Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

  1. For some unknown reason my Saitek X55 Throttle disappeared from Windows this morning. I have now recovered it in to Windows but have been unable to calibrate it in Game Controller Settings. Can someone post an idiot guide or link to calibrating the throttle?

  2. Started by gpbarth,

I have recently decided to go full FSUIPC and disabled my controllers in FSX SE. So far everything has been working, with one small exception - the throttle levers on my X55 will not calibrate. If I go directly into the Windows control panel and do a raw calibration (using the Settings mode) through the Device Calibration Wizard, it shows the throttles, X and Y moving from 0 through 1023 smoothly. No jumps or jitters...smoothly. However, when I exit the Settings and go to Test mode, each throttle axis starts by jumping halfway through the movement, then smoothly the remainder. The smallest movement gives ~50%. This is through the Windows calibration. FSUIPC does the…

I have had the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke and throttle quadrant for about 3 years now and it has been working fairly well up until a few months ago. The issue is the X Rotation will not retract all the way. I will have the lever all the way in the up position but as you can see in the screenshots below it is showing it as partially down and will bounce back and forth rapidly. This is the axis I use for my flaps and it makes it next to impossible to retract my flaps all the way. When I advance my throttle (Z Axis) the bouncing usually stops once it reaches the 50-75 mark. I tried reinstalling the drivers and calibrating the yoke and throttle quadrant but nothing seems to f…

  4. First time ever that I don't understand what has gone wrong with the pc and Win 7. Everything was working fine until I disconnected the various devices to move the pc to another location. After connecting all the devices again, only the joysticks are no longer recognized. Normally, in the device panel a new device shows up when it's hooked into a USB port. Now nothing happens. It happens with only the joysticks. If I connect a usb flash drive, or a camera, Windows recognizes it, so I know that the ports work. I am totally puzzled. I've googled for possible solutions and so far I found none. Hope to hear some good ideas. tony

  6. I've been looking at TrackIR quite a few times already, but I'm still pretty doubtful, to be honest. I've tried several head trackers, but they are all so jerky that I cant use my mouse in the cockpit, they never center very well and are hard to tune and then I read in several posts that those programs work as well as TrackIR... On the other hand I cant imagine that people would pay 180 dollar for a product that that is so jumpy that it makes the sim this hard to use as say, FaceTrackNoIR. I would love to hear some experiences from people who have experience with TrackIR, as well as other headtrackers, that can confirm a better stability of the camera movements a…

Hello! I've been simming for years now with my Thrustmaster (T-flight hotas X) and I've been looking to buy a more modern and advanced stick (or yoke) for flying. I have been given 150 euros (but I can pay some more myself) because I Helped a couple of weeks at a hospital (#under18yrs). Now I'm planning to get the saitek yoke (not the cessna one) or the saitek X55. I fly a lot of different aircraft: airbus, boeing, GA... And I would like to know what would be the best option. The saitek yoke looks nice but does it feel allright? I read some reviews on amazon stating that the metal shaft causes some sticking problems. And is the X55 durable (Quality control?) becau…

  8. Hi Folks Thought I would start a new thread for Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS configurations within FSX, as there are quite a few other threads which are more "Warthog vs something else", when to be fair, the Warthog is miles above other "desktop" stick controllers So, with the Warthog having soooo many damn buttons and switches  a lot of potential owners (Or existing) might think "How the heck do you keep track of them all?" Well, I downloaded Henry's "HOTAS control assignment worksheet" and as soon as I opened it I though "Oh god, what do all these names refer to"? (No offence Henry, seriously it is awesome mate) So, I figured I try something visual, a…

  9. So, I don't have a set of rudder pedals. Just can't afford them right now. I do have A2A's 172 and have been using autorudder but want to get a little more control so I programmed buttons 6&7 on the yoke as my rudder buttons with auto center when released. I am wondering if there is anyway to slow the move back to center. Right now it slams back to center and is causing some issues.

Hello guys, I have been playing flight sim for a long time on my Logitech G940. I am REALLY, REALLY getting fed up with the reversal bug on the G940. Long story short, I've decided to spend some money on hardware. Can somebody recommend me a precise piece of kit please, no money constraints (just not Flight Deck Solution products), force feedback or not doesn't matter. So, here are some requirements. 1: Joystick/Yoke: -NO force feedback unless it is absolutely accurate, I am honestly fed up with weird FFB. -All I need for buttons are a trigger for brakes, preferably two stage trigger, and a autopilot disconnect (red) button. 2: Throttles: -At…

I have a number of addon planes,PMDG,Majestic Software, etc. I had my controller unchecked in fsx as I have all configured with fsuipc, everything going well...until. I purchased the flight1 kingair. I was having problems with the throttles so I reverted back to fsx control but still could not get them working so I parked this plane for now. I unchecked controller in fsx but have new problems. Only 4 lever out of 6 are working correctly on my CH throttle quad. These 2 levers when pushed slightly forward in fsuipc axis and calibration jump from the lowest minus number to the highest + number, therefore causing the fsx plane lever to jump from idle to maximum. I tr…

  12. Sorry if this seems like something that's been covered before, but I've done a good amount of searching and can't get a solid confirmation: Does the Saitek cessna yoke have any deadzones, especially in the pitch axis? I currently have a saitek pro flight yoke with the rubber band mod and there is an annoying ~1 cm of deadzone right at the middle of the pitch axis that is problematic for precise flying, especially hand-flying instrument procedures and landing. This can be demonstrated by going to the yoke properties in windows and also by looking closely at the elevator surfaces while moving the yoke smoothly through the pitch axis. Apparently there is pretty much nothing …

