Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

  1. Started by Littleferrhis,

Ok so I am guessing this is a windows 10 problem, but I am not exactly sure how to fix it, because it seems related to another problem. So I just got a new system today, which I put windows 10 on as it was better than 8.1 in my personal opinion, and after installing fsx, I decided to install my saitek pro flight yoke, rudder pedals, and throttle quadrant. At first the yoke seemed to work ok with the drivers running well and the functionality reaching what it normally would on my old windows 7 computer. However after about an hour of having it plugged in the usb, the yoke, rudder system which was plugged in and the quadrant crashed simoultaniously. I checked some other foru…

  2. Basically what it says in the title. I have a Saitek Radio Panel and SPAD. Up until now it's worked flawlessly. The last two times I've flown the PMDG 777, however, when I try to use Com 2, it doesn't work. Specifically, I can change the standby number with no problem, and can see the change is being recognized because the Com2 in the cockpit changes as well. But when I hit Act/Stby to make the standby number active, it resets 'standby' to whatever number I happened to already have active at the time. Com 2 is the only button this happens with; every other button (Com 1, Nav 1/2 etc) all work flawlessly. It has always worked flawlessly with the PMDG 777 as well. Since…

  3. Got a new Saitek flight yoke pro and have found something that I did not see or at least can't remember seeing with my CH yoke. The ailerons don't seem to center after a tun and the yoke is return to center position. The yoke calibrates out fine and a visual view shows the control surface returning to center, but the only way for the aircraft to stop turning is to turn the yoke the other direction until the turn stops. If this is normal then fine, if not does anyone have a fix?

  4. Started by airernie,

These have been out for awhile, but I "rediscovered" them today. Saitek makes a plugin which can be used with their panels in MS:FSX, SE:FSX, P3D v2.x and XPlane. They "mostly" replace SPAD and appear to work with the gauges. However, I only have the switch, dual radio and multi panels and couldn't test them. The FSX version automatically installed into EXE.DLL. I said "mostly" because there is no customization, so they are probably not as useful for some 3rd party aircraft. I couldn't find any documentation, but there is a brief mention in the instruments panel manual on Saitek's site. Still, if you're having trouble with SPAD they might be wort…

  5. I bought a Saitek pro yoke and pedals. Was looking forward for it to arrive. A week later and it's here :-) However, I'm now doubting this buy. A minor problem is that the start stop button doesn't do anything. Meaning that my display doesn't work as a stopwatch. The biggest issue I have is the steering itself. When I steer to the right, i can just let the yoke go back to center but I still keep banking right. If I want to level off, I need to steer left until I'm straight and then move the yoke back to the center. is this how this Yoke works, because in that case I'm better of with my Joystick. I'm currently programming with LINDA...I might missed something :…

  6. Hi is there any joystick that could be used for X-Plane as well also for Project Cars etc.? Thanks PS: Maybe the upcoming SteamVR could do?

  7. Hi. I purchased a cockpit Phd MCP (Ultra I believe) from a fellow in Az. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to program this thing as I can't get it to run with sioc or fuipc. It came with zero documentation and no software so I am running blind on this. I checked the manufacturer and it looks like they have stopped selling these. I have put in a support request but no answer so far. Is there anyone out there who could help me out, either with a copy of the software or help programming the bugger. Thanks guys.

Hello, I'm thinking of taking my sim to the next level. After using a Logitech 3D pro joystick for the past year it's time to step it up and get a proper yoke/throttle/rudder pedals. From research it seems the saitek pro flight package is the most reasonable priced and fairly good quality. I'm using p3d v3 on Windows 10. I see that none of the sites list these devices as Windows 10 compatible. Can anyone confirm these devices work okay on Windows 10? Regards Joe

Hi Avsimmers! I am considering doing an extension for my x55 stick, and I was thinking that it would be really cool if I could get an extra ten-pin round connector and stick that on the extension bit to make the whole setup completely modular. Does anyone here know how to get the appropriate connector or else a cheep used x55? Has anyone ever attempted this before? Thanks folks!

  10. Hi fans of Windows 10! Has anyone managed to install drivers for said Joystick on windows 10? It seems there are no official drivers available but maybe there is a workaround... Thanks

  11. New revelation. Last night I did some "experimental" flying. I had noted that with the new Windows 10 system I recently built my Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Yoke and Pro Flight Pedals now work fine when connected to an external powered USB 3.0 hub. With my previous Windows 7 system and with a separate Windows 7 laptop, the same Saitek controls would not work reliably if connect to any USB 3.0 port. That issue had also been reported by a number of other users. So having seen the difference I decided to again try plugging my Saitek Multipanel directly into a port on the USB hub on the back side of the yoke. Another connection that would just not work before with either my…

  13. I have had my 2 Saitek Throttle Quadrants for several years and until recently had them clamped to the desk with the majority of the unit above desktop height like this (not my picture)... The trouble with this arrangement it makes using the mouse with my right hand difficult as the units block access. I then tried changing them to this arrangement (again, not my picture and I have 2 quadrants) with most of the unit at desk height... But the problem with this arrangement is the awkwardness of moving all four levers. The unit is not far enough forward and I find I have to twist my wrist to control all four levers. Does anyone else have this problem a…

  14. Here's what I'd like to know how it can possibly be done. I have a Saitek Yoke, throttle, and pedals. I have been using Saitek's SST software for a year now but I just bought a Saitek X52 Pro I'd also like to use and the SST's don't get along. Saitek even duplicated it, the X52 Pro software locks out my yoke switches, makes them not function. So I bought a registered copy of FSUIPC yesterday. I'd like to start with the yoke, throttle. and pedals. I haven't even begun setting them up yet as I have to read the manual and assign as I go. I have FSX Gold and Win 7 64. A lot of A2A planes and the NGX. What I really need to know is if there's a way to program the Mode…

