I am using FSX-SE with windows 7-64, default scenery, default textures, default traffic and with ASN. My frame rates are locked at 30 (1/2 V-sync) and the sim runs smoothly. However, as soon as I go into heavy clouds, the FPS drop right down to 18 at times. I have the cloud draw distance set to 60nm in the sim and ASN (My ASN settings are all set at levels to give me better performance rather than better looks). Clouds in the sim are set to detailed clouds with MEDIUM density. My computer specs: Intel i5 4690 @ 3.5 ram - 8GB @ 1600 GTX 560 Will upgrading to a GTX 970 improve my FPS in…

I'm looking at buying a new graphics card in the next few months. I've read people using the 980 ti's 980 titan X's which are pretty pricey graphics cards. At this point in time I don't want to break the bank to get a graphics card. My current specs: Nvidia GTX 650 ti DIYPC Skyline-07-G Black/Green SECC ATX Full Tower Gaming USB 3.0 Computer Case w/ 7 x 120mm Green fans ASUS Z97-E/USB3.1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard CORSAIR Hydro Series H50 120mm Quiet Edition Liquid CPU Cooler – Intel Only Rosewill ARC-650, ARC Series 650W Power Supply, 80 PLUS Bronze Certified, Single +12V Rail, Intel 4th Gen CPU Ready, SLI …

It seems this is going to be a great year to swap my 980 for one of these, probably the TI. http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/nvidia-geforce-x80-and-x80-ti-pascal-specs.html I think this is an important part of the text:

Simple enough question. Choices are: http://www.microcenter.com/product/444614/Q2778VQE_27_Quad_Resolution_Monitor http://www.microcenter.com/product/445399/29UM67_29_UltraWide_219_Full_HD_FreeSync_LED_Monitor Current monitor setup is a 24" 1960x1080 and a 21" 1960x1080. I'll be replacing the 21 and keeping the 24 as my second monitor. Which route would you go?? Thanks everyone!!

Hello, I'm considering an upgrade from my current 21.5" 1080p monitor. I'm looking at either a 2k or 4k monitor in the 27" - 32" range. I want to be able to read the gauges etc more easily without zooming in all the time...plus I'm looking for more immersion, more visual "wow" etc. I typically sit 2'-2.5' from my monitor. I'd like to keep it under CDN$700-$800...but that could be flexible if it makes a huge difference to go a bit higher. At those sizes, is going to 4k really worthwhile? Much different than 2k? Any thoughts on a "sweet spot" for monitor size, or is the sweet spot "as big as possible"? I mostly play P3Dv3, along with a few ot…

I'm about to buy a samsung 65" curved TV. I'm worried it might be a bit big for the VC aircrafts like the 737 NGX. So is anyone running a 65 with the 737 NGX or any PMDG product? Does it look good?

Just a heads up. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/49cy4i/new_36447_driver_released_with_vulkan_support_in/ Update driver (364.51) seems to have addressed the issue but some still reporting problems. Might be good to avoid updating for now, until things are definitely fixed. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/921332/geforce-drivers/official-364-51-game-ready-whql-display-driver-feedback-thread-released-3-10-16-updated/1/

Hello, I have been having problems with display drivers ever since I got my GTX 970 at christmas. I have been using different drivers from the GeForce website and using DDU to to a fresh install. Last week I tried driver 364.47 and everything seemed ok until this morning when I got a blue screen with message "failed reset display driver". I restarted my PC and started flying again, everything was fine until I recieved a strange orange screen with a loud buzzing sound. The screen had no messages on it. Please help!

Anyone who's used 3440x1440 if they could comment on how P3D looks w/ this aspect ratio. Is there panel distortion, or problems? I'm used to 16:10, 1920x1200 24" Dell and slightly intrigued by Samsung's 34" WQHD curved display.

