  1. Hello,A friend of mine just replaced his 1.5G 580 GTX with a 3G version and states that he has no more CTDs whatsoever. Has anyone else tested and compared the two versions of 580 GTX in the CTD prone sceneries in FSX? If so, what have you experienced?Kind regards,

Is it worth replacing an 896MB GTX 260 with a 2GB 560?I have 8GB RAM but when running XP, it sees only 3.5GB. I believe also that XP uses some RAM to support GPU operations, is this so?

Hi guys,I have a complicated question, at least for me, heheheI recently purshased my new system in my signature, but now my screen is a Samsung P2070 1600x900, and my aa settings before with a LG 32" was 1920x1080 was only 8xS and it was... "fine".Now with less resolution i really need to cranck up some more AA, and i tested a cobination of 8xS and 2x SGSAA in inspector. FSX is truly amazing with this settings, but testing in Orbx yscb, the memory usage was 1200mb! thats 200 more than my card is capable of. And this caused stutter and hdd works heavy, of course all is defragmented. with 8xS and no sgsaa usage was 940mb, thats a lot. I never knew the memory usage since ye…

  5. I have two monitors connected to my FSX computer: 50" plasma TV @1920x1080 via HDMI and a 17" LCD @1280x1024 via DVI. Currently the TV is the main screen for Win 7 and LCD is the extended window. I can run FSX on TV full screen or windowed no problem which is great. However, I just couldn't achieve this: a FULL SCREEN 3D cockpit view on TV, and a windowed or full screen view on LCD for instruments/2D panels/GPS etc.The best I could do now is to start FSX on TV with a WINDOWED 3D cockpit, undock the 3D cockpit view into a separate window which I'll leave on the TV. I then move the FSX main window (now with black empty background) to LCD and open instrument …

I'm putting together a budget build with the i5 2500k, and would like some input on choosing a gpu. I don't want to spend more than $200 on the card to stay within the budget. Actually, much less would be best. Here are some I've come across on newegg so far. What do you think.PNY VCGGTX560XPB GeForce GTX 560EVGA 01G-P3-1373-AR GeForce GTX 460EVGA 01G-P3-1373-TR GeForce GTX 460 EVGA 01G-P3-1371-AR GeForce GTX 460EVGA 01G-P3-1370-TR GeForce GTX 460I just noticed while copying the links in from my wishlist how similar those last 4 cards are. I'm not even sure there is a huge difference between them, but since I'm a complete noob I'll leave it up to the experts.Cheers from c…

I wish to purchase (x3) 22" Dell monitors (model P2210) for my brand new TH2GO. These monitors run at 1680 X 1050 at 60 Hz. Apparently the TH2GO can only be used with monitors can display at 58Hz! Has anyone used the Dell P2210 monitors successfully in this confirguration? Any help would be most appreciated :-)

I am currently using an AMD Phenom II x 6 1090T machine with 4MB of RAM along with a ATI4870/512K video card. FSX frame rates are OK but bog down at times. I am also using a TH2G and three 4x3 monitors. Will a video card update make very much difference?

Hi guys, today I got my second monitor from a friend of mine. Now I try to attach him to my existin one so that I can use one as FS display and the second as moving map with Plan-G. I attached the second one to the second port of my GTX 260 but he remains black. I tried any setting in nVidia and windows 7, even desktop display on both monitors is activated but only my old one is showing the desktop. All I get is a "No Signal" message. Can someone help?

