  1. Hey All! So as of yesterday I having this very strange issues with FSX. When I load FSX, I now have to switch which screen it is on each time I load. This is because my sim has very jagged lines as seen here: http://prntscr.com/iz9ett But, if I switch it to the other screen, as seen here: http://prntscr.com/iz9f21 you will notice that the lines are much cleaner and smooth. My two displays are both the same, with the same settings. I have had friends (who are much more computer savvy than I am, look into this, and nobody can figure it out. This happened after using teamviewer, and I have since uninstalled teamviewer. While its not a huge deal to…

  2. So BenQ has come out with this 4K projector: http://www.projectorcentral.com/BenQ-HT2550.htm Is it possible to do a 3 projector set up with this in P3Dv4 and get 30 FPS. I get that a 1080ti with 3 views probably won’t do it. Would SLI do the trick with 3 cards? Would you need to do multichannel set up? Would 2k be an option considering the specs of the projector? I am also talking standard addons like AS16, Skyforce, PMDG using VC, Orbx sceneries, UTL and adding airports. Let’s say using this: http://www.simpit.co.nz/index.php/features-2/projection-display-solutions/simpit-270-centurion For the sake of theory is it possible to pull this off…

Greetings. So I am trying to make a final decision after the lengthy research. After reading lots of information about today's TV market and technologies and how it work and what is the difference, I am trying to narrow down my choices. Based on what I have read looks like OLED is highly recommended. Per rtings.com LG B7A OLED 55" is considered one of the best TV as PC monitor, however Sony A1E has a higher ratings but it cost way more with similar performance and quality compared to LG. My biggest concern is that all OLED TVs has image retention issue and because of that many gamers do not recommend OLED TVs. QLED TVs do not have such issue. So OLED TVs has bet…

  4. Hi. I am investigating an upgrade specifically for P3Dv4. The rigs I am looking at are designed for flight simmers. I would probably be looking at a system with an i7-7700k or i7-8700k running at around 4.6 GHz or higher, 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a GTX 1070 8 GB GPU. The big dilemma I have is what sort of monitor to go for. My existing monitor is an 8 year old 21 inch TFT running at 1680x1050. The colour reproduction isn't great, and my flight sim (currently FSX) looks rather washed out, and gauges can be difficult to read. My research has suggested that I should go for an IPS monitor rather than TN because of the much better colour reproduction. The question is whether to…

  5. Hi. I really hope someone can help me. I am having big problems with my current system. You may have seen in another thread that I am trying to buy a new rig for P3d v4. For now I'm running FSX Gold boxed on an 8 year old system which is showing its age. The system is a Dell using a 2.80 GHz CPU, 8 GB RAM and GeForce GTS 240 1 GB GPU. The system runs fine, albeit the fps with current add-ons are on the low side, but generally flyable. A couple of weeks ago I installed Aerosoft La Palma X and MK-Studios Tenerife Vol 1, as I am keen to start flying around the Canaries with all of the new sceneries that are being developed for these islands at last. I tried out La Palma…

  6. I'm considering the ASUS PB328Q for replacement monitor. Link is here: https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/PB328Q/ The review on Tom's is very good: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-pb328q-32-inch-amva-qhd-monitor,4427-7.html Although some of the other reviews with respect to hardcore gaming are not as good. Are P3D and X-Plane considered a hard core game that needs a good "gaming" monitor? What I like about is it combination of size, pixel speed (4ms), and resolution. Any thoughts as to whether I'm going doing down a wrong path for P3D & X-Plane? Thanks! Rich Boll Wichita, KS

Is anyone here using a 4K screen with G-Sync to play P3D v4? I'm trying to decide between a 4K or a 1440p G-Sync screen. The 4K is limited to 60fps, and the 1440p goes up to 165fps but I don't know if that's an issue. I get a stagger on my screen when I pan around the cockpit in heavy add on airports and I'm led to believe that G-Sync will help with this. I have an i5 7600K running at 4.8ghz and a GTX 1080Ti, so plenty of horse power. I get good frame rates most of the time, I'm just trying to get that smooth feeling when panning the mouse around... If anyone has any experience it'd be great to hear about it...

Hello: I am having continual problems with color settings not staying in nvidia inspector. I go to Adjust Color Settings. Pick what I like, apply it. Then go into Prepar3d v4 and the colors may be good. If I go from window to full screen mode. ( alt enter) the screen will wash out and go to an almost all white apperance. Going back into Nvidia inspector, I move one slider, just one percentage point and my colors pop back in p3d looking great again. Sometimes, but rarely the color will stay in p3d properly, but very rarely. cycling between full and window mode, sometimes the color will pop back on its own in p3d, but only in windowed mode. I updated nvidia to the late…

Are any of you out there using an Nvidia Titan video card. If so, are you satisfied with the performance? I'm going to have a new machine built, and I want the most horsepower I can get for P3Dv4. Money really isn't a consideration. Thanks. Pete Locascio

Today, my monitor rolled snake eyes (for those familiar with AH Squad Leader) and appears to be no longer functional. It has been flickering worse and worse with every start up for the last few weeks so it was not unexpected. Anyone have a good recommendation for a 27” monitor for P3D and X-Plane? Thanks, Rich Boll Wichita, KS

Now my PC will not recognise the monitor so I have a blank screen. i have W10 and cannot find a way to activate the monitor. Any help would be gratefully received Thanks Adrian

So I have been using pc speakers with a sound card till now. The amp on the subwoofer died so I bought a new receiver and sub to replace it. Connected by HDMI to the GPU for audio out. Problem is every time I turn off the receiver to save power during long hauls and what not I lose some audio in the sim. Switches, call outs and warning sounds are all muted while I still get engine and ambient sounds. This happens regardless of the aircraft. It also occurs if I watch a movie by bitstreaming audio to the receiver while in flight. There’s obviously something weird going on with the audio in sim if the audio mode is switched or turned off in multichannel. Is …

  15. Folks, I have an 1080TI FTW3 and managed to get some improvements in the XOC software, now I would like to persist the data into the EPROM/BIOS or any other way to have it saved so that I don't need to load the XOC software everytime. Is it possible? Thanks.

