Hi,I'm thinking of replacing my 25 inch monitor with a 40 inch TV, maybe one of Samsung's new LED-TVs but question is if it's worth it. I realize it is up to each an every one to make that decision but would be great to hear if someone already using a similar setup for FSX and if so what you think about it?

I just purchased the Dell UltraSharp U2711 Monitor for use in fsx primarily for PMDG aircraft. The resolution is 2560x1440 with a image aspect ratio of 16.9. Will this be okay displying the cockpit in proportion or would I be better to get a 27 inch display with a 1920x1200 with an image aspect ratio of 16.10?I was under the impression the Dell UltraSharp Monitors were amongst the best,Thanks in advanceAndrew Dixon

The title says it all, I'm looking for a good visual system on my limited desk space. I would prefer 1920x1280 resolution, but first I'd like to hear from you about your experience with similar screens. What are the critical parameters to look at and, in general, can LED TVs compete with monitors in 28''-32'' range for MSFS flying? Thanks,Dirk.

  6. Im about to get a new laptop (alienware M14X) with the "1.5 DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 555Musing NVIDIA Optimus Technology" video card. Has anyone had problems with this vid card for FSX? Processor is the i7 2720QM 2.2 (3.3 Turbo boost). Hard drive is 500GB 7200RPM SATA 3Gb/s. Should this all put me in good shape? Thanks for all your help, Mitch

  7. Current setup: i7 920 @ stock speed because no matter which way I try to overclock it it throws up bluescreens :/Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3ROCZ 6gb DDR3-1600XFX Radeon HD 4890Caviar Black 640GBSo anyway, the main question is: how much of an FPS increase should I expect if I were to update my GFX card from the HD4890 to a GTX 480 or 580. I've been testing the PMDG 737NGX out and I have to put autogen settings down to pretty much normal and sparse and lower the texture and mesh resolution quite a bit to get any decent amount of FPS.

I run 2 monitors: 27" ASUS LED and Samsung 15". The ASUS is on my ASUS 560Ti video card and the Samsung runs off the iGPU. Since I built the computer I have had problems with a corrupted image on startup and on restart (ASUS LED monitor only), after about 15 seconds to 1 minute the problem goes away and I does not return. Generally intermittent maybe once every 10 starts. The iGPU monitor is fine. I ended up getting an RMA from ASUS and just packed up my video card to send back. In order to still use the computer I hooked up the 27" monitor to the iGPU and guess what, same corruption issue, the Samsung monitor is fine. So I am guessing my video card is just fine and t…

I have GTX 460 (1 GB) GPU, and am wondering if this card will work with nVidia 3D (with the appropriate software/glasses), and if I need to use the DVI-D output or whether the mini-HDMI port would also work with NV 3D? (assumes that I have a 120 Hz monitor) Also wondering if anyone knows if FSX works in 3D only (or best) with the nVidia 3D, or if it will work equally well with some of the 3D options that are not nVidia that come with some 120 Hz monitors? Thanks, Bruce.

  10. I understand that although there are some nice Samsung 3D monitors around, that they come with a proprietary 3D that won't work with nVidia 3D. How does that translate to FSX (and of course we don;t know about "Flight" yet)? I have a GTX 460 (1GB) GPU- would I be able to run the Samsung proprietary 3D with this card, and if so, is it any good with FSX? And, is there a driver hack that I can do to enable nVidia 3D Vision on one of these Samsung monitors? Thanks, Bruce.

Hi all, I bought the ATI HD5970 about a year ago and have had issues with it ever since. Why is it the HD5970 gives me terrible frames especially in bad weather when AA is 8x instead of 4x? I am forcing AA through CCC, and as far as I know, this card should be able to handle 8x AAA like a dream. Right now, I am forced to stick with 4x even though it looks terrible. Another issue is that when monitoring GPUs, my GPU#2 is at 0%! Whereas my GPU#1 is doing all the work. This problem does not exist for other games except for FSX. Why? Someone suggested to download xtension crossfire 1.4 but there is no download link anywhere in the interwebs. *pulls hair out* Any help is appre…

  13. Hi guys I have the choice between a Radeon 6870 (for $139) or a GeForce 560 Ti (for $183). Is the performance that much better on the GeForce to justify the $40 premium? I'm also only gaming on a 19" monitor at 1280x1024.All i'm looking for is to get rid of the 'shimmers' on my Radeon 4870. Do the newer Radeons still have this problem?

