Here are the results of some testing I did in P3D V4.3 comparing 2X 2080Ti (SLI) vs. 1X 2080Ti vs. 1X TitanXP. CPU 7900X 5Ghz, 32GB DDR, Win10 1809, M.2 SSDs I tested with 3 Graphic settings scenarios using a single recorded flight so that playback was always consistent. In all cases AI Traffic and Road/Boat Traffic was disabled. Weather was clear. The graphics settings (cfg files) I used are (4K and TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=10 in all tests) Medium (All Terrain settings at Max with exception of Building AG = Very Dense, DL enabled) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1c2mIEHf3HvNKQoDNNYeRNsvFOiimUljn High (Medium settings + DR = Medium,…

Situation: I am needing to buy an active DisplayPort to hdmi cable (to go from a 1060 card to a 1080 hd hdmi input monitor. I believe the card supports DisplayPort 1.4 and the monitor input is hdmi 1.3. Does anyone know the basic spec I should be looking for (i.e., what minimum version of DisplayPort and hdmi ends will work? Many thanks, Brian

Hello, I have just finally made the jump from FSX to P3D. The screen resolution options in P3D (version4.5) have 1920x1080 as the maximum option. Is this because it knows I have only a GTX1070 card and a 1920x1080 monitor? Would going to a an RTX2080 and new 4K monitor bring up the 3842x2160 option in P3D or does it simply not run at these higher resolutions? Hope this is not a really dumb question from a novice! Thanks, Steve.

Hi! I have GTX 1070 + 7700K @4.8 and I am running P3D and X-Plane in 4K. This setup struggles to maintain 25 or 30 fps on demanding scenarios and I am considering upgrading. I could get used GTX 1080 TI with warranty for 470€. What do you think, should I grab this or wait for the new Nvidia ´Super´ cards? New cards will probably lower the prices of used 1080 TI's. My budget is around 500€. Thanks!

Using a 38UC99 (3840 x 1600) with a 1080ti SC2 (11gb) in P3d4.4. I am able to achieve decent/high frame rates with most add-ons (usually in the high 30's), and exterior views such as spot view and locked spot swing around very smoothly using the hat switch. What I'm seeing is that the monitor stutters slightly when the view is panning in a purely horizontal fashion, in cockpit view for example when taxiing/turning. It's not severe, but noticeable. My question is if this might be improved via a display setting, refresh rate, etc, or if it may just be a product of the monitor hardware and the pure width of the resolution being displayed...?

  10. Hi Simmers I did the following post on Dear Avsim flight simmers I have been out of the graphic card running more than one screen for 7 years.. because I have had 2 sets of TripleHead2Go's With an RTX card like 2060 is it possible to plug 3 screens? It was sure not possible 7 years ago with cards affordable to the commonly mortal part of the population. Like me😎 Best Regards Jens Michlas

  12. Hey, I am super interested in the price wars of AMD and Nvidia happening right now. I am planning to upgrade from my good ole 980 GTX to the current generation cards. My max limit is 2080 GTX. Even 2070 Super looks amazing. As of last night AMD just amped the price wars with their new cards. Any ideas on how the previous generation of AMD cards work with Prepar3d; that way I may have a clue on how the new AMD cards could work (the reviews will be out tomorrow on NAVI cards) I have few sims on my end - Prepar3d 4.5HF1, Aerofly FS2, DCS and Xplane-11 - but I mainly use Prepar3d4.5HF1 and DCS --- plus heavy use of VR - Rift S Thanks

Hi all. Creating this thread just to tell you my experience in moving up in resolutions and hopefully anyone googling to research graphics cards will find this beneficial. So I've completely moved over from FSX:SE to P3D v4. So I'm new to the P3D platform. 1080p system was: i5 - 9600k O/C to 4.8ghz - could get it to 5ghz but pushing too much vcore and heat so lost the lottery unfortunately. Ram is 2x8 - 16gb Kingston Hyper X 2400mhz. SSD 1TB. Vid card was a Asus Radeon RX 580 8GB OC - pushed it further to 1410mhz clock speed, so about an extra 500mhz squeezed out of it. So following the usual setting guides for 1080p resolution I av…

Hi guys, I'm running a i7-4770 with a gtx970 and 16GB ram. I don't have the money to buy a new machine nor I can upgrade the CPU (it's a dell xps 8700). Only part I can change is the GPU. Do you think is it worth it, let's say buy a gtx1080 8gb ram? I'm using p3d v4.5 and x-plane 11.... Thanks!

  16. Its a much simpler question asked further down but this is just a little background for those who may ask - Signed up for help with this so be gentle , Hadn't touched flight sim since 2000 as a kid using a joystick and no real idea how to operate it. Recently went on a full flight simulator experience which rekindled it and then checked to see what was going on with flight sims now and am overloaded ha. I had only recently bought a new gaming laptop so was good there ( MSI GS75 ) which has a RTX 2060i in it. So I bought the steam version of FSX and most of the Saitek/logitek equipment , grabbed a few old monitors and began setup. My first issue was getting multiple s…

  18. Hi All I'm running a MSI 1070ti with 3 x 27in AOC on the Display port outputs. This works really well for FSX in full screen. I wanted to add another smaller screen to run progs such as Aivlasoft EFB, and the PMDG PFD. For now, I connected the 4th monitor to the IGPU of the motherboard with RGB cable. This works fine in windowed mode until I fire up FSX into full screen mode then the 4th screen goes black. The 4th screen has a DPI input and there is a DPI out on the 1070Ti. Should I use this? Is there a way to include the 4th monitor in full screen mode as I much prefer flying in full screen and seeing the Aivlasoft EFB in action. Thanks for…

  20. Hello everyone. I'd like to "upgrade my monitor" to my laptop, i.e., get an external monitor and connect it to my laptop, as single display. Specs are in my signature. Right now I'm able to keep 30 FPS and to use the 1/2 refresh rate in FS9; and 20 FPS locked and 1/3 refresh rate in FSX-SE (I could do better, but I can't keep 30 FPS at all times). My laptop screen resolution is just 1366x768. I'm sick and tired of this, and I want something better. I was thinking of a 1920x1080 (24" or a bit higher), but then I saw the 2K monitors (2560x1440). However, I saw some comments in forums where people reported that their GPUs were not powerful enough for the resolution. These…

This has probably been discussed before but I wanted to post here in case this has not been mentioned here. I was reading an old Avsim thread about adjusting the CUDA compute setting in Nvidia inspector to improve P3D performance. I use photo scenery and I have noticed stutters with it sometimes. No blurries, just the odd stutter like pauses right in the approach, which kind of take away the fun. I cannot explain the technical details behind this for brevity. My Nvidia Inspector I used to have until today did not have an option to change the CUDA setting. But I found this online article which discusses it and points to versions of Nvidia inspector that allow t…

Hi, Want to build a dedicated system for XP11 and was going to go with the new Ryzen 3000 series but tbh I still think 9900k/2080ti will be the fastest overall. I really want to go 4k but don't want to be suffering from low fps either. Will 9900k/2080ti give me a decent FPS using 4k with plenty of add on scenery, aircraft, weather etc? Or is it best to go 1440p for now?
