Hi friends, need help on flying a STAR. I never followed that procedure and i have always been vectored to LOC/GS by approach.Today i'd like to try a new skill...1) how do i select a STAR in FSBuild/FSNavigator if i do not know which Rwy tower will me clear for? I usually fly using Radar Contact and usually i am given a landing prevision as soon as i contact approach.2) how do i enter that STAR in 737NC FMG after importing FSBuild flightplan? Thanks in advance for helpingLuigi ;-)

Hi everybody!I am a new user of the PMDG 737 and really enthusiastic about the model and the cockpit displays. Great work there! What causes many problems for me during flying is the FMC. Though I installed the SID/STAR database and the navdatabase and I am able to select SIDs for every desired airport I am not able to select any STAR. The Approach/STAR page will just be empty on every airport.Furthermore, the FMC calculates crossing levels for some of the waypoints during climb, which do not correspond to the normal climb profile, and therefore VNAV disconnects after some time because it is not able to reach these levels (already climbed above it). In connection with thi…

Hello!First I want to say, that I am new in this forum.Yesterday I posted a message thanking the guys from PMDG for their support and for the way, how they care about us customers.Somehow, my message did not appear in the forum.Anyway, I made a mistake in that message, because I thought that Randy Smith was a member of PMDG. Please be patient...I'm a newbie.O.K., here's my proposal:As in FS9 the jetways are so high, that you cannot reach them even from a 747, I would suggest, that you put an option to the aircraft's stairs in order to extract them upwards...:-lol RegardsThomas

Heo!I must say that I am very sad now I read this post.I think that the best side of this forum are especially people that make it alive and interesting to read. I would especially like to expose Ian and Randy. With their knowledge and with an access to it they have found answers to many questions, we simmers have had, and in case this forum closes the whole 737TNG community would lost two great simmers who are very helpful. There are also other simmers who I find helpful and I would like to thank to but I think that Randy's and Ian's role is the most visible. Therefore I think you should find a way to ban those people who are not helpful and more important, do not behave …

It seems PMDG only notices a change in radio frequency after clicking the Switch (one that switches standby and active freq) button.I would want to be able to change frequency using FSNavigator comm panel.Right now I can change the frequency, but then the radio panel seems to get stuck, and I cannot click the Switch button or modify it.Anyone else experienced the problem?

Gents, I went through Tim's excellent tutorial today. And I mangaged to scare the hell out of the passengers over Tennessee. Approaching 40 nm to the hold, both my engines failed. I don't know why and as I am still getting familiar with the bird, I can't give much info except... I am pretty sure I followed all Tim's instructions to this point. One thing I did notice was the center fuel tanks were dry at this point, although I don't know if they went dry well before this point or not. All my fuel pumps were on. Could it be I have to turn off the center fuel pumps once it is empty? Looking for any guesses as to why this would happen so I can execute it p…

Hello there folks,Ok, I'm really thinking in upgrading my system to run PMDG with more FPS and smooth. As I have noticed many of you have done such a thing, what's the best item to upgrade right now?I have:- AMD XP 1.8- Asus A7V8X-X- GF4 TI 4200- 512BM DDR (300 mhz ???)You think it should be best to spend on more 512 DDR or on CPU upgrade for lets say, about 2.4 or 2.6 GHz?:)O know the plane really likes RAM memory, but I dont know if its the case of increasing RAM or give the CPU a upgrade for the complex processing. :-/Thanks for any help! :)Eduardo

Hello Folks, I wonder why I cannot put 100% fuel in either left or right fuel tanks? Silly question, it seems, but I am sincere here. After running the APU for a half hour or so I decided to replenish the fuel in the tanks, that is, top off the left tank to 100%. To my amazement I found that if I entered 100% a pop-up window would state "Enter a number between 0-8629. Thus I entered 8629, in the weight column, and AGAIN the pop-up window with the same message. I therefore entered 99.9% for capacity, equivalent to 8620 lbs, and this was readily accepted. You will get the same response if you play with the right tank also. My question: Why is 8629 lbs I…

Captains,By now lots of you have had frustration with various versions of the NavData, and SID/STARS databases. As far as I can tell, we have some serious problems (at least with FS9/FS2004):First, the airports in FS9 are NOT all correct - many of them have runways that do not exist in real life. KSTL is one example.Second, the data used to create Richard's 0309 NavData and the SID/STARs is obviously not the same, causing discrepancies and FMC errors. It seems that in most cases the SID/STAR data matches FS9, and the NavData does not.As I've said elsewhere - I don't know what the "right" solution is, but I have some thoughts:First, regardless of whether they match FS9 or re…

