heres one thing i don't wish for in real life piloting.. but... for some reason after i "select" a failire, and time it for, say.. 10 seconds from now (i.e. left fire detection loop, apu fire, fctl issue).. i return to the simulator, and wait.. and.. nothing happens. then i go back to the menu, and the line reads "allready failed" (well, something like that).. but nothing hapaned in the sim.i'm runing fs9 w/ win xp. .. your latest patch. (the revamped v1). thanks for the help in advance.. and sorry for the HUGE amount of dots.. in this msg.. danny. :)p.s. -- sorry for spelling errors, 2 lazy to spell-check.

Hello Pilots,Can someone tell me what causes my aircraft to picth-up over 20+ degwhen the autopilot is selected (around 1000 ft)On take off the aircraft is trimmed, I take-off with a 15 deg nose up pitch - looking good reaching 1000 ft, HDG is selected on the MCP, and then the AP is turned on around 1000 ft and there goes my smooth climb, the pitch goes to around 20+ unless I select LNAV and VNAV.Thanks for any help or hints you can provide!Paul Cartier

dear PMDG-team,i postet this question already a while ago, but i'm now pretty sure that i miss the night lightning on my 737.for some reason it doesn't show at night, although i can view the BMP file itself in the texture folder. there i can see the light reflections of the landing lights on the fuselage as well as illuminated passenger windows... but i can't see them in my FS2K2.i upload a screenshot, standing at the gate at EDDS. you can see all lights (taxi, landing, position, wing etc.) are switched on, but the fuselage is dark. also i don't see the logo lightened.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/38718.jpgthis is a 737-700 in Hamburg International livery. After digging a bit more into Bulfers FMC Guide I noticed the "partial throttle - constant descent" technique with FMC assistance. Just as a quick summary, you would e.g. be at FL350 and would have to descend to a down route restriction at Waypoint XXX/10000 ft. For the descent it seems popular to make use of the below mentioned "angle calculator", finally leading to a more passenger convenient descent than using VNAV.Anyway, one would put the waypoint with restriction at LSK 3R in the descent page. At LSK 4R one would then see FPA, V/B (Vertical Bearing) and V/S from the actual position to that enroute waypoint. Pilots wait until a V/B of 3.0 is reached and then adjust t…

I've managed to borrow a 172 on Friday and will be flying into Reading for the AVSIM conference - I look forward to seeing some of you there.Depending on time and weather constraints, I may be able to offer a ride to a person or two. I'd prefer to give the rides to first-timers who've never been up in a little airplane before. If you'll be there, please drop me a private mail message.

Hi there. If you're interested in having your 737NG turn more accurately while taxiing (I found it difficult to make turns without overshooting, or putting the main wheels on the grass), then there is a simple change that can be made to the aircraft.cfg which seems to work.It just means changing the nosewheel "steer angle" degrees. The degrees themselves come from the 737NG real-life manual. In the default PMDG .cfg, the nosewheel steering angle is set at a maximum angle of 40 degrees, while the real 737 has a maximum angle of 78 degrees, with 75 degrees being the effective turn.In the .cfg, go to the contact points section, and change the following. The 7th value of poin…

Hi All,I have been getting used to the 737 and am still learning all the ins and outs of the FMC. In cruise, using Radar Contact, the controllers issue crossing restrictions, usually 40 NM from the last waypoint. I have attempted to program the FMC using the same technique as shown in Mr. Metzinger's tutorial, defining a waypoint in reference to another waypoint, with additional speed and altitude info, but can't seem to get the aircraft to meet the crossing restriction. Can anyone please help with the proper keystrokes, etc., for programming a crossing restriction? The RC contollers keep busting my chops!!!Thanks in Advance,Brad StreeterKKLS

