I finally got my BenQ PD3200U UHD monitor yesterday and I have to say the performance of P3D v4.3 is absolutely stunning. Every subdivision on gauges is visible and instrument lettering previous just a blurry mess is readable even with my old eyes. I don't have an Ai package installed so I know that will impact on performance but not hugely so. The BenQ PD3200U has a 3840*2160 30Hz option and switching to that from the default 60Hz has taken a lot of work off the CPU and GPU. CPU 0 is averaging 85-95 and rarely hits 100. CPU 1 is at 17%, CPU 2 around 30% and the rest below 10%. GPU Load is averaging 35-40% and that is down from 70+% when running at 60Hz. Ju…

Hello folks, I'm not a techie, so please consider this in any recommendations. I am interested in running Prepar3d (current version) on my current platform (spec below). I know I need to upgrade my gpu from my existing 1060 3GB unit and am contemplating an offer to buy dual sli'd GTX 980s (4GB versions). I limit my flying to GA and corporate aircraft -- no heavy metal, along with various ORBX packages. Will the 980s do the job? If not, what limitations and/or troubles should I expect? My current system specs are: - (CPU) intel i5 - 2500k (OC at ~4,4GHz) - (GPU) MSI Geforce GTX 1060 (3gb) - (RAM) G.Skill Ripjaws X (2x4GB). (I intend to u…

I have started to think seriously about building a proper 737 NGX cockpit. This will be a fairly long term project. No, it won't be a full blown, £30,000+ jobbie! I intend to make compromises on many aspects of the build, ie, dummy switches etc and only have things work that are needed in flight. It is likely to be a single format cockpit similar to the JetMax product. I intend to build the mip after Xmas, if funds are available. I am looking at using a five monitor setup, 3 x 1920x1080 for the main scenery display (not VC) and 2 x lower resolution 17" monitors for the PFD, ND and third systems display. My system ( I76700@ 4.4Ghz + GTX1080Ti) currently works extremely wel…

I'm in one of those phases where I am considering several options for a new cockpit build, either triple monitor setup or upping from my 4K 43" to a 49" curved 4K Samsung TV. I currently run an excellent Philips monitor and do so at 30Hz, I need to ascertain whether I will be able to run the Samsung TV at 30Hz, as it is a TV and not a monitor (does that make a difference) or whether it will be a simple task to do so. It is advertised at 60Hz but unsure.... does anyone have any advice, cheers.

Hey volks, I need a new PC for Prepar3Dv4 and I'm not quite sure what's the best option. My maximum is 1100€ and I've already done some research and came to a system, but I wanna know your opinion.. My current idea is: CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X RAM: G.Skill RipJaws V DDR4-3200 Board: MSI B450M Pro-VDH I don't know exactly which GPU is the best to go with P3D. Does it (still) make a difference wether to choose AMD or Intel on v4 linke in FSX?? GPU: an AMD Sapphire Vega 56 8GB OR a GTX 1070 Ti OR a RX 580 8GB PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 11 650W Housing: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark SSD: Samsung 970 Evo M.2 NVME 500GB HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB Do yo…

Hello all, I have just upgraded my rig with two new GPUs ... 1 x Gigabyte Aorus GTX1080 ti Extreme 11gb and 1 x Zotac GTX 1050ti 4gb. these are not SLI'd I have kept (temporarily for financial reasons) my motherboard, CPU and RAM although I have upgraded to 32MB in the RAM department. I have finally managed to download and install P3Dv4. Ok, now heres the thing LOL First running P3d without any tweaks or addons but with sliders set to fairly high I tried a flight in the trusty Baron 58 and using my 6 monitors the BEST FPS I managed was a speedy 9 FPS ... yes 9 .... the FPS rate actually got down to a not so speedy 3 at one stage but remained smo…

Good day all. So I am thinking to go from triple monitor set to a TV. The main reason is low fps using surround, especially at night. I have good performance if I'd fly with single monitor but when I use surround fps will drop by a half especially at night. I am hoping that TV will give me better fps. I hope. I know there are many topics about TVs but I am not really asking for a brand or type but what specs to look for. I saw people were mentioning to look for 4:4:4 chroma at 30hz and 60hz, 30Hz hardware VSync etc. I am a bit confused about all that. So long story short, what kind of specs I will need to look at for a good sim TV. So far I am thinking to …

