Hi, My setup includes: i7-7700 4.2GHz - not overclocked EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 32GB (4x8) DDR4 Enclosed cockpit with 4 Monitors - 3 for external views, 1 for instruments. I use 3 AOC 2369 monitors for the side views and the instrument panel - 1920 x 1080 , 60 Hz, and the resolution is fine. I use a large, c.37 inch, pretty old (maybe 10 years) full HD 1920 x 1080, Philips TV for the front screen and the resolution on it is noticeably poorer, but tolerable. (I don't use the full 37 inch screen but a reduced size window on it for the front view which suits my cockpit layout.) I intend to change to a new monitor for the front screen in th…

Hello All! Looking to replace my GTX780 with a GTX1080TI! What should I expect in terms of performance increase? I am running a 28" 4K monitor with P3D V4.1. https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=11G-P4-6696-KR Thanks!

I'm going to be moving soon and getting an "man cave", which means I'm eagerly looking to move on from my 21" monitor. I'm definitely planning bigger and think I'm looking at 4K TV's. I plan to eventually build a home cockpit and have been thinking that 3 curved 4K TV's would work well for the displays...which means I'm thinking of staring with 1 4k curved TV. Any thoughts on curved vs flat and sizes? I know curved hasn't made it great for movies, but people really seem to like them for games/simulators. And what should make me think of a monitor over a TV? I presume it's primarily response time, but is this much of an issue for flight simulators? Again, I could se…

  6. I've finally after seemingly years of tweaking can run max display setting and get between 20 - 25 FPS with standard scenery, nice smooth flight. Slightly less but acceptable with DRZ New York. My Geforce GTX 600 will output to three monitors. If I had 2 additional monitors how might that effect my FPS.

I am thinking of upgrading my GTX 960 for P3DV4.1. I am looking at the EVGA 1070 TI and the EVGA 1080. I know they are currently unavailable but I talked with EVGA today and they suggested that they would be very surprised if they were still unavailable 90 days from now. they are still in production. I am currently running 1 monitor at 1920x1080 resolution. So what is your recommendation and why? Greg

Hi everyone, I'm getting a new pc and I'm not sure what monitor to buy... I decided that a TV is too big and found out that 4K monitors are "only" 60hz. Would you guys recommend a 144hz monitor or is 60hz enough? Does it really get the frames down? Thanks for every help!

Hi all New to these forums so I hope I am in the right place. I am looking to upgrade my monitor, primarily for use with P3D v4, although I do wish to use it with other games such as Train Simulator 2018, other random simulators and some first person shooters. My PC specs are below Asus GTX 1080ti Strix - 11GB DDR 5 Intel Skylake 6700K @4.00 (can increase to 4.6ghz if needed) 16GB memory Asus Z170 - A motherboard Please ask if you want to know any of my other specs. Ideally I have always wanted a 4K monitor but as with everyone else, I am factoring in refresh rate and gsync. I have found a lot of monitors with both gsync and 144h…

Source: Nvidia/Anandtech: https://www.anandtech.com/show/12278/nvidia-releases-39065-whql-driver-includes-spectre-mitigation-updates In the wake of Meltdown and Spectre, essentially every major industry player has issued a security statement, and NVIDIA is no exception, especially as a hardware vendor. Their initial security bulletin last week disclosed that while their GPU hardware was thought to be “immune,” security updates to GPU drivers and affected ARM SoCs were forthcoming. Along with the standard updates and bug fixes, 390.65 brings some of those mitigations to the GPU display driver side. Strictly-speaking, 390.65 brings a security update with mitigatio…

I thought my 43" monitor was kind of big ! I didn't realize how big 65" is until I pulled out my tape-measure, yikes........ Something in-between 43" and 55" would be a sweet ! I was praying for a OLED with Freesync this year, but HDMI 2.1 wont be ready till next year :( https://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/bfgd-big-format-gaming-display

  17. Just saw this at CES 2018, it looks like some sort of light refraction gimmicky that makes bezels in multi-monitor setups look seamless. It apparently works with all brands of monitors. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2018/1/8/16860118/asus-rog-bezel-free-kit-gaming-pc-monitor-light-refraction-ces-2018

I will be grateful for any information in my subject: what will be better choice for Prepar3d V4 - buy 2K monitor 32 inch with IPS panel or 4K monitor 28 inch with TN panel? It's opinion that for 2K best option is 27 inch and for 4K 32 inch monior or bigger. Thank you in advance.