Hey guys, I am posting to get your guys' input and opinion on a purchase decision. My full rig specs are in my sig, originally I did not plan on upgrading anything until Ivy Bridge comes out, but after watching all of PMDG's latest videos I am contemplating upgrading my graphics card. I currently have an EVGA 275GTX with 896mb of VRAM, and core clock of 648mhz, I am debating purchasing a 560ti Super-clocked, http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814130651. One thing I should mention, I am running a 24 inch Dell monitor at 1920X1200 resolution. My question is, do I really need this upgrade, will I see anything beneficial from it. I am not going to change anything else yet as I am p…

Hi Guys I'm looking to see if you could give me some advice as to if an upgrade to a GTX 560TI/570 would make a difference in terms of smoothness and overall performance on my machine. I'll be upgrading from a GTX 285, but I don't know how much of a difference it would be, with all things the same. See my specs below. Thanks for your help!

After hooking up a Sanyo HD32 TV to my computer, I cannot get either FSX or FS 2004 to load or run. I have a Sapphire HD4650 (I Gb) video card that runs just fine with my older ADI 19" monitor at 1280 x 1024 @ 75Hz. The TV is only suppose to have a max resolution of 1366 x 768 @ 60Hz.. I have turned off and even unplugged the 19" monitor and in fact am using the 32" TV right now to type this. It seems to do everything except run the sim programs. I have noticed others are getting messages that their video cards are not capable of running to larger monitors yet they too have much newer and more powerful cards than the message in FSX displays.. Is there a work around to th…

I downloaded this utility RadeonPro which is similar to the Nvidia Enhancer. My graphics in FSX is not totally screwed up. I removed the utility and also the Catalyst drivers and re-installed Catalyst but no use. Please help I do not want to go through the process of re-installing Win and everything else. Hello all I had a quick question for those that use Nvidia inspector for FSX.Do you have to load and apply the settings every time you boot up your pc? I use a FSX profile that is modified for my setup, but it seems like every time I open the inspector after I start my system the profile is on default not FSX. Is there a way to make the FSX profile default? Or do the settings get reverted back to default every time you open inspector? Thanks!

Hey guys, Been out of simming for about a year or so. Just downloaded the awesome NGX and looking for a bit more performance. If I recall I have a I7 975 3.33ghz OC'ed at 4ghz and an ATI 5870. I've been reading that NVIDIA makes a graphics card more suited for FSX for some reasons. However, I have an ATI card, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to switch to a NVIDIA card. Would it be worth the switch if its difficult? Or should I just upgrade to a better ATI?Thanks for the help,James

I currently run a good overclocked system (spec in sig) but the monitor is a six year old 19" (4:3) BENQ @ 1280x1024 (pretty crap rweally)I'd be very interested to hear what monitors you guys are using, especially for the likes of the new NGX, at what settings AND at roughly what distance from your eye point?Presumably, I should be looking at wide aspect for FSX???There is NOT room for very wide model. Thanks

  23. Hi I am running FSX on a system with 3 +1 montors using Matrox Triplehead2go on one dvi plus a single monitor on the other. If I start the sim in 3D cockpit all runs fine, but if I from there for example open a 2D overhead or if I go to 2D cockpit (F10) then the cursor switches to a blinking circle and framerates drop drastically. I have a win 7 x64 system with 2 nvidia 260 cards in SLI. The aircrafts i fly are Wilco A320 evo and the new PMDG 737 NGX. Both have the above issue. If anyone here knows about this issue I would like to hear about it :) thanks Best Regards Søren Mark
