I see some very amazing videos stating they were in "4K". I know 4K means 4,000, and I suppose it has something to do with screen resolution, but what does it mean with respect to a really sharp video, and how do you get it ??? I search other forums that might be more appropriate for this topic, but didn't see anything more appropriate. Dave Hinson

Hello, I am considering taking the jump to a GTX 1080 Ti as they are currently on sale with around a £70 saving. I currently use; i7 6700k OC to 4.4 Ghz 6GB Asus strix 980Ti It will be running a 1080p 1920x1080 on Windows 10 and P3D V4.3, currently running set to 50hz and frame rate unlimited which locks at 50fps. I mainly fly in airliners with addon scenery, so some quite hard hitting fps consumers. My question is, on paper, will i see an improvement in performance with P3D? Many thanks Adam

  4. Greetings! I am using the Steam version of FSX in Windows 10. I am running a year old system with a I7-7700k(non clocked) and a 1080Ti with the original installed GeForce 388.13 driver. I am using NVI with Nick's recommended settings(Mar 28 2018 Update), with one exception - 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling. I also use Steve's DX10 Fixer. I would say my graphics are excellent, if not stunning. The one problem I have is very significant stutters and long pauses particularly when landing at FSDT Airports starting mostly about 20mi out. Suggestions invited! Though I am not planning to change the display driver at the moment, in the list of programs in the Control Panel…

Hello everyone! I currently own two monitors, a 21.5 inch Samsung SyncMaster T22B300 Monitor and some old ASUS 17 inch VB171 Monitor. I was thinking of getting rid of the old ASUS and buy a monitor capable of running at 30hz so that i can play P3D with the 30hz trick. My question now is what monitor around 100, maximum 150 Euro is capable of doing that, if any at all? It doesn't have to be 4k, or be huge... a 21.5 inch should the trick, nothing fancy, as i am a student and don't have that much money... My GPU is a GTX 970, and i intend to use the new monitor on the main GPU, and the second with the motherboard's integrated GPU. Thanks!

Hello, ever since I simmed, I had a main screen for FS and a secondary screen for charts/apps/etc. Now I got myself 3 identical screens (1440p), mostly for work, and I can still use the sim-setup as a middle screen for FS and rest for whatever. But if I stretch the sim across 3 monitors and push it to full screen, my GPU (1080TI) virtually crumbles. So, what do I need to keep up with the need (I assume more GPUs)? Specifically: how many, a 2nd, two more (since there are 3 screens total)? And how do they have to be configured? Thanks.

  7. I currently fly in P3D v4.3 on a single 4K screen. I was considering adding a 2nd monitor perhaps 1920x1280 to run my EFB, Flight Planning apps on. Would this slow down the performance because my video card has to render more pixels? I have a GTX 1080 FTW (8GB RAM), and running Windows 10 Pro with 32GB of system RAM.

Hi all, Have been reading about a lot of problems with Nvidia drivers of late. Just wondering if anyone is using the latest (398.36) without issue in P3D 4.3? And if not, what is the "best" driver? I did have one CTD the other day with no error or any error log - but it's hard to tell what that would be as I have reinstalled Windows recently, and P3D 4.3 along with it. Thanks for any help you can offer! Cheers, Rudy

  9. For my next R2700X build I'm torn between: EVGA 1080Ti SC Black Edition £665 EVGA 1080Ti SC2 £695 Previously, more than 12 months ago the SC2 could have been found on offer for around d £660. I'm guessing the 11## will be overpriced from the start when they're released(???). I'm wondering if either the SC or SC2 will have a more significant price drop ahead, or after the release of the t11## cards than currently?