Hoping that some of the experts here can assist me with my issue. I recently purchased an LG 43 in monitor and a Asus Strix OC 1080Ti to drive it. I planned to upgrade from a Evga Classified 780Ti. My system specs include a Z68 Asus Deluxe Gen 3 Motherboard and a 2700K CPU. Also last week I replaced my power supply with a Corsair AX860. My information checks lead me to believe that although the Graphics Card is PCie 3 it would run on the hardware I have. I uninstalled existing drivers, shut down computer, removed existing card and installed new one. When I went to start the computer I had nothing. The power light on the 1080Ti was lit, the power light on th…

I would like to purchase a ~50" UHD tv as a monitor for either FSX or Prepar3d. I need to know the basic spec for a UHD tv. Assume that most of the available vendors know little/nothing about flight sims; and are in fact are really TV only "authorities". I'll add, that I: (1) am not a techy; (2) prefer to spend more time using the sim than tweaking the performance; and (3) live in Canada which means recommendations on vendors and tv model numbers probably won't be applicable from most users on this forum. Can someone give me the most basic spec that I need to ask for? Many thanks, Brian

  22. I am thoroughly enjoying the virtual reality experience using my Oculus Rift. I knew the resolution would not be optimum however as much as I enjoy the immersion I am unable to read my instrument panels to read altitude or airspeed or any other gauges or dials. Also finding airports is next to impossible as you must be right on top of them before you can differentiate the airport from the surrounding terrain. If the aiport has a VASI they are easier to find. Is this typical for those of you using Oculus with P3D? I meet the minimum computer requirements and ram however I am wondering if a newer more powerful graphics card would help. I have a GeForce GTX 780. From what I …

Hello to you all, I am currently diuscussing this on an old thread and as such, because the topic is not showing up on AVSIM front page, there is extremely limited current input. I am hoping this will get a little more airplay. As you are all probably aware, I am running 6 monitors in FS2004 (see my specs below) This is impossible on any other platform due to performance (both in my hardware and in the sim/s) However, I was very recently reminded of connection of monitors via USB adapters. I have no idea really, of the mechanics of this system, and, I further suspect, that it is not going to make any difference to my configuration. What I am looking at…

Thought I'd share a quick setup video (for games/sims) for my recent addition of a Samsung 8500 series 4K UHD TV/Monitor. I was somewhat surprised the Samsung didn't configure itself for the best possible mode for PC operation by default (out of the box) and buried away the most critical settings in their menu system. I know many are having issues with 'lag' at 30Hz refresh, but after using my Sony XBR 4K, LG 4K, and now this Samsung 4K (all at varying price ranges), they all were able to operate at 30Hz or 60Hz without any 'visual' issues and with excellent image quality. I also cover some of the Samsung HDMI "Black" options that can make a significant difference, esp…

I have a fairly strong setup but think I lack in the gpu area. Based on what type of flying I do (orbx, fslabs, pmdg, US payware airports), what would I expect to gain with a 1080ti? Currently, I average around 15-20 FPS on the ground And during takeoff or landing and higher through other phases of flight but smooth to my eyes and flyable. I’m hesitant to shell out $800 for something that will be tough to notice any differences. Spec are below. Win10, Gigabyte Aorus Z270x Gaming 5, LGA 1151, Intel 7th Gen Core i7 7700K (4.7GHz Overclock) Quad Core, Corsair Hydro Series H60 Liquid Cooling, 16GB G.Skill DDR4 SDRAM 2400MHz, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, PCI Express 3…