  11. Good Day, Could use a little help from the video card experts out there…… Currently running an ATI 4870 512MB video card with my Intel Core 3 Duo E8500 CPU which I have overclocked to 3.8GHz….. In FSX I get acceptable FPS with scenery settings at max with only water set in the mid range….. With LOD radius set at 6.5 and several fsx.cfg tweaks I have gotten the “Blurries” to a minimum, but still have a few close in textures pop into the clear a little late on occasion……My question is would replacing my 3 year old ATI 4870 512MB card with a newer ATI 6950 HD 2GB card help to totally cure my issues with the “Blurries”……. Got a very good price on the ATI 6950 about $85…

I've got two video cards..primary is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580,,,secondary is VisionTek Radeon 4320. Off the primary I'm running a trible head to go with three 32' monitors as the main display(1) also off of that comes a monitor for a vrinsight gps-5 (2). The secondary card runs an 8' (3) monitor for the PFD...and a regular 12' monitor for MFD, engin, and comm (4). I want to add a (5)th generic monitor for WX radar....but when I connecet it via HDMI...of which I still have a port on either card, it shows up in windows as being connected but its gray...and of course no output to the screen...I can't "extend the desktop" to it. I did get it to work once...but lost one of the…

My current graphics card is a 512MB GeForce 9800GT. I am well aware that FSX performance is more CPU dependent than GPU, but I was wondering if a 1GB graphics card would make a difference with respect to complex airport addons, and payware planes with high detail textures (like the Captain Sim Boeing 707). I am looking for a card that is able to load high detail textures/models etc. more quickly than my existing 9800GT. More raw power would obviously be nice aswell, but I don't really want to spend any more than £70.What about the GeForce GTS250? I can get a 1GB version of that card for £70, but I need to know if it would make a difference. It doesn't need to be all that …

Trying to span my main window on FSX across to 28" monitors. Although in Windows mode I can drag the window across both monitors - the right monitor goes black except for the FSX window outline while main the FSX picture snaps back to the left monitor, so it's not spanning both monitors - the FSX window frame does span both but not the main display. Again the right frame goes black. Here is what "I think" I know.1) Windows 7 and Nvidia don't support spanning2) The GTX590 does support spanning, but how I don't know?3) Tried every setting I can think of in windows displays and nvidia display (both sli mode and single GPU mode)4) Downloaded ultramon and although it spans the…

I am currently using fs9 on a computer with a core 2 duo processor (2.8GHz - E7400). My frame rates are good except when I fly into heavy clouds. They can go from 60 right down to 10.It has been suggested that what I need is a better graphics card for the clouds (I have a nVidia 430GT) What do the experts recommend ?I simply want to keep my good frame rates in the cumulus clouds ( I am using AS for weather - set already to the lowest res and quality). With no weather, my frame rates are 60 - 80fps.I was thinking of getting a gtx 560 Ti. Will this help with the cloud issue?Trevor

Ok, i have a Phenom X6 1090T @ 3.2 GHz no OC, 8GB DDR3 RAM and a 9400GT. I am not getting the FPS i am wanting. Is it my GPU thats killing it? I get like 15 FPS at St.Maarten or 10FPS at LFPG. Unlike other people on YouTube, they get like 30+FPS at 3.5GHz and a hell of a lot better GPU. Or do i need to tweak it?Thanks,Ryan

Hi guys just need some help trying to solve the issue! For the past couple of week ive been having a strange issue that seems video card related. It seems very random, I start up windows 7 and begin doing anything on the computer (nothing intensive) ex. browsing the internet. And maybe one time out of 10 the screen will randomly go black and i get a message "no DVI signal" on my monitor! But the weird part is that the computer/ W7 is still running! i can sometimes hear music still playing...but then after about 3 minutes the computer makes a strange noise and shuts down. Wondering if anyone might know a solution!thanksLucas

Well I'm excited. I am awaiting delivery of a major upgrade to my rig - a new OC'd i5-2500k with a dedicated Intel SSD for FSX and nVidia 570X is on its way. I can't wait to get going installing FSX and my add-ons and enjoying (hopefully) FSX near-nirvana.I am well on top of the install procedure for Windows 7, FSX, UTX, GEX, REX and UT2, and will be following received wisdom every step of the way just to make sure I don't screw anything up. Crikey, I've done it enough times now I reckon I could do it blindfolded... BUT I am also strangely anxious. A familiar spectre lurks at the back of my mind... installing the OPTIMAL video driver. I am frankly dreading going thro…