Modern high end video cards often have 4 video outputs (although annoyingly of up to 4 different standards!). If a second similar (or at least not mutually hostile) video card is added would that allow, in theory, up to 8 monitors to be connected? Assume Windows 10 and NVidia cards. Yes, I do know that multiple windows have a way of killing flightsim frame rates, but I'd like to know if there are any fundamental hardware/software limitations. Many thanks Bryn

Hi, If I run P3D in 1040 resolution on 1080 24' monitor, does it mean that purchasing 1440 27' monitor will be an overkill for me unless I switch to 2080 P3D in-sim resolution? Thanks

Looking to get into the VR thing, but Oculus is very expensive, kinda low-res, and if you order now, you still won't get one until June. I do have a Samsung S6 with Samsung Gear VR though, and am wondering if there's any way to use this to get a good VR experience. Maybe through some kind of combination of streaming apps or something, has anyone done this, heard of it, or have any ideas? What's frustrating is that it appears that Flyinside software will not work with anything other than Oculus. I found a video of what appears to be a guy doing something like it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvDPcP0zZBo&list=FLz9Dyau2YrVzC_fAWhRi-0w&index=3

I'm setting up my new system this week (built around an i7-4790K and GTX 970 and running Windows 10). I currently have a 27" monitor, which I plan to use for my primary display for now. I'd really like to get 1 or 2 rather small monitors to use for my PFD/MFD and a few other instruments if possible. The only problem is that I only have about 10.5-11" of vertical clearance below my main display in which to put any secondary displays. I'm not married to any specific aircraft yet as I'm still learning and trying to figure out what I like, so this won't be aircraft specific. For now I'll be doing a fair bit of flying in the Carenado B1900D, but I plan on working my wa…

Hi all, I'm thinking of going down the triple monitor route.. I'm currently running fsx classic with many many high end addons such as orbx, aerosoft, uk2000 extreme etc. I was hoping for some feedback as it's an expensive venture... Is this going to kill my frames? I don't want to spend £500 on two extra monitors to fly with 10-15 fps My specs are as follows.. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/markwrd1/saved/bsN8TW The monitor I'll be using is an Asus mx279h

I have been using 2 monitors with FSX and EZDOK for years with no problems. OS was Win 7 64. I just upgraded to Win 10 and are now having a problem with EZDOK. I press down on the mouse scroll wheel and move the mouse to pan around in the cockpit. What is happening now is when I do that, as the mouse is moving there is a lot of flashing of different parts of the cockpit. For instance, if I'm panning across the instrument panel, some of the flashing might show the seats or other parts. As soon as I stop moving the mouse, the image is steady until I move the mouse again. Now the weird part. This only happens when the mouse pointer is on my main monitor. If I …

I have a 37 inch 1080p with 560GTX Ti and i5 at 4.4Ghz now. Runs fine enough with a decent amount of AA. I am not interested in 21:9 ultra wide screens, I'm just not. My main reason for a new monitor is I'd like to be able to read the numbers and text on the instrument cluster when in VC view without having to zoom in or switch to zoomed in view all the time. Ideally I wish there was something in like a 2560x1440 37 inch monitor but best as I can tell, that does not exist. I would buy a 40 - 45 inch 4k monitor but there are several things I question.... how bad/good does a 4k 40 inch monitor look at less than native resolution? i.e. if frame is too low at nat…

There is a big price difference for sure but for FSX, not sure the performance is worth it. Will it really help having the 970? If only running 1080p or 2560x1440 with medium AA, since FSX is so CPU limited, I would think the 960 would be plenty powerful enough, no?

Hi all I have a HD7850 2 Gb card at the moment running on a 6 year old AMD dual core (3.1 Mhz) chip and a Gigabyte Mobo. I have been running GenX! photoscenery with no autogen and the HD7850 copes Ok with that, except I have never been able to overcome the Vsync tearing despite trying all manner of 3rd party software to clamp the rendering. I have started to run OrbX! scenery and the FPS is much reduced, so thought to change cards to a GTX 970 in the hope of no hideous Vsync issues, better shading and lighting, lower power use, cooler, and better FPS. I can't afford a new chip/Mobo combination and only have the Win 7 32 bit OS with 4 Gb of RAM (3Gb address…

Hello all, During my early first SLI test with Prepar3D (remember the AFR-FriendlyD3D trick),several simmers notice that the GPU load never get higher than roughly 50%. A kind of 50/50 GPU load situation. Not that much efficient for a SLI configuration. I don't know since when*, but I noticed this last days that my PC case was warmer than ever (and I clean fan and other stuff inside regularly). Launching EVGA PrecisionX 16, I can note that each GPU gets far higher than 50% (very often close to 80% depending on scenery load obviously). * I just have update my nvidia driver (yes, I like to test stuff) to 361.91. I guess previously driver was the one download…