Hi everyone, due to a lack of space I’m looking at getting a laptop for use with P3D and have two questions. It’ll have a 17” display, and I have a choice between 1080p and QHD (2560x1440). Given the screen size, both options would have a high pixel density and so I assume antialiasing can be kept reasonably low. My first question, is there a difference in image quality and GPU load between 1080p with a mid AA setting, and QHD with a low AA setting? Would AA even be needed on the QHD screen at 17”? Secondly, would a GTX 1070 be sufficient to run at these resolutions, or is a 1080 really recommended? There’s a huge price difference between two. I understand Dynamic li…

I'm planning to add two more monitors and would like comments on - how will adding 2 addit monitors effect my frame rates. Win 10 64bit, I7-4790, Asus Z97 mobo, 16G ram, GTX660 GPU, Samsung HD monitor. I tried out a GTX1080I and not enough bang for the buck. Will upgrade GPU but would like to understand the multi-monitor effect on frames.

Some are saying that lots of 2080 Ti's are dying. Some are finding that even the cards supplied after an RMA are dying too.

Hi guys, Once again I need your help. I made a huge upgrade and now the rig is working very well. 8600K OC 5.0ghz, 3600 mhz ram. 4k. But..... I have a GTX 1060 6GB AERO MSI OC. The card is performing good on 4k. But I See Medium quality in Cloud texture. So I'd live to upgrade GPU. Especially for 4K. Do I have to use a 1080ti or is also a 1080 enough for good quality. Need your experience in that case. I know the differences of both but not sure what I really need for 4K. Operate only one monitor. Thx in advance.

Yesterday I bought ASUS PG348Q it's a great monitor but I haven't been able to get it running at 30 Hz. Can anyone recommend any 21:9 monitors with similar specifications that is able to run at 30 Hz.

Hi, sorry - I wasn't sure which forum was best for this question. I'm looking to build an entirely new machine next year and also buy completely new controller hardware. However I would like to run a dedicated standard computer desk-based setup for my flight simming (including yoke, quadrant and rudder pedals) but also a dedicated physical race sim cockpit (such as the Trakracer RS😎. The race sim setup will have everything hard mounted - so even notwithstanding the fact that the race sim cockpit won't work with flight sim controllers anyway, it won't be practical in the first place to go converting the race sim setup to flight sim use or vice versa even if it did - I'd be…

My video card is an Asus Strix GTX970 The twin fans are normally OFF until under load, which is normal, and according to GPUz and other temp sensors, the GPU itself never actually overheats, even when running Furmark. HOWEVER, I've just discovered, that although the twin fans on the card 'appear' to be working correctly as the card comes under load, the heat pipe on the card is getting REALLY hot. So hot, that I can't touch it without burning my finger. Even under just a low load. I can't say I remember if its always been that way:-( What does the panel think?

Hi guys! I currently use 3 BenQ 1280x800 projectors for my 737NG home cockpit. I want to replace them now with higher resolution projectors, but keep the 16:10 ratio. So, anyone know a projector that is short throw, 1920x1200 and suitable for flightsimming? Thanks, Tom

I have been so impressed with the single 2080TI that I have(in comparison to the SLI 1080 setup I had before) that I just ordered my second one. Main reason? I game in 4k and the way the 2080TI seems to handle heavy clouds is VERY impressive to me. I was also able to turn on HDR for the first time and while my FPS is not extremely high, the game seems to run at a more consistent FPS with more detail and better lighting. I have a 7820X OC'd to 4.7 on water. 32 Gigs of ram and a 960 M2 drive where all the P3d stuff lives. I find myself flying more, and spending less time tweaking the P3D config. I looked at Rob's comparison again before ordering the second c…

The best alternative to the GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card is reportedly no longer in production, and supply is running low. The report comes from GamersNexus, citing multiple industry sources. In a companion video detailing the news, GamersNexus EIC Steve Burke emphasized the site's belief in these claims, saying "we trust those sources greatly." Those sourc…
