As the title states - I'm in the market for a new monitor or TV depending on which one will work better with P3D. I have a 1080ti and want smoothness, visuals, the works. Also size matters but want to here what people think. Thank you. Tony

A question about using projectors with various aircraft types. I'm using Prepar3D v3.4. I don't want the aircraft interior to show in the projector view. In some aircraft types which have in the Models folder a file called airplanexx_interior.mdl I am able to do this by "commenting out" the line in the model.cfg file that refers to that file, like this: //interior=cessna172sp_interior. This causes the display system to draw only the outside view. Can anyone tell me how to do this for other aircraft which don't have the interior.mdl file? Is there an overall setting for projector use? Many thanks in advance. Don Whyte

Hi, I would appreciate some advice on which way I should go TV or Ultra wide monitor. I will be getting a Jetline systems with i9-9900K o/c to 5GHZ, 2080ti, and moving over to P3D v4. I am leaning towards the samsung 43" UHD 4K NU7100 tv(can't go bigger because of space) mostly because of the extra height so I can get a bigger view of the cockpit. But the 34" ultra wide monitor look pretty nice too with G-sync, although about twice the cost. Anyways appreciate your experience you have either way, Thanks Perry.

Here is my issue. I am running P3D on a 40" UHDTV. using a Titan X video card. Everything is perfect - but at 80% zoom, my primary gauge/display on my QW787 measures only 8" wide x ~7" high . On a real 787 it is 12" wide x 9" high. It seems we can't really fly at 100% zoom - because it will crop out eiter the bottom of the gauges or anything above the horizon. So 80% seems optimal. So going to a 55" UHDTV should give me bigger gauges?? Has anyone used a 55" UHDTV? If so 1. Would I see a big performance hit going from 40" to 55"? 2. How big are your primary gauge/display on the 787? or even the 747 using 80% zoom) I'd love to know so I can compa…

My Machine: 8700k OC'd to 5.0Ghz. 1080ti Duke (11GB Memory) and also OC'd a bit factory. I'd like to run 3 darbee 1080p projectors off of this beast. Is it doable? Would running it at 30Hz gain anything? Would it be better for me to add a 2nd 1080ti? (I can get another Duke rather reasonably) Thanks in advance. I don't run with any AI traffic unless I'm flying online. Addons consist of ORBX Vector, Base, and LC. Airports from FSDT and Flightbeam Also use ENVTEX. I run ASCA / RSF, and AS4 on a networked computer. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I started my renewed journey in Nvidia 3DVision under P3dV4 and after using it since 2011 with lots of pleasure in FSX on a 24" HD 3DVision ready monitor but now it's time for a bigger screen BUT... I need a native 120Hz for 3DVision and there are not so many options but there is a wonderful 35" screen curved and with GSync 120Hz ready but is is a native 4K Ultra Wide Screen and probably have to downscale to 1440P because of my, for 4K purpose underpowered GTX1060 in Prepar3D. Is there anyone in AVsim who is using these game monitor in tandem with flightsims and can give an idea about the image quality in 1440P ? Thanks in advance

I have using it since 2011 on FSX but there is (was) a lack on development to use these 3D glasses in P3D3 and 4 and X-plane but to my very, very BIG surprise it is running and working again in W10 and Prepar3D 4.4. After my disappointed adventure in VR, I have decided to go further down the 3Dvision road but can't find a good monitor in the 32" range that can handle the native 120hz. Yes, there are Freesync and G-sync compatible tv's and monitors now but are they working for 100% sure together with Nvidia 3DVision? Thanks in advance...

I bought a second-hand PC with the following configuration: - Core i7 - 4770S, 3.10 GHz - ASUS B85M-E - 16 GB RAM - 2 x 300 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 - Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4600 I intend to use it mostly for FSX with triple FHD monitor setup but not exclusively. As I've read, FSX is CPU demanding, however I wonder what role GPU plays considering the triple monitor setup? Does the GPU or VRAM matter more? What would be the best price/performance card for this configuration, either second-hand or new one? My first choice would be RX570, followed closely by GTX1060 3GB. I know FSX used to like Nvidia more but I'm curios has that changed with time…

It's enabled for GTX 10xx and RTX cards connected via DisplayPort: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/geforce-gtx-series-980-ti-and-belo-will-not-get-adaptive-sync-support.html Only one monitor is supported. The other monitors must not be set to Freesync mode.