  15. Started by warbirds,

I use an X box controller for P3D and FSX (purist can now leave the room). Sure I have the yoke, pedals and throttles but sometimes you are in a hurry or just want to get in the air. Also I find with airliners there is not much real flying. I have the Xbox controller set up perfectly with triggers for rudder and dual front buttons for right and left brake and d pad for trims. My buddy even bought one after flying with mine for awhile. Now I have acquired a Steam controller that is similar to the Xbox controller but with more buttons and two strange circular pads instead of joysticks. The setup is odd because you must have a Steam game to use it. It seems that it …

Hi, I am finding that when I bring aircraft to a complete stop with the brakes at zero throttle (F1), the aircraft then starts to creep forward when the brake on the joy stick is release in FSX. I use a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro joystick with FSX. Are there any settings I could check? Ray

  17. Started by Jack_Sawyer,

I was thinking of adding to my Saitek Yoke, quadrant, and pedals the Pro Flight Switch Panel PZ55 and using the Throttle prop & mixture panel in place of the quadrant. My question is will I need to program them through FSUIPC because I really don't like FSUIPC. I tried it and it's way too complicated for me. Will I need SPAD? Is SPAD only meant to interface with FSUIPC? Can I run these panels with the SST software or just FSX buttons settings? Please answer as I'm a total newbie to all this. Thanks.

  18. Hi, My family has one desktop that's shared primarily between me and my Mom. I built the desktop to handle modern gaming and simming, but since I also have a laptop which I can use for email, websurfing, and light gaming, I let my Mom use the desktop most of the time. The problem is this: when I want to fly a sim on the desktop (my laptop can't handle it), I have to pull out the keyboard tray, lock it into place, pull out my HOTAS, hook it up, and when I get into the sim, I have to make sure that hooking up my HOTAS again hasn't re-routed the HOTAS controls inside the sim. This may not seem like a lot of trouble, but I rarely fly a sim for more than an hour because I do…

  19. Hello! I need a controller for FSX and stuff to fly the things I always and usually only fly (Boeings and Cessnas)... Please tell me what I should get for the controller. As for addons, I already know I want --- FTX ORBX Global REX 4 texture Direct Active Sky Next Thats 179 dollars right there....If I get the X55 Hotas, I wont have a problem with getting that and those 3 addons, Or, I can get Saitek pro flight yoke + throttle (the one it comes with) Saitek Pro flight Rudder Pedals FTX REX 4 ASN That will cost around 450$ I have 290, But in like One month I will have ATLEAST 390...EITHER way I have to wait til the end of this month to get anyth…

  20. Hello. This has probably already been answered. But In any case I would appreciate guidance with this: I use Saitek pro yoke + engine control (throttle, propeller pitch, and mixture) plus Saitek pedals, and I have all the controls running through the standard FSX controls. I want to start migrating my FSX planes one at a time from standard FSX controls to FSUIPC controls that can be specific to each plane model. My problem is that when I use the FSUIPC screens to set the FSUIPC controls, (after I disable all of the FSX controls), I don't know how many and what controls do I need to assign. There seem to be so many and I don't know how to ensure I don't leave somet…

I am planning on attempting to build my own 747-400 overhead panel. I have watched some videos and seen that it would be fairly easy to get simple things like the apu to work. I was wondering how difficult it would be to assign switches to things like the IRS's and packs on the PMDG 747. Can I get it so that every button matches up with what is on the PMDG overhead panel, and working properly? Thanks.

P3Dv3 recognizes my CH Eclipse Yoke but when I installed the latest CH Products software manager I lost my connectivity with the sim? P3Dv3 did not recognize the yoke in the pull down menu and so I uninstalled the software and got my yoke to work with P3Dv3 again simply plug and play style. The only thing is I have no way to calibrate the yoke. Is there any way to calibrate this yoke without the CH products software manager program?

Hi Folks, Does anyone have any experience of using the SimCAT5 modules? Read a review of them a few months (been moving - probably last year) about them and they look good for what I want to do (build a C-172 panel using rear projection - get rid of the parallax (sp?) error but what about turning the knobs? Think the SimCAT5 might be the answer. There doesn't seem to be much information about them (e.g., experiences of using them) out there - RC Simulations sell them, but their website doesn't seem to have much background info, and there doesn't appear to be much on the Web after their launch in 2011 or so. Many thanks for your thoughts, Kindest Regards,…

Hello good folk, Once again my Saitek yoke throttle levers have spiked yet again and, despite dismantling the pots, I'm no further forward in resolving the problem. The additional throttle quadrant next to it is fine ( a more recent addition last year). Flightstore have no throttle quadrants in stock until November and so I'm wondering if a CH throttle set would work in combination with the existing yoke and pedals. Just wondered if anyone uses this combination of controllers. Any thoughts most welcome. Regards, Richard. p.s. The spiking occured during a descent in a Majestic Q400. Power all over the place! Scary! :Raised Eyebrow:

Hello all, following forum's advice I recently got a CH Yoke to substitute my previous Saitek. Although I feel the Saitek looked much better, I have to agree that overall CH provides smoother movements, due to its different internal design. I am reading in forums ll over the place that people have been experimenting with modifications on CH yoke to make it less hard to push/pull, at the expenses of even less centering force (elastic bands instead of metal springs). My questions for you expert simmers or real pilots: 1) is it desirable to have self-cantering yoke in flight sim, or does it get in the way with realism? 2) how does the yoke in a real GA plane (C172, Chero…
