fuel planner in VB for the NG. Taking the below parameters into account:- planned route distance (according to pre-filed flightplan or manually entered distance)- planned flight level - winds aloft- taxi times (DEP and ARR)- weight and balance- regulated CONT fuel loadsIs there something else I should take into account? Please don't hesitate to point it out.To be able to do this I would need some pretty detailed charts for flight levels, fuel burn, etc. Does anyone have something of the kind to share?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me.

Hi Guy's........I know that this is probably not a PMDG problem, just bear with me a minute. On a flight from Ottawa (CYOW) to Toronto (CYYZ)I was setup with the Simcoe approach for 33R. ATC contacted me with vectors to 33R. I tried to contact APP for clearance to use Simcoe APP, but when I tried to select the procedure from the ATC menu, to my suprize, there were no STARS in the menu options. I know their there, so why were theY omitted in the ATC menu?BTW I still can't get the spoilers to depoy on T/D. the're armed and ready to go, but they wouldn't deploy.Any help with these would be appriciated. THANKS.Dave FisherCYYZ

It's (almost) official.... A thread on the Bluecoat Forum began with this remark a few weeks ago...."On just about all of our 20 odd -800's there have been numerous reports of a distinctive smell during the latter part of the descent, usually starting around 8000' and most often dissipating by about 4000'. It is noticed in the cabin, as well as up front, and has been variously described as a "chemical", "smoky", "oily" (but not jet engine oil) smell."Boeing have reportedly acknowledged the problem and have found it to be related to bleed air duct temperatures peaking at (around) this time during the descent.Cheers.Ian.P.S. Sorry, just couldn't resist that title :(

Hi all.Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with night lighting after the new patch. This was already a bit of a problem before but at least I could still see the panel. Now patrs of the panel vanish when I try to turn the night light on.And one more thing.Crusing at FL350. I want to step climb to FL370. Set MCP to 37000ft and then on the FMC cruise page enter FL370 as new FL. As soon as that was done aircraft starts climbing since LNAV VNAV modes are engaged. While climbing (passing 35600) I change MCP altitude to 41000ft. Don't ask why, I was experimenting. What should happen?RegardsJohn Ka

Hello folksYust got back from an atlantic crossing trip in a small plane (mooney) and just right in time to get the wonderful update for VNAV!But here I am with a few questions:1) When I add VNAV information to a point such as for example:BLM 240/12000AThat should mean that the aircraft should cross BLM with 240 knots and with a altitude of 12000 feet (or above!), isn't it like that? But when I have such points after take off and even if I have a higher altitude selected on the MCP the bird makes a level off at that point? What's wrong here?2) When I'm in a descend and enter the same type of information, the aircraft is descending like a fool just to reach that altitude, …

I noticed this before and after the latest patch....In VNAV climb and prior to TOC, I decide at the last minute to set an FMC altitude restriction at the next waypoint. The predicted altitude for that waypoint is below cruise altitude. My MCP Alt is set at, say, 32,000'. I set the altitude restriction at 30,000'/FL300. When the aircraft passes through 29,300', I hear the Altitude Alert C-Chord Aural and see the Alt Sel Bug sitting on 30,000'. It's very difficult to resync the Alt Sel Bug with MCP Altitude after this.Anyone else experiencing this?Thanks.Cheers.Ian.

I am experiencing problems with the patched SU 1.0 and SU 1.1 of the 737NG. I have learned that this is not a problem with PMDG's product but rather with Windows 98 Se...My question to those that are successfully using it under this OS (any of you out their?) is how do I enable the option to USE LONG FILENAMES in the windows settings? I have spent a large part of the day trying to resolve this and any help would be greatly appreciated.ThanksFrancois

Will the new liveries (AA, etc) that PMDG has been working on be posted soon?I'm thrilled by all the positive response on SU1-1, and can't wait to get home and try it out.-Tim Metzinger

Don't you? -) See attached JPEG :)Hi, i was looking for some info on how to calculate your fuel need, for the -600, i still havent found what im looking for, but i found a nice site about the 737 if anyone is interested, thats where the picture is from - http://www.smartcockpit.com/ Can anybody help me on the fuel calculation subject, i just need a quick way to calculate it, no science needed, thanks :)Thomas Brix

Hi guys,Looking for a little help understanding departure procedures and radials and I thought some of you pros here could help. :) I'll use the BETTE 3 DEP. w/bridge climb out of KJFK via RW 31L as my example. We'll take off and proceed direct to the OGY NDB and then it says to fly a heading of 220 after that. Here's where I get confused. How do I tell the FMC to fly a 220 heading after reaching a waypoint (OGY in this case)? It then says to make the turn east of the CRI R-039 and remain within JFK 4.5 DME. How do I know where I am in correlation to that radial? I can't display that on my ND can I? Are pilots just looking at their paper map? Also, in regards to staying …

Selecting the 737 from menu - hitting OK and everything freeze. Have to hit Cntr + Alt + Del a million times to go back to a black screen. Slooowly the desktop appearsekerDell 2.8 512 ram ATI 9700 pro. fs9 flightsim.

The default cold and dark PMDG flight actually starts with the aircraft exceeding it's maximum weights in FS9, which in turn will cause you some headaches as far as how the plane responds...Dump some fuel or PAX from the default config and you'll find life a lot smoother.Ray