Hi there everyone, I hope this post is made in the right sub-forum. As I've stated elsewhere I'm new to this forum and have returned to the world of flight sims after a 14 year absence. That's why I am out of touch with the technology. It appears these days that ___the___ most fundamental component affecting smooth performance of a flight sim ( P3D ) with complex add-ons loaded ( PMDG and ORBX ) would be the Graphics Processing Card GPU. I have a technical background and know CPU's RAM etc but almost nothing about modern GPU technology. Can I ask for hints and pointers to on-line resources, tutorials or videos that would help me thoroughly understand GPUs…

Man, I don't have any luck with new monitors. I just returned AOC Q2778VQE because of some "motion-blur" issues. I decided I'll just go with standard HD monitor and got myself ASUS VN289Q. There's no more "motion-blur" issue in P3D, I'm happy about that. But there's a new problem. The screen looks washed-out like it's a white transparent overlay over the image all the time (not just in P3D but in general, desktop, everywhere). The monitor has this "Splendid" modes like standard, scenery, movies, night,... One would expect that Standard is the "normal" mode but the image is totally washed-out. Other modes are pretty much useless... I just want a "normal" image. I already r…

I've tried a couple of VR sets and find them quite uncomfortable, somewhat claustrophobic and very awkward with my much needed spectacles. So I wondered whether 3d glasses might give me a better experience. I tried a low tech red/blue pair of cheap 3d glasses with a 3d setting on my bog standard monitor and although there was no colour as such I quite liked the experience, for a few minutes. Am I right in assuming that to go hi tech with 3d glasses I need a special monitor and Nvidia or similar 3d specs? If so does anyone know the approximate cost to set this all up on, say, a 1080 or slightly higher res monitor? What is the comparable cost between a 3d glasses hardw…

I am at the end of my rope here... I have a system with i7 8700 running at 4.3 no HT, and a 1060 6GB GPU and in P3dV4.3 I am experiencing massive stuttering. This happens when GPU hits 100%. I use 1024 textures and 1080p resolution. vsync off and limiter to 30 FPS. Settings are in the mid ranges. I constantly get 30 FPS but then when moving or panning around things start to stutter and making things unplayable...the culprit is the GPU. If I lower the autogen settings to sparse things improve a bit, but I didn't think that 1060 would be able to deliver such meager results... Tried all sorts of tricks with no results. Tried upgrading and downgrading Nvidia dr…

Hi all, The problem I have taken the decision that it is time for me to upgrade my GPU. I had been using the GTX 1070 since 2016 and for months now following the transition to P3D v4, I have become tired of the many visual compromises I had to make. More specifically, I have to always use 4x MSAA and I'm not even using a 4K display but an ultra wide 3440x1440. So, in short I have to live with shimmering and low res shadows. On top of that this GPU could not handle a combination of intensive add-ons with dense weather. Also, many times I had to turn down shadow quality or sim object shadows to get barely above the smooth 30 fps limit. Not to mention …

I"m not a hardware expert so maybe some of you more adept at this area could comment on what you think. I have a variable refresh monitor so it will be interesting to see my monitor will be compliant.

Just bought a brand new MSI GTX 1080Ti GPU abroad although I really wanted an EVGA but could not get it for love or money. How good is the MSI make? Even though it is a 1080Ti, is it on par with other 1080Tis? Thanks for any tips/opinions shared.

Just watched a review by JayzTwoCents. Not a bad review for a card that beat a 1070 which cost more. Looks like a good deal for those still on a 9xx series card looking to up grade. THIS is the way RTX SHOULD have launched... RTX 2060

I've been looking around for a 38" with these specifications, but haven't come across this size with G-sync before. Then, yesterday - this one appeared at the top of the page in Google: https://www.lg.com/us/products/wtb?modelId=MD06064936 Funny how that happens..... I like the look of this one - Vesa wall mount/G-sync etc, with a decent refresh rate. Might be pricey, though - we'll have to see. I'm prepared to wait....might be a few months. Regards Bill

How much screen input lag is acceptable for flying? Under 50ms, over or even over 100ms? I know for shooters I'd not get a screen that has over 20ms lag.

I've been using a 1600x1200 Dell 24" IPS monitor for years and am now upgrading my system with an i9-9900K cpu and a RTX2080TI graphics card. I've been looking at the ultrawide monitors but it's very hard to get a clear picture of what's important with refresh rates, gsync, IPS vs TN or VA, 1440p vs 4K. Anyone have an opinion or recommendation? Am I going down the wrong track with a 34 or 35" ultrawide?

https://wccftech.com/lg-2019-oled-tvs-vrr-allm-4k120fps/ If you haven’t experienced P3D on an OLED you are really missing out. The Variable Refresh Rate coming out with the new models might be interesting, although I am not sure how it works compared to freesync and gysnc.
