  1. Hi all, I have a EVGA GTX 660Ti running a 24" and a 23" monitor. Usually, I fly in windowed mode on the 24" and the 23" displays Opus and ProATX windows and in this configuration I have no issues. However, with the Q400 it would be good to click and slide the PFD's etc over to the 23" and so I thought I'd try it out. To a degree it worked but, the cursor has a flashing 'wait' ( I use a circle, some use a sand timer) behind it and, despite going back to windowed view, the issue remains. I wondered if anyone of you clever people have ever come across this situation and what it might indicate. The card not man enough or some other component? Appreciate your adv…

  3. Hey everyone, My 4yo Gainward Phantom 560Ti 1024MB is clearly showing its age and so I started looking for a replacement. The rest of my machine (Phenom 2 X4 965 oc'd to 4,0 Ghz) is still doing fine. Anyone got an affordable FSX-specific recommendation for me? Gaming is not my main purpose in life so I dont need Starship-grade computing power at home and I only use one 24'' screen at 1080p. However, a card in my rig should be as silent as possible, because sometimes I keep the sim running at night during long haul flights.

  4. This post is to voice my most recent experience regarding the issues some have been having with the new drivers. The reboot needed to complete driver installation was the last my i7-5930K would have. Power cycling began, would never post to windows or even DOS. It would freeze and reboot at different times. Every blue moon, it would tease me with the windows sign-in screen, so I would try to enter my password...hah! Reboot. Even after replacing the motherboard, PSU, ram, video card, pulled all the hard drives to get to BIOS only, it still wouldn't get to windows. I was exhausted and knew the dreaded had occurred. After dropping it to the wonderful tech personnel at Fr…

What's with this driver? Some users claim a substantial increase in frame rates and sharper images with FSX and P3P. Many sites are warning users not to touch it at all - crashes and damages computer!!! Anyone know any more detail concerning this driver? Trevor

  7. I wonder if someone could help me with this problem I have a triple monitor setup with 3 - 23inch screens set to surround via my nvidia control; panel for GTX 960, I use a 4th - 17 inch monitor as an 'accessory' monitor which runs Plan G3. Now I have no real problem with the 3 monitors set to surround - Bezel correction etc is all ok . the 4th accessory monitor looks ok I have managed to run the system several times successfully ie the triple monitor display giving an excellent view of the 737 flight deck (enhanced by ezdoc) and the Plan G map portraying my flight so far.etc. It seems to work best when I sometimes manage to maintain the windows 7 status bar on th…

  8. Hi, I usually use a graphics card gtx 980 as principal and intel that contains the microprocessor as secondary, with P3D if I have both connected closes me and generates error, if I turn off the intel works perfectly. I want to use the intel to run low-power applications such as video player or a TV tuner, while doing long-haul flights. Is there any way to give solution and have both connected graphics cards? Thank you

  9. Started by Buzzardier,

Having managed to get a secondary monitor connected and operating - at last - I am using it to display Plan G. This is then intended to be connected to, and reflect my FSX Steam flights. However as soon as I load up FSX the secondary monitor screen goes completely blank. How might I solve this problem....with your help, of course. Thanks.

  11. Bonjour, I was using 361.43 with FPS unlimited, Vsync and TB disabled. Not too bad, but some hésitations in turn (microstutters). I read that the last 364.72 brings full support to virtual reality, and I said to myself that may be Nvidia changed something concerning the vsynch. So I tried. First I noticed an increase in FPS, but more microstutters appearing very very regularly. I reenabled in P3D vsynch and TB , it was better. Than I decided to use adaptative half refresh rate in CP. Now for me with a 60hz monitor and a 780 GTX everything is better. very fluid and very stable FPS. So may be something has changed in the vsynch management. It was just to share…