I first noticed these oddities in FSX so thought I'd start searching for a solution here. There are two weird things happening on my Samsung PX2370 display which has a TN panel and is attached to a GTX580: 1. In FSX certain grey values in clouds display as cyan. This also occurs when, e.g., watching YouTube videos with lots of grey values, like aircraft taking off in heavy rain, fog. etc. See the video link below for an example of the latter, but it is identical to the kind of distortion that occurs at times in FSX. 2. Sometimes the backgrounds of windows (folders, browser) appear as a very light shade of cyan. Imagine in Windows a folder window or a Firefo…

Hi! I'm considering getting a new rig, but have last minute concerns whether 4K monitor (looking at Samsung U28E590D, TN, 28", 3840x2160) will actually impact fps heavily, below acceptable levels. Planned config is I7-8700K (slightly overcklocked, maybe), MSI GTX 1080 Ti Aero 11G (slightly overcklocked too, maybe), 32GB (4x8Gb) DDR4 3466Mhz Corsair Vengeance, M2 SSD 1TB SAMSUNG 960 PRO, NZXT Kraken X62 cooling and some decent Z370 motherboard. Win 10. Prepar3d v4, expecting maxed out settings, activesky+cloud art, pmdg, orbx, photosceneries and usual heavy stuff. For both IFR and VFR flights. What FPS will I be roughly looking at (minimum base) at d…

Standing the bad prices for GPU what about if I wait till price drops (maybe a whole year??) but instead upgrade my cpu to i7 and more RAM? WOuld that make any difference?? I have Xplane 11 on a SSD Thanks for your help! Luca

  20. Hi all, I hope I'm posting in right section. Problem with running FSX-SE. I have a good 6 month old Dell Aurora R5, i6700, 3.4 GZ, 3 monitor setup, GTX 1080ti, don't have exact specs in frt of me, but I had it built decent for FSX. Recently, I cannot get the clarity part of the graphics that good, that is my main complaint. I understand on 3 monitors I shouldn't expect the same clarity/resolution as single monitor. I have tried some reputable tweaks, both in fsx.cfg and in Nvidia. I have purchased Steves Direct10 which helped decent amount. The only way the picture seems clear is on the center screen with overhead view, looking down, only then does the groun…

Hi Folks, I've got my new build stagnating in want of a new video card... Prior to the holidays - GTX1080's (not TI) were in the $500.00 range - now they seem to be in the $1000.00 range - there is no way in hell I'm spending that on a video card - anyone catch any news of relief lately ? I'm partial to EVGA but will certainly consider other quality brands... Thanks... Regards, Scott

Hello. I know this has been covered a bit but I'm trying to find out some specifics. I'm looking at configuring 3-monitor system where FS9 will be the primary sim. The video card is an Nvidia GTX1060. What I'm wondering is if there is anything special that is needed here for configuring. In other words, is the whole "spanning" thing still necessary or will this card take care of that on it's own? And if so, do I still need to create a custom resolution in Windows for the sim to read it properly? Is it still necessary to run in windowed mode or is full-screen an option now? Will the left and right monitors show the front-left and front-right views autom…

  23. Well, I received my new 17 8700K, DDR43200Mhz 32GB, NVidia GTX 1080Ti 11GB system yesterday. I was wondering what is the best program/utility that you experienced Sim drivers use to display all the important real-time performance details on-screen as you are experimenting with sim variables while flying and the their effects on GPU and CPU? I've seen GPU-Z mentioned and I have MSI afterburner, but that just shows graphics card performance details, but not the CPU. I've seen simulator video clips where all these details (percentage of each core usage, temps, voltage, FPS, etc..) are all displayed in the upper left or right of the screen in small colored text th…

I keep reading that it is better to run P3d with 30hz and I have heard it is better to run 60hz. I have tried both and I can't tell a performance difference (at least I don't think I can tell). Can someone explain what the differences would be? I am using a GTX 1060 GPU and have a Dell 34" Curved display U3415W running at 3440 x 1440 QHD. I run FXAA off, MSAA x4, ultra textures, and 16x filtering. I use unlimited frames and gsync. Should I benefit with 30hz or 60hz? What should I be keeping an eye on with one over the other? Sorry for a very open ended question but I have no clue about this. Thanks

  25. Hi. I currently run FSX Gold on an 8 year old system. Ultimately I would like to fly P3D v4, but for this I will need a completely new rig, and that is unfortunately not financially possible this year. I am looking for an interim upgrade to last me the next year or so. My current system is a Dell, running W7/64 on an i7 860 @ 2.80 GHz with 8 GB RAM and an OEM GeForce GTS 240 with just 1 GB graphics memory. My FS setup includes ORBX Global Base, Vector & OpenLC, Pilot's Global mesh, REX, ASN, plus a couple of study sim level aircraft and several high end airport sceneries (ORBX, Flytampa, Taxi2gate, UK2000, Aerosoft). I run FSX on DX9. You will appreciate that my…