I have an old monitor that only displays P3DV4 dynamic lights is SSAA ( of course, it kills the frame rates). Yesterday, I borrowed a newer, better monitor to test and to my surprise it showed dynamic lights in MSAA too. So, what is it that I need to look for in modern monitors so that they will display dynamic lights in any anti aliasing mode I may want to use...? Thanks

  11. It appears that NVIDIA are going to delay the release of its next gen GPU's as there are too many 10xx GPU's left, and that's just a few months after we got told that prices have skyrocketed due to massive GPU demand caused by BC mining (yet, current gen prices are still crazy high) https://www.tweaktown.com/news/62296/geforce-gtx-1180-delayed-many-current-gen-cards-left/index.html The diminishing demand is not really surprising, given that GPU based BC mining isn't really profitable anymore.....but it looks like someone got caught on the wrong foot 😉

Hi guys, i have really wired problem with my pc connected to my TV screen, the screen is 32" and probably 1080p (i will tell you now why i know) i couldn't find anything online about this TV, its a fuji japan brand. while the TV connected to my PS4 it works like a charm and really crisp picture, and i can see the TV shows 1080p on the side. when it connected to the PC (1080 GPU) it looks horrible, the picture so blurry i cant even read, i tried on NCP to change to FULL at the colors, also no-scaling. also tried to change the setting in the TV (4:3,16:9. etc...). nothing make it better.. maybe someone knows? thank you .

I haven't used DSR before, but decided to experiment with it to see if could improve the look of the sim. I ran with 4xMSAA and 8xAF in P3D settings, and changed the DSR to 1,50x and 33%. Unfortunately, I did not see too much of an improvement, but the FPS took a hit as expected. The strange thing though is that GPU load (1070 GTX) did not seem change to much. I used the FSL A320 @UK200 EGLL which is one certain take a big hit on performance. With DSR off, the load of the GPU varied between 40 and 70%, while CPU load was at the top (4790k running at 4,2 Ghz) With DSR on, I observed more or less the same reading on GPU load. I thought this would stress the GPU more, or mig…

  15. I purchased a Samsung 4K QLED 6 (QN49Q6F) 49" TV 3840 x 2160 native resolution and the results are amazing as I followed Rob A's setup instructions which is pinned at the top of this sub-forum. The visuals are crisp and motion extremely fluid both in the VC and outside views however, I have started to experience pausing of up to 20 seconds and was wondering if it could be an issue with my GPU. Can it keep up! I haven't experienced any pauses before installing the new display. On the display I have UHD selected which allows for the high native resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 30 Hz with RGB coloring. I have locked the frames at 30 FPS and enabled vsync and tripple buff…

May I please seek technical opinions and advice regarding my next projector acquisition: I have been using projectors for simming for the past fifteen years now, it offers two important feature for me : (1) a life like image dimension wise, (2) it is much safer and kinder for the eyes than LED monitor screens. Later this year we expect the release of the new Nvidia Volta that will improve further graphic performances. However, we know that P3Dv4.2 is still pretty much reliant on CPU (mine is a 8700K OC at 4.7). So there will be some benefits but it is anybody's guess as to what it will translate to in P3D. From what I read on AVSIM and elsewhere, Lockheed Martin…

I run a 1070 hybrid and noticed something strange. The GPU temperature hit 90c but task manager showed 0% load on the GPU. Upon feeling the radiator, it wasn’t hot or even warm, it was room temperature which I found strange that it’d be that cool with the core running at 90c. I’ve tried multiple restarts and cleaned all the dust from the system to no avail, any ideas or thoughts on what this could be or how to fix it?

I recently read that a 4K monitor is better served by a 1080Ti rather than a 1080 GPU card. But I've also read that UHD is not a native resolution for FSX or P3D therefore rather pointless. Either I've misunderstood (most likely) or just a bit confused as the price for the 1080Ti is considerably more than the 1080. Clarification please as I'm putting together my next gaming spec PC. Thx

Hi Folks, Just read an article on Samsung VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) 4K TV's - it said they're slated for 2018 - are they out yet - seems unlikely as I couldn't find any by searching... Is this like Nvidia Gsync at a better price point ? The article I read seemed pretty enthusiastic - anymore info available by those in the know (LOL - here's looking at you Rob) ? Thanks... Regards, Scott