  12. Folks, I did try searching for the answer, but wasn't able to find one. I'm running P3D v3.1 and will be building a new rig around the 6700K. I currently have a GTX 780, and wondering how much of a performance gain I will see if I replace my GTX 780 with either a 980 or 980ti? I wont be running 4K. Is it worth the upgrade cost, and if so, can I get away with a 980 and have a great visual experience flying PMDG aircraft? I'm grateful for any advice! Cheers, Busdriver KPHL

  14. Anyone who's used 3440x1440 if they could comment on how P3D looks w/ this aspect ratio. Is there panel distortion, or problems? I'm used to 16:10, 1920x1200 24" Dell and slightly intrigued by Samsung's 34" WQHD curved display. Thanks--posted on the hardware section as well.

  16. In the newer released NVIDIA drivers, such as 361.91,there is mention in the "NOT NVIDIA" section that: Flight Simulator X–pressing Alt+Tab to switch to the desktop does not work. [293729] I have noted that FSX will minimize to the taskbar spontaneously using WIN 10, also happened in Win 7 and repeatedly clicking on the taskbar icon does not bring it up and that is curtains for that session. Workarounds included: In WIN 7 one could go the task manager and choose FSX.EXE right click and choose "BRING FORWARD" and that would restore the program to the screen. There is no such function in WIN 10 in the task manager that I could find. …

  17. Looking at going 4k (Samsung 65 curved) and want to know if anyone here has tried a 4k tv or monitor with P3D. I know I cannot get DSR to work with P3D so cannot test 4k rez. I expect it to take a big hit but not sure how big a hit. FSXSE did fairly well at 60fps with DSR topped out.

  19. This is complex for me but hopefully easy to answer for someone with much more knowledge about adding an extra wireless monitor. I want to add another monitor to maybe use a moving map with a flightsim or other graphic. I want it to be wireless and work with my wifi system. I found out you can make any monitor wireless by using this gadget: Microsoft-Wireless-Display-Adapter-CG4-00003 So the question is will it work as an extra monitor and display an image different than the main monitor image or will it just mirror that image?

HI all, First up, I'm having trouble with the Avsim search and I have tried Google, with limited success, the results not being specific enough or too varied to help much. After a very, very long time I've decided to buy a graphics card, and as it is to be used for X-Plane and non-flight sim games as well as FSX, I'm going for the top of my budget and looking for an air cooled GTX 980 Ti. There seem to be several contenders but due to a 290 mm case restriction, I've narrowed it down to three options: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti SC GAMING ACX 2.0+, Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 Gaming, MSI GeForce GTX 980Ti Gaming. I know there are other similar cards like the Asus Strix bu…

I forgot what I set in BIOS) I recently got the P3D v3.2 and PMDG 777, had ORBX OpenLC for NA and Vector, ActiveSky in the background. I was going into Vancouver, BC (default scenery) and I was getting spikes and texture was flickering pretty badly. Weather was pretty clear that day, very little cloud and no precip. FPS was low teens to single digits. My settings in p3d was medium at best (I forgot the exact settings). I'm wondering if I upgrade to a 980 Ti, will I see some improvement over my curren…

  23. I guess DirectX 12 has not been or can't be implemented for P3D yet and I wonder what SLI would bring for me. I aim to have the sim setup so that it is CPU limited always, which is to say sliders affecting GPU utilization I have dialed back enough to keep GPU utilization around 90% +/- depending on the exact scenario and moment in time. Since I'm not seeing much difference in what those slider do it seems like SLI won't add much, but again that is based on the logic above.

  24. Hi I have a sim with 3 monitors at the front, which are currently set up terribly through X-Plane's networked external visuals. I'm considering buying a GTX970 for my sim computer, which would allow me to switch to P3D, and could handle a whole lot of monitors. I've read about Nvidia surround which would probably make setting it up really easy, but the only thing is, all three monitors are different. (they're aligned at the bottom if that helps). Is there any (fairly simple) way that I could set P3D up so that I had all of the front screens off that one graphics card? Thanks -jamang1999
