I finally got tired of 15 to 20 fps in P3D. I have bought the RTX2080ti, upgrading from a GTX1080. I have an i7-8700K with SSD's and 16gb. I fly with all the usual suspects, PMDG, FSL, ORBX, FSDT, LatinVFR, Chaseplan, GSX, ActiveSky. My performance is respectable, but can't break out of the 10 to 20 FPS range. So I decided to go for it and bought the Gigabit 2080ti Gaming OC vid card. I think that will give me some FPS insurance for the next several years. I only ask that you don't tell my wife. I'm just going to say "Oh, that's just some stuff for my computer." I'll let you know how it goes..... Jeff Callender

With so many people asking questions about what to expect from video card upgrades, I felt it would be useful to share my experience. After a CPU failure back in the fall I was forced into building a new system. The price of the video cards led me to continue using my EVGA GTX970 in my new system. My new system specs are as follows: Asus Maximus Hero XI Z390 Intel Core I9 9900K (OC to 5.1 Liquid Cooled) 32 GB Ram (DDR4 3200) M.2 SSD Win 10 P3D V4.4 This system was initially a disappointment. P3D ran very smooth at high frame rates out of the box. After installing ORBX Global, Vector, OpenLC NA, and SoCal it all went south. The…

Hi all, If there’s anyone who has this monitor, can you please confirm if the monitor supports 30hz (2560x1440)? The specs sheet from benq doesn’t have that mentioned. If not, any suggestions for other 27 in qhd monitors with ips panels...that supports 30hz?

See https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-graphics-card-security-vulnerabilities-drivers,38727.html. Quoting from the article: "A batch of new drivers from Nvidia offers a different incentive: protection against eight vulnerabilities that could be used to conduct various attacks. Nvidia offered details about the vulnerabilities in a security bulletin this week. They vulnerabilities vary in scope. They can enable code execution, privilege escalation and denial of service (DoS) attacks and can be found in drivers for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris operating systems. GeForce, Quadro, NVS and Tesla products are vulnerable."

I want to upgrade my 22" TN monitor to a 27" IPS and i was wondering, what if a monitor has severe IPS glow (backlight bleeding), would it be visible during night flying? If there's anyone who has a monitor with backlight bleeding it would help if he can share his experience!

Hello Guys, Recently Nvidia Released their new GTX 1660 TI 6 GB DDR6 with Turing Architecture, which, I must say, looks pretty interesting. Although, since Im no expert when it comes to hardware I wanted to ask for your opinion first before I make my decision. So, currently Im running on a GTX1060 6GB, apparently for what I have read on specs (the very basics) the 1660 gives better specs. But the thing is, will buying the 1660TI give me more smoothness for my sim and stuff, will it reduce the bottlenecks? and if so, which builder would you recommend, EVGA, GIGABYTE, MSI, etc? Thank you in advance for your help! Best Regards Rafa H…

Hello all, Win 10 Pro - P3Dv4 - GPUs x2 = 2080ti & 980ti. I have 2 monitors, main is set to 30hz running off the 2080ti GPU and the secondary is running at 60hz running off the 980ti GPU. I can set the 2080ti to deliver 30hz or 60hz but the monitor on the 980ti will only deliver 60hz, which appears to cause flickering on a window when I pull, say an undocked GPS window across from the 30hz monitor to the 60hz monitor. Is there any way of stopping the flickering and have the main monitor at 30hz and the second monitor at 60hz? Well this is a big assumption on my part, but if both monitors are set at 60hz, there is no flickering and the GPS is 100…

Just upgraded my graphics card from GTX 560 Ti to GTX 1050 Ti. Installed 418.91 drivers. Do I need to change Nvidia Inspector settings? Could you please point me to a good reference if I need to change settings? I am using FSX ( I know it's an overkill for FSX but I am planning to change simulator later) Thanks! Airbus

Hey Guys, i could get my hands on 2 Watercooled 2080`s. As they are "used i could grab them for 850 EUR each incl. watercooler. As far as i could see in Rob`s tests with the 2080 TI the performance in demanding situations should be better then with a single card. (Framerate stays at about 30 instead dropping down to 5 FPS 😉 ) The only thing i´m concerned is the VRAM the 2080 only has 8 GB my current 1070 also only has 8 GB and with True Earth GB South`s and "more" demanding settings it seems the 8 GB are easily getting filled up 😞 From the price perspective: 1x new Watercooled 2080 TI is 2x used 2080 What do you think? First purchas…