On modern jets, because of safety regulations, there is only one thing a pilot can do to shut down an engine... That is, stop pouring fuel into the engine. You can't stop an engine by switching electric power off. In fact, you actually need electric power to shut down an engine.Normally, the power to do this comes from the Hot Battery Bus (28Vdc power is always on this bus, either from the main elec busses or directly from the Battery, but you don't have to have the Battery Switch ON to get power to this bus). By putting the fuel lever to CUTOFF or pulling the Fire Handle, you are activating an electric circuit to shut the engine fuel supply valves. Unfortunately, there w…

Hi all!I am having a sound card problem with my 737. When i use the sound card on my mother board i have no problems but when i enable my sound blaster live card and use that for the sound, the plane makes these horrible..."fuzzy static" noises. (Sorry, but really don't know of any other way of describing it). This noise happens for a while, then stops for a while and the engine sounds are normal and then starts up again...etc etc. Are there any known issues with SoundBlaster Live cards and the PMDG 737? I really want to use this card to take some pressure off my CPU. I am going to un-install the drivers, pull the card out and start all over again but i thought i would as…

Hi everyoneI just got a couple of questions about the new 737 packs when they come out. Whenever I hear someone talking about a feature that is not implemented in the 737-700 package someone says that it will be implemented when the 737 800 comes out. But what about the BBJ package? What features wont you be doing in the 800/900 package so that you can still make some new ones in the BBJ package? My other question is, once the 800/900 package is released with the IRS system and all the new FMC features, will we be able to still fly the 737 600/700 package with these new features, or will we have to keep the current panel and only use the IRS on the 800/900? Will we have t…

Is there a formula or something that one uses to calculate the cruise level for a flight? For instance, I am sure that the cruise altitude is not the same for a flight 200-300 miles versus one which is 300-700 and so on. ThanksMike MarzettKDFW

I'm trying to cruise at altitudes greater than FL350 and cannot do so. I just cannot climb above this altitude no matter what I try, even at lighter weights than 110k. Is there a an OPT CRZ FL determined by the FMC as it is in other Boeings or is the 737 FMC really that cut down as compared to the -800 and other Boeings?Right now my Wife is on a SWA 737-700 @ FL390 about to descend into Tampa (even though flying West from KPVD...)Tim

Hi all!Just a quick question. I was practising a few ILS landings into Brisbane the other day using the MCP. I had it all nice and lined up on APP, with CMD A and B set. The plane was locked on and following the glideslope down for an autolanding when all of a sudden the nose started pointing up, cmd B went out and i ended up flying right past the runway. What's the go there? It did this everytime. I am sure i am doing something wrong with my ILS landing as i am only new to autolandings and am not sure if i have got it all set right. I have the ILS frequencys in both NAV 1 and 2 radios by the way. Did it have something to do with my speed? as i was controlling that myself…

I was wondering what the proper procedure is for changing altitude when the vnav/lnav are engaged? I keep running into goofy problems with the vnav disengaging-- then not wanting to reengage (fmc gives a check alt in mpc message). Also, lets say I enter a route from tucson to san diego. The legs page lists each waypoint/nav aid along with speed and an altitude. Is that the minimum altitude you are supposed to cross that point at, or is that the projected altitude you will be at when you descend? ...okay, almost done with the questions... Lastly, whats the proper procedure for setting the altitude for landing? If I am at 30,000 and need to get to 2000 for an ils app…

Hmmm... Only a few minutes past 7pm and already I feel sleepy.http://members.ozemail.com.au/~b744er/737/CabinPressure.jpgIs the Cabin Altitude Alarm modelled in PMDG? If so, at what altitude is it triggered?(Greater than 10000'?)In this config, if I switch off the packs, the Outflow Valve closes by itself. Is this correct? I couldn't find a connection between the packs and the outflow valve in my manuals.Thanks.Cheers.Ian. P.S. What does "MAIN" mean?

Hello fellow aviators -I installed the Airac in the appropriate directory, but I believe that is just for SIDS/STARS? I am unable to enter any airport into the FMC. On the initial page, the FMC displays "No NavData" ?What am I doing wrong? thanks!Kevin
