So im trying to build myself a nice multimonitor setup at home for practice. I have 2 1680x1050 monitors at home laying around doing nothing and my idea is to add another one same resol to put three in landscape for outside view cockpit and another below 17" 1440x900 for the PFD/MFD. on top of that i would put a hig 12" tablet probably different reol for the overhead buttons, a 7" tablet for the FMS and another 10" 1920x1080 for any buttons i need to press rapidly in case of a simulated Emergency. Is it possible to do all this with all these different Reolutions? I would use a gygabite geforce 750 with 2 hdmi ports and two dvi ports. I believe the tablets w…

  4. Hey guys, I had a buddy who has a EVGA 670GTX ask me what he should do since he wants to upgrade gfx cards. He asked should he get the 980Ti EVGA or wait for the 1080. I honestly did not have an answer for him as I know little about the 1080. Can you guys suggest what to do? He runs 3 display 1280x1024 and the 670 does alright in both FSX and P3D. I am not sure how long it will be until the 1080 is out, but I know he wants to upgrade pretty quick. What would you tell him to do? Angelo

  6. I spent the day trying to figure out "why not" and "how can I", to get this to work but no avail.... One computer 5930@ 4.5, P3dv3.2, 39" 4k monitor, (I also have a spare 39" 4k if needed). 32" monitor 1900x1060 (I think) 2x 980ti GPU, (I also have a spare set of 2x Titan cards also if needed). I also have 8x 24" Thru 29" monitors if needed. I also have 3x additional computers if needed. I can run P3d in SLI using both monitors without issues BUT I get better frame rates if I run it off 1 GPU but it will OOM quicker if the card is taxed high. If I disable SLI and or remove the SLI cable, then try to utilize one card for each screen, I get an ins…

Just purchased a larger monitor and thought I would try to use FSX with Dual Monitors (running Win 10)...but I have a question on how best to use what I have to get better Frame Rates. I have a Dell Alienware x51 R2 with a GTX 645 card. When I plug both monitors into the Video Card and bring up a 2nd window and move it to the other monitor my frame rates reduce by half (the same as if I leave the window in the main monitor). So I tried plugging the 2nd monitor into the HDMI port for the Intel video on the motherboard to see if using a separate video card would help the frame rates. However, when I move my 2nd window to the 2nd monitor it just goes blank and after a mi…

Hi Folks, Been considering a replacement for my tried and true 4:3... I have a top end GTX970 to drive it... The Aerosoft guys have been raving about their new LG 21:9's... I watched a video on YouTube comparing fields of view in FS between the various aspect rations - and - I think I'm sold... So - the most prevalent critical comments I see are always complaining about backlight bleed... Is it really that big a deal ??? Curved or Flat ??? Does one have more backlight bleed than the other ??? Do I need Thunderbolt - this is for Apple machines only - right ??? I'm leaning towards the Dell U3415W - seems like the most popular - anyone have this - LG bett…

  13. Hi, Just wondering why most people who use a multi monitor setup, normally have a screen dead centre, then 2 screens at the side? The 737 cockpit for example, has a design similar to this.. I would have thought 2x 29" ultrawide slightly angled in for the front and then 2x 24" monitors for the side would look far more realistic? Also, if i was to do that, how would i get it so the 24" monitors would show the true aspect of how it would look if i was sat in a plane? Matt

Some people have unacceptable performance or other issues from their recently installed video driver that they "roll back" to a previous driver using the device manager. If they are following recommended driver installation procedures i.e. clean install, they should have completely uninstalled the previous driver. So how can one "roll back" to a driver that doesn't exist on their system since they just uninstalled it! Am I missing something? I can understand downloading and installing a new driver which would make more sense. Airbus

Looking to buy a Dell 4K S2817Q 28" LCD. I currently run two EVGA GTX 970 in SLI. I only fly P3Dv3 ( Uses SLI ) and XP10 ( Does not support SLI ). My question is should I buy two 4K monitors or is it ok to buy one 4K and use it along side my standard Samsung 27" LCD? I don't span P3D on two monitors, I use the second monitor for displaying charts, ASN, etc..... I want to run P3D & XP10 on the 4K monitor. Thanks for any advice! Pete

  16. Situation now : Three monitors as seperate outside views , driven by one Titan X ( 12 Gb ) With lots of clouds and multiple cloud layers and rain, the framerate is coming down to much in my opinion. I don't want less detail. Possible new situation : Two monitors as seperate outside views , driven by one Titan X Third monitor as seperate outside view , driven by a first generation Titan GTX ( 6 Gb ) The Titan GTX has about 50% of the performance in benchmarktests of a Titan X. Therefore 2/3 Titan X and 1/3 Titan GTX. Has anyone experience in such situation ? Eg : 2 monitors connected to a fast graphcis card and 1 to an older less pow…

I am looking to upgrade from a Dell 2407 at 1980x1200 on a GTX 760 to a 970 and a monitor in the 27-28 inch range. 4k is overkill for me. Is there a maximum recommended resolution above which a 970 will struggle? Any particular Dell 27 that I should look at? Thanks!

I’m about to attempt my first sim-pit and need some technical advice on my planned setup. I’m intending to use a 42” LED tv as my ‘windscreen’, two 22” monitors as my left and right ‘windows’ and a 22” touchscreen as my MIP. I want to include some scenery add-ons and have a couple of the Saitek instrument panels I can use as well.I only use my computer for flight sim however may look at using Xplane in the future. What I need to know is what GPU and CPU I should be looking at for this set-up to work? I’ve been recommended a GTX 960/970, will this be strong enough? My current CPU is an i7 860 2.8Ghz quad core, will this handle running 4 monitors and flight-sim…

No, seriously, thanks for pointing me to the Dell U3415W monitor!! Just received it yesterday and am so thrilled at the clarity and immersion level in P3DV3.2. I am driving it with a EVGA GTX970FTW and the card handles this monitor without any problems. What an unbelievable difference. I was using a Samsung 27" monitor, that really does work well, but the extra screen size and resolution of this Dell -- well, no comparison. Anybody on the fence for buying this monitor, I say "Go for it" as it really changes the immersion level in flight simulation. Lyn

Having a new set up with w10 and some problems with multi monitors, I posted couple pictures so you can better understand, easier then explaining LOL I know it is very unusual set up but maybe some fellow cockpit builder stumbles on it and had a problem like that and maybe solved it. This is how my monitors are connected, as soon as I connect the 8th monitor, 2 of the 4 connected to 970 card will turn off and they are no longer listed there is basically no way to enable them back, except reboot computer. when I start computer again all 8 work for about 5 minutes or so then 2 of the 4 connected to 970 will shut down :( I heard people were heaving some probl…

I have a Dell U3415W 34" 21:9 ultrawide monitor. I'm thinking about investing in a TrackIR. I'm a low-and-slow VFR piston fan and am constantly using mouse look, so I was hoping a TrackIR would free me from that. The thing I'm worried about is that this monitor is so wide I often find myself physically turning my head left or right to focus on what's on that part of the screen. I'm wondering if that will cause usability issues with TrackIR. I've watched a few YouTube videos on it so I have some idea of how TrackIR works, but I've never actually tried one. Any input on how well TrackIR may or may not work with a 34" ultrawide?