I just looked at the buyers' feedback on NewEgg for the EVGA version and the comments are discouraging. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487401&Description=EVGA etc 2080 ti&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&PageSize=10&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&ignorebbr=1&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo It's true that unhappy buyers are more likely to post online comments, but the level of failing boards is remarkable. And the price is still about $500 too high for my budget. Even with that size of a theoretical discount, I'd be afraid to take a chance on a 2080.

Hi. I am looking for a visual solution for my flight simulator. Half of the 180 degree screen is completed and currently I have a projector for right out view only and it is placed inside the flight deck next to the pedestal just to give me a view to that side. Have tried three different projectors none of them are good. Take a look at my site where I have my project boeingflightsim.wordpress.com. Anyone have any idea that does not cost too much? Led curtain maybe?

Hello, I'm building a new PC for myself, and am confused between the GTX1070 8GB, and the RTX2060 6GB. Both fit in my budget, and the final build costs almost the same with either. Which of these is better for suited for P3D ? What are the pros and cons of choosing one over the other for P3D ? Cheers 9W

I have got a 27" BenQ 144hz monitor and I would like something a bit bigger, I have an 8086 with a GTX1080, Would I lose much performance by going to a 4K 32" monitor, and would it be noticeable going from a 144hz monitor to a say 60Hz setup. I have a really smooth stutter free experience in P3d v4, Would my GPU be capable of maintaining that by moving to 4K. Bill

Hi guys, Does one of you know if there is a way to use a lower resolution with 2 monitors in NVSurround ? I now use 4K tv’s and while first the framerate was able to stay at 25 it now drops to 13-14 with Dutch winter weather + AI aircraft + TE Netherlands. As far as I have seen it the 2080Ti is continuesly running at 100% ( gpu ). Probably because 3x 4K is like 12 2K.. I am able to choose 1920x1080 per display, but the moment I choose NVSurround for 2 monitors I am getting 7680x2160 instead of 3840x1080. It seems that NVSurround automatically switches to 4K . Any idea as buying 2 extra 2080Ti is out of financial range at this moment ( just bought…

If I have three 1920x1080 monitors setup with Nvidia surround giving me 5760x1080, what catagory does my resolution really fall under; 1080p or 4k? Or am I really in a special bracket? Thanks.

I currently have a desktop PC windows 10 with a Nvidia GTX970 graphics card. Via my credit card I get a $100 credit from dell. I was thinking about picking up an alienware monitor. The monitor comes with either freesync or for $120 more gsync. My understanding is that the gtx970 wouldn't be able to utlize either of these. I hear talk about 4k monitors and that they are fairly expensive (again I am limited to buying from dell to be able to use my credit and 10% discount). Are 4k monitors the wave of the future? Will their prices drop down quite a bit in the next year or two? I don't see the point in a high end monitor yet until I have the money to upgrade to a higher end …

A friend of mine has just very kindly given me a GTX570. I run a pretty good setup with P3D v4.4, a 1080ti on an Asus Z-170 motherboard running an I7 6700 @ 4.5. I currently run the GPU with a 4K 43" monitor with a second small 15" monitor for extra panels. Disabling this monitor has no effect whatsoever on the performance. If I had two additional 19" HD monitors, would it run them both alongside the 4K? It seems a shame not to try and take advantage of a second GPU in some way if at all possible. My question is, what could I use this second GPU for, if at all?

Hi Everyone I currently am running a triple monitor setup but all three of the monitors are very old. I’m thinking of switching to a single ultra wide monitor. I’m running a 1070 card for graphics ... any recommends out there? I read some articles that recommended : Best Ultrawide 1440p – LG 34UC80-B, but as far as I can tell it isn’t available in Australia. Budget is around the 1k mark. Appreciate any advice!

So 3Dmark adds a raytracing demo, and drops to 85% off the normal price due to the new Steam super sale. Finally something to test and show off those 2080 cards with! https://store.steampowered.com/app/223850/3DMark/