I've been using a couple of GoFlight panels recently, (RP48 and G8) I find that the control knobs do not turn smoothly in the simulator when I have to assign a control to a knob via FSUIPC. Is there a way to smooth this out? It can really jump around when trying to assign altitude or heading for example. The default assignments in the GF Config file turn very slowly so I opt for assigning via FSUIPC. Also how can you assign functions to buttons that are not preset in GFConfig or FSUIPC, for example I can't find a VNAV function. Jim

  14. I have several GoFlight Modules. GF-T8 GF-T8-2 GF-P8 GF-RP48 (Mostly just buttons) I want to use my modules in DCS combat simulator. I have asked on their forum but got no answer. I have read from searching several post that people have gotten GoFlight modules to work in DCS. I suppose just as key emulators - which is all I need. But no one says How they did it. Problem I have is the GoFlight software only runs when FSX or P3d is running. How do you get it to run when DCS is running?

I am currently using a Logitech 3D Pro and CH Pro Pedals to control my Majestic Q400 in P3D. It works well, but I was thinking about possibly replacing the Logitech with the CH Combat stick. My question is about using the throttle wheel to control the throttle. I am currently doing this on the Logitech unit and it seems to work well, and I am wondering if the wheel on the Combat stick would also work well as a throttle, for instance, enough range and fine power control. Is anyone using the throttle on the combat stick, and how does it work?

  16. Hi to all, I'd like to assign steering tiller to my Logitech G13 minijoystick. The problem is that this minijoy is not so precise like a normal joystick and I'm trying to fine tuming it via FSUIPC, but I'm not quite expert. I want to assign X axis to steering tiller and Y axis to brakes (L and R) on my G13. The problem is that this minijoystick tends to override my FLY5 axes, so I have to correct with my rudder (when I release tiller with G13), and if I brakes with G13 (Y axis) it works fine, smooth brakes, but then brakes are always applied, even i increase throttle. Does anyone have some tips on how to fine tuning with FSUIPC to solve this issue or any sugg…

Hello everyone, I'm not sure where this topic goes, so I put it here. I have HidMacros which I use to map a keyboard to fsuipc mouse macros. Everything works great, when I push a button, the switch moves back and forth. What I want to do now is disassemble the keyboard and connect toggle switches instead of keys to the circuit board, in hopes of building a full overhead panel. I use the PMDG 737NGX (fsx). However, to set a toggle switch, I have to deal with the always on (key always pushed down) or not on (key released) For the code I have now, if I hold down the key, simulating a toggle switch in the on position, the switch always moves back and forth, as a res…

  20. I've been running this hobby-business for a couple years now and am eager to help folks out that are not comfortable with the LED assembly portion of the infrared head tracking set up. I basically do the hard part and all you need is the free software facetracknoIR or FreeTrack, and a modified webcam (~10$). Please let me know if there is a design you'd be interested in modifying or that would suit you better and we can talk. I've sold upwards of 75 of these, never had one returned and had every user get them up and running. Customer satisfaction and an enhanced simming experience is the focus! 21. I have a problem that only occurs with PMDG Aircraft. When I push the J1 BTN 3 on my Saitek X52 Joystick, to change my EZDOC Camera view that shows the auto-pilot in the cockpit, it disengages the auto-pilot. I have to manually push the auto-pilot button in the cockpit to engage it again. When I push any other button or toggle to change to another camera view it's fine, the auto-pilot stays engaged. I've checked both the FSX Keyboard settings and my FSUIPC Settings and there isn't a conflict. I will also post this problem in the PMDG Forum, but there are a lot of bright people here also. Any ideas ?

  23. Hi, I applied some small enhancements to my recently purchased VRInsight 737 overhead. When I bought it from VRInsight, I asked them to include some extra knobs (to fill the missing plates) which I attached with some blu-tack.. I also printed out some guages (30mm and 20mm), and found some cheap plastic compasses on ebay, which I cracked open to use as bezels for the dummy gauges. I think that having some dummy bits in the "blank" areas makes a big difference to the asthetics and makes the unit look more complete. Anyone else with this overhead, please post a reply. Mount the overhead on the wall using a vesa wall mount, lay some black clo…

  24. While I use a joystick on my desktop system, there doesn't seem to be room for one in my laptop bag, and so I've had to resort to the Logitech F310, a near-XBox 360 clone, for when I'm away from home. I have mine pretty much set up according to this article -- specifically, with the "yoke" on the left thumbstick, and the rudder pedals on the left and right triggers. The problem I'm having has to do with coordinated left-hand turns, particularly climbing ones (as in turning onto the crosswind leg of a left-hand pattern), even at the easiest realism settings. I use my thumb on the "yoke" to roll it to the left while simultaneously applying the proper amount of back…

  25. i have had my ch rudder pedals now for a while now. What has always puzzled me was that they always feel like I am using the breaks. Basicly what is happening is when I get Into an aircraft and release the breaks with the rudder pedals. I raise the the oral and the aircraft moves right away. I then break and stop. Then when I wanna move again it takes a lot of thrust to get me going again? I recently installed orbx Bob and you control him the same as an aircraft. I had the same problem. It took almost full throttle to get him moving again after stopping once?? I use ezdok if that has anything to do with it. Thanks.