Would it be possible to have a fixed thread for solely 'heads up' items relating to new/improved sid/stars written by users, in the absence of a main upload area? As we know there are many major airports missing from the main sid/stars download. I have just finished EGSS and have attached approaches to the stars.Other airports I have done are EGCC, EGKK, LEMG, LEAL and LEPA.They are available here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/simon.butler2...usefulfiles.htmSimon

Hey guys,I have been directed to this site where development of a new 737 mcp is nearing completion, apparently it will be "slightly" cheaper than the aerosoft 747 mcp - see what you think!antwww.cpflight.com

Here's a situation where the TOD was coincidentally located at a waypoint, and the aircraft failed to descend even though it was in VNAV mode and the MCP altitude had been reset to a lower altitude.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/37494.jpgTake a look at the PROG page - the distance to the TOD stopped at 0.7 NM even though we were now flying away from it. This must have been the distance at closest approach.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/37495.jpgI assume this happened because the aircraft turned just before reaching the waypoint and thus never got closer than 0.7 NM to the TOD. Presumeably there is a threshold which is less than this.Anyway, PMDG, I'm letting you k…

Can't believe how many Stab Trim cutout/override switches there are in the cockpit of the 737NG! There is a cutout switch for stopping Autopilot Trim, a cutout switch for stopping ordinary trim, there is a cutout switch under each control column to stop the aircraft trimming (if you push the column in the opposite direction to which the stabilizer is running)... and, finally, a switch on the centre console (pedestal) to override the switches under the control columns *:-* http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/...rrideSwitch.jpgThe Override switch is shown to the right of the large rotary Rudder Trim knob.Something tells me they're not leaving anything to chance :(Chee…

Someone was asking a while back where the TOGA switches were on the real aircraft. Here's a shot of some Classic Thrust Levers (not-unlike NG throttles)http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/TOGA&ATDisc.jpgThe black pushbutton on the end of the white knob (L/H engine thrust lever knob) is an Autothrottle disconnect switch (there's another on the other lever). The black button just forward of the knob, however, is a TOGA switch. There is also another one in front of the R/H engine thrust lever.Cheers.Ian.

Hi Guys..I don't mean to beat this topic into the ground but, I'm still getting poor framerates. When I use comparible add-ons I'm getting 17-22fps during flight. With the 737NG and the no VC model, I'm lucky to 13fps in the same situation. That's with everything at 50%. Am I being too optimistic to expect decent framerates. Like I said I get good fps with all the other payware so I know my system can handle it.What is everybody else getting?Dave FisherCYYZ

The completely cold and dark startup is getting a lot of attention...but, how often do pilots start from a C&D situation in real life? An aircraft isn't C&D after it has just been 'turned around' is it? For how long can they be kept 'warm', stringing flights together, with different crews perhaps, etc. What's common practice in this regard? Best,Martijn

Hi everybody,First off I would just like to say thank you to PMDG for yet again a excellent add on for the sim world!!The 737NG is excellent, however I really have a annoying problem and I would like some help.Whem I go into fs2004 and get into my NG and fire her up and start programming the fmc when I finish putting in the airports and waypoint I find that the airports are about 40 miles to the north of me in fs2004. I have the problem both with airac 0308 and 0309 if this helps?I get this problem everywhere from what I can tell from uk europe to USA.I have inc a screenshot)hopefully :-xxrotflmao from luton eggw uk where i am at the ramp, and the fmc where the fmc shows …

I was playing with the FMC Route pages on an -800 last night and noticed the following variations between PMDG and the real aircraft.http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/ICAOEntry.jpgWhen an entry for only the ORIGIN and DEST airports were made, the airports appeared as blue circles on the MAP page with no green line inbetween them. When a single waypoint is entered, a dashed blue line appeared between only the DEST and waypoint (prior to ACTIVATION and EXECution). As per previous messages, prior to the entry of ICAO codes, the Route page showed dashes next to the ORIGIN airport and boxes next to the DEST airport. Entry of a DEST airport generated "ORGN" in the Origin…

I am wondering, does the FMC at some point prior to landing tunes in the ILS from the pref init page? or I need to do it manually?
