Noticed on page 34 of the PMDG Flight Crew Training Manual that the pilots are supposed to initiate the flare at 15 feet. Is it possible for real world pilots to react fast enough at this height? Descending at, say, 750fpm, this would give them a window of 1.2 seconds to control the flare. The A/P, on the other hand, starts the flare process at 50'... with the throttle beginning to retard at about half that height. Is this a misprint? Basically, if you sneezed at 15 feet, the moment you had opened your eyes, you would already have hit the ground :-lolThanks.Cheers.Ian.

Hi Someone in a domestic forum posted to have a complete empty RTE Page in the FMC after each Takeoff. Is this a known issue. I could not reproduce it on my PMDG737. Any Ideas whats wrong there?edit: a quick search did not bring up anything

hi all, just a quick question, once i reach the top of descent, the plane starts descending automatically as should be, but it never reduces speed, or i never hear the engine whirl back and N1 back to idle just before the descent, this causes me to use too much speed brake on descent, any reason why, am i doing something incorrect?

As previously discussed, the APU will adjust its bleed air output to compensate for bleed demands... up to a point. With two packs in Auto, the Bleed Duct pressure sits at about 20psi. However, when you select them to HI (on the ground, with APU providing pressure), the APU increases the duct pressure to about 26 psi. It seemed to stay at that pressure irrespective of how many packs were in HI.http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/...soValveOpen.jpgNote the DUAL BLEED light indication, even though the engines are switched off.The real aircraft has a MAINT selection on the FMC CDU which allows you to look at what signals are going to the APU to influence its behaviour. …

current ATISYBBN 150900Z 26016KT CAVOK 20/M03 Q1006 RMK RF00.0/000.0 NOSIG the active was 19 into Brisbane, i noticed that on approach and final, the plane was abit off the runway centreline as we came into land, i found that odd, because on every landing i have done so far the plane has been lining up right in the middle of the runway...but then after a while i thought about it and it occured to me, (as you can see from the ATIS above) that the winds were 260 @ 16, now 16kts is quite windy in Brisbane, and 260 is from the west, so there was a considerable cross wind.So my question to you is, was the 737 purposely approachin the runway abit off towards the west, to counte…

Hi, guys.Had the chance to have a good look 'round an -800 last night and took a photo of the PFD with the IRS's switched off. Not my own airline by the way.http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/PFDIRUOFF.jpgI can see some obvious differences:1. Airspeed begins at 45kts and the tape goes down to 30kts2. Rad Alt at minus 4 feet on ground3. Negative altitudes displayed in reverse order to positive altitudes.4. DH Bug reset to green (Part of the DH logic resets colour on touchdown). DH readout green also. Are these airline or 737 series options?Thanks.Cheers.Ian.

I have downloaded and installed the sids and stars file from the PMDG website. I noticed that there is no sids and stars included for CYYZ. Does anyone have them? If so can I impose to have them emailed to me. ThanksBruce HUNTER

Although the sounds of the PMDG 737 are marked as very high quality, I do miss the traditional jet engine 'whine' and wind noise while flying. Is there any possible way to add them myself, or any chance of updating this sounds in the patch ?

Hey guys!!Just a procedural question... when is the appropriate time to disconnect the A/P and A/T during an Autoland approach?? I seem to recall reading tutorials with different procedure. One procedure called for disengaging the A/P via the engagement bar on the MCP just prior to touchdown (in flare). Another mentioned disconnecting the A/P and A/T after roll-out and stowing of the thrust reversers. Anybody know how it's actually done??Thanks!!Flightsim Phil

This comming weekend, Sept 19, 20, and 21, I am sponsoring an on-line flight simulating 3 days in the life of Captain William Ball. These flights are actually replicating his road trips in the 757. Many of us are flying 767s and I want to be sure all of the devoted PMDG 737NG drivers know they are welcome to join in and put your 737NGs to a fun and interesting challenge.Full details can be found here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho..._id=20760&page=

I have a few questions about editing the SID's:-In none of the files that I downloaded they used "INTERCEPT RADIAL", now, I tried to do that (it's written in the SID/STAR editing guide .pdf file) but I am doing something wrong: I wrote for example:SID RW24.LEKKO RNW 24 HDG 240 UNTIL 4.3 FROM NAVAID SPL HDG 154 INTERCEPT RADIAL 180 FROM NAVAID SPL NAVAID LEKKO 6000 INTERCEPT RADIAL 208 FROM NAVAID PAM NAVAID WOODY 19000 NAVAID NIK 20000what is wrong? in the .pdf there is stated it must be in the form of "hdg INTERCEPT RADIAL NB tofrom optaltfixentry " --> How do I that? what is optaltfixentry?-And second, how do I put in "at or above" or "at or below"?

