Not sure what I am doing wrong. I am trying to enter any airport into the Airport REF line (LSK2 I believe), and the FMC is not accepting anything. I first tried KPHL and KLGA, and neither of them were accepted. I would think these two major airports would be in the FMC.. I feel like I missed a step here... (also, any word on the FMC manual's release?) BTW, I am using 0308A data. Thanks!Kevin

There is a pretty balanced review of the 737NG on FlightSim.com.Thanks to the new patch, the product is a lot better than described in the review (I'll have to check out the holds - I think the airplane flew it correctly last time). The verdict was that the product wasn't as polished as expected for one that is at the top of the pay scale for an add-on. I tend to agree with this assessment - I know if I'd bought the product in it's current state (SU1.1) I'd have been a lot happier than when I got it at the 1.0 release. I definitely think the product as it stands is worth the money.-Tim Metzinger

Hi All, Have a question regarding the proper usage of VNAV. I understand that it is not supposed to be switched on before reaching 4000 ft. Why is that, actually? I was flying a short trip from EGLL and taking the BPK5J departure. This SID has a final altitude of 6000 ft, with 3000 feet on one of the first waypoints and 4000 ft on the second to last waypoint before the final 6000 ft. Because of this, I set the MCP alt to 6000. After take off, I engaged the MCP at roughly 500 ft and LNAV close to 1000 ft (the MCP speed was set to 250). Shortly thereafter I engaged VNAV and all went well until I passed the first waypoint with the 3000 ft alt constraint. Just after passing t…

I've tried to find the problem without repeating the same HELP question, that many of you have probably heard over and over, but with no luck. So here we go. Have patch installed. Downloaded the 308 version of NavData. Installed the files (all 6 of them) in the FS9 root directory as follows: FS9/FMCWP/NavData.However, when I try to insert a fix, I get the dreaded 'not in database' message. Sids and Stars work fine. Even went so far as to check the Fix text file to see if what I was trying to insert was there. Also tried to follow the tutorial that Tim Metzinger made available with no luck. Otherwise, I'm having a great time with this aircraft. I'm fully prepared …

Well I finally resolved my SID/STAR problem by removing both AIRAC and the procedures databases and reinstalled them into the same folders and now for some reason they are working. Just completed a KLAX to KSFO flight in really crappy weather and the FMC performed perfectly. I did encounter an "unable next altitude" message but I think I may have caused that. The departure used was the VTU2(RZS) and has a crossing restriction of 13000 at RZS and I applied it to VTU by mistake and the speed/altitude for RZS was 290/29000 which my have been too much for the short distance involved. Other than that it made all the crossing of the BSR arrival right on schedule... This NG…

I just re-installed the original package and then the 15mb update SP1-1. The time date stamp I have on modified section of the airfile within the 737-700 folder says Aug 1, 2003 at 6:33PM. Is this correct? I thought the service pack came out later than this?

Hi All,Having just returned to UK from Phoenix yesterday (and truly amazed at how good the default KPHX scenery in FS9 is!)I tried to use the FMS to fly Tucson to Phoenix. Whatever I do I keep getting a message saying that the airport is not in the database. I've done all the right things with loading the navdata in the correct directory etc - I'm thinking that I may be missing a file or just missing a trick? I've used FS since its beginning but have only recently started to use it in depth and trying to use all the nav features. Any help would be very much appreciated.Kevin:-newbie

First time I have used FS2004 and the PMDG 737. Only trouble I am having is the plane bouncing continously up and down like it is going through turbulence. Even in clear air with no weather involved. Anybody have this experience and is there a fix?

  17. I first installed the PMDG bird onto FS2002, where it created a folder in Modules with a long alpha-numerical string (as I recall). Later I installed the NG onto FS2004, and noted that I did not need to register the new installation. Now I wish to uninstall FS2002. Is there anything I need to do to keep the NG running in FS2004?Thanks- sorry if this sounds confusing :)Bruce.

What is the procedure with the NG for a GA on missed approach?I performed one manually the other night, however I didn't get alt. callouts on my next final, nor could I get the MCP to engage in any mode (seemed to be "stuck" in APP, which I had used until about 2000', when I went to manual on the first approach). Thanks!

I was using the older tutorial to get use to the systems and FMC, and I aligned myself up for a landing, following every part of the tutorial... but the airplane went in far right of the glideslope. It was going to land right inside the terminal! Both nav radios had the correct freq., I selected "app" and it caught the glideslope but never corrected itself and was going too far to the right. Help!

Is it possible to remove the above message by editing a MSFS file? Sometimes it prevents me seeing the "MZALFOTRI" selections. I read somewhere recently (here?) that you could remove these kinds of messages.Thanks!Cheers.Ian.