Hi.I've just reformated my harddisk, and installed everything all over.I installed the PMDG base pack, restarted the PC, installed SU1.1, restarted and cranked up. Started the aircraft and programmed the FMC like normal. Now, when in VNAV mode, when I get close to the step altitude set by ATC, the aircraft suddenly start to skyrocket to the ground. I have to disengage the AP and level of manually to recover.VNAV works ok when I approach the final cruise altitude (it levels of smoothly), so it only happens when approaching step altitudes.I used the removal tool to uninstall, and installed again, but same problem. I checked the correct options for FS9 when I installed both. …

I did a fresh install of the original files and then loaded the patch. Loaded the 700 w/VC (using FS2002) and was setting up to use 2 monitors. So I undocked the FMC and moved it to monitor 2. Went to VC view and found VC gauges were not responding. Tried the same with the throttle quandrant and the same problem came up. Then re-docked and all VC gauges were working properly.I tried the same with the 600 and got the same results. It doesn't appear to matter which aircraft you use in VC. I did not experiment with the VC w/Cabin views though. It also does not appear to matter if you are undocking to the same monitor or a 2nd monitor. The problem exists if you are u…

I am totally in love with this aircraft. Congratulations PMDG!When landing in my home town (Oporto - LPPR) I find that the most frequently active runway is 35. This runway does not have (yet) a ILS system. So I wonder if my final approach procedure is correct. Can any of you more experienced sim pilots explain how such an approach should be flown? I mean, from 12 miles out, 3000 ft (over the IAF), how should one set the AP and A/T, when should one disengage the AP and/or A/T?I've read the (great) tutorials, but they assume an ILS approach, and I think I have already mastered that one. Thanks for your feedback.Best regards,Sergio SilvaPortugal

I have just started to take a closer look at the sid/stars for LEAL as theres a Spanish Vatsim event on the 20th.The ALT NDB is north of the runway and the ALT VOR is just south of the runway. All the sid radials relate to the ALT VOR, yet the FMC uses the NDB for NAVAID ALT.Is there a way to define in the SID, to use the VOR rather than the NDB, other than creating a FIX for the VOR from the NDB?Simon

Well well well,I've read MANY posts on this and MSFS forums where this topic have been VERY discussed, and I can only get to one conclusion."PMDG NG is the MOST framerate eater/killer of all the times."You can compare it to any add-on, with FMC and complex panel logic. I really dont get this, I have a fast machine and get ONLY / POOR 20 fps on cruise flight and 15 fps on approach. With other add-ons I get about 30 / 40!!! And sorry you out there happy with 15 fps, I think these fps really kills the fell of flying these bird.I'm posting these cause I think PMDG should work more on this issue, I cant find any reasonable answers to the fps killing problem. Its something like …

I have been trying to create some sids for YBBN in Australia The FMC seems to have problems with the HDG xx UNTIL command and half the time will not track the HDG commanded but picks a heading of its own, often turning left when the heading command would mean a right turn (or vice versa). The error seems to occur with both the HDG xx UNTIL RADIAL and HDG xx UNTIL INTERCEPT. Example 1 - ignores the heading command but turns in the right direction Sid IBUNA1 for YBBN RW01 reads - track 016, after passing 600ft and BN vor turn right and track 030, at 3 dme BN turn right and track 180, crossing BN R-090 turn right and track 300, intercept and track BN R-286 to IBUNA. SID cre…

Hi all,This is my situation, I've reinstalled the NG in FS2002 and FS9, in FS2002 I'm getting high teens low twenties with it, and 25 locked at 25 for the outside view or side views. Now in FS9 I'm getting a constant 13 in the cockpit, but 22 or so in the outside and side views. Why such a difference, when the outside fps are similiar to 2k2? Something not configured correctly? In FS9 it is totally unflyable, but in 2k2 it's a dream. Also, changing my AA settings had no effect on the cockpit fps in FS9, while it did severely impact the other fps for the outside and side views.:-hmmm

Captains,I've successfully flown the tutorial with the 0309 data, but some surgery was required on the KSTL SID/STAR file. I've asked for permission to upload the fixed file, but in the meantime, here's how you can duplicate my fix.First, you need the 0309 NavData from Richard Stefan's site at www.navdata.at. Be sure you have update #2, as he (gracefully) corrected some errors in the earlier version.Next, you need the 0309 SID/STARS from the PMDG website, in the information center. The problem with these files is that neither of them nor FS9 match reality. KSTL has three runways:12L/30R12R/30L02/24FS9 adds 13/31 and 17/35.Richards data has 13/31, but not 17/35.The SID/S…

I am having some problems here. Every time I turn on the AP, the plane just goes up, and it wont obey the vs. or vnav, and when I set an altitude for it to hold when it reaches it, it wont, it'll just keep on goin up and eventually stalling. I have tryed every thing that I can think of. I have all the updates installed as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
