I'm suddenly getting an FSX error stating that my graphics card (NVidia GTX 480) is not compatible with the current shader version. This errror displayed after I installed a new touch screen monitor (using StarTech USB to DVI connection) and after I installed the latest NVidia driver for my OS (Windows7 64-bit).Thinking there might be a driver corruption, I downloaded and installed the latest StarTech driver and NVidia graphics driver (295.73). No change.I went back to a previous NVidia driver (285.62) but that also did not solve the problem. I also reinstalled Shader 3.0. No change.I scanned the Internet for links to solving this problem but all I found were referenc…

Good evening everyone,Here goes...At the moment I am using a Samsung LED TV 37" TV as monitor, attached to a EVGA GTX 580.That works fine but since I was used to have a dual monitor setup when flying FS9, I want to recreate that for fsX.Now, I have read quite a bit on the topic and as I understand, FSX is'nt very 'friendly' when used on two monitors.I am flying in windowed mode and I read somewhere that using two monitors halves the framerate. So first question... Is it true that using a second monitor is puuting such a strain on the system/program that framerates are only half the normal framerate. If so, is that because I use the second monitor on the same graphic card as…

My present setup is two monitors. One has the cockpit view while the other has a moving map, GPS FMC, or any other sub panel.I want to add a third mintor as a touch screen. This way I can program the FMC with my fingers or play with the Garmin GNS530 from RealityXP.Here's one candidatehttp://www.amazon.co...30029656&sr=8-1As you can see it requires a USB connection and bingo- no need to hook up to the graphics card. Here's another one-http://www.amazon.co...8/ref=pd_cp_e_0So is this possible? Currently I have one monitor connected with a VGA plug while the other is DVI.Can I have a third monitor without it being connected to the graphic card slots at the back?Eytancom…

I know this kind of stuff gets asked a million times over but, I'm a lost ball in the tall weeds. So much of the video card info I find is for the latest and greatest, which I don't have.I need a video card to add on to my computer so I don't have to use the onboard nVidia MCP6 for FS9.Running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate with an AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core Processor 5000+ 2.6GHz with 6gb RAM. Raptor hard drives. Some PMDG payware, Opensky. Eventually want to improve my scenery with some payware mesh, etc. I may want to do dual monitors in the future. The computer is multi-use and not dedicated to gaming.I don't have a problem with having to go with a new old stock, used card or e…

Hi,I have two primary choices for graphics cards in mind at the moment.I can wait a few months and wait for Kepler to arrive so that the GTX580 prices come down.ORI can go ahead and get a GTX570.I know that many around here have said that the performance jump is quite small from a 570-->580.Is it worth the extra 120 bucks?

Hi,I read somewhere that using a high VRAM card cuts away at VAS.So, if I go and buy a 2GB video card, will this mean that my 4GB of available VAS will be cut to 2GB?4GB of VAS-2GB of VRAM=2GB of VAS

So, I'm trying to find a good display, for a reasonable price. My requirements are:1) Brightness and Color stability in all *usual* angles - I'm not talking 178degrees, but rather typical 30-40 degrees2) Responsiveness, least amount of input lag, and reasonable speed (less than 8ms)3) Good image qualityPricetag up to 400€.TN: problem with the vertical brightness stabilityIPS: problem with the edge glowPVA: loss of color stability when viewed at horizontal angleI am going away from TN to achieve some stability at angle, and ordered two screens:HP ZR2440W and HP ZR24W. Right now I got the ZR2440W, opened it, turned it on, half an hour later turned it off: http://youtu.be/AC…

I recently updated my Nvidia 9800GTX driver and apon reloading FS9 all my settings i had before were lost through the new running update...annoying! Every thing is default in the settings section on the Nvidia interface.I intially followed directions on a post someone put up that basically showed what the best settings would be for FS9 using the 9800 series GFX card, i have searched that post to once again follow the settings but it seems to have been deleted!Any help on this would be great.

Will this combo cpu and video card be able to run fsx? I dont need all sliders, traffic and wx maxed, just usable. Thanks for your opinions

I would like to know if folks who use the Geforce 560 series of cards have had ANY issues since installation. It appears Nvidia may have some serious issues with this card. Post if you've had a good card or if you have not.....appreciate it.

HeyI'm wondering if anyone would be able to recommend what graphics card to upgrade to. I'm currently running a radeon Hd 4850 which as we all know are reasonably old and was purchased two years ago, up until recently i've been able to manage fsx with it, however as such I'm looking to future proof or atleast have a graphics card worth keeping around for atleast a year or so. My budget would roughly be £90 but i don't mind justifying an extra £30 if needs be. Thanks

Hello all,I really like looking at some people's multi-monitor setups so I thought that If I connected my laptop up to my tower via the second DVI input, I could have a multi-monitor setup. I'm not sure if my GTX 560 has enough memory though, It only has 1gb. My monitor's resolution is 1440x900 and my laptop is a bit smaller. Would this kind of setup be possible?FrankP.S some of you might know me from the Orbx forums if you wanted to know.

I highly appreciate if you want to help me, but then, please read the whole post! Just to prevent you guys from asking questions that I've already answered in this post. :) Thanks!Hello captains,Around 1 month ago, I have bought a new graphics card. EVGA GTX 560Ti-448 Classified, this is not a regular GTX 560Ti, but one with 448 shader units instead of 384. I have now sold the card, because I highly regret that I bought it for several reasons:- I have many stutters in FSX, which I'm not sure are caused by my new graphics card- It's only limited to the newest drivers (285.xx or later). So this means, I'm not able to install the extremely stable 275.33 WHQL drivers.- It…

Hello all,I came here seeking some advice.I recently made the switch to FSX after the purchase of a new Dell XPS8300 with the i7.I’m awestruck to be honest, this was my first foray into FSX and combined with the NGX, it really is something else.I get good performance all in all, even with UTX, REX, FSDT, etc. I’m pretty happy, well more than just happy. However, as all of us FS addicts are want to do – I am always sniffing for a few extra FPS.The system I have came with the stock GT530, a budget card but it does the job. Now I know FSX is primarily a processor hog but I am curious if it would be worth upgrading the video card? Will I see enough of a performance bump to ju…

Hi,Well, I bought the GT520 about 5 months ago, and a month in, the fan stopped working...This didn't really mean much until yesterday, where I started smelling burnt plastic, and realized the fan melted! it still works fine, but I feel the need to get the card out of my system before worse things happen...So, I've started looking for a replacement card...I would like a little better performance, and a sufficient cooling system. However, I feel my other specs won't work with much...I have a stock Dell case, with only a little amount of spare room with the 520 inserted, as well as a 300 watt PSU.Any Help?

Guys,I currently have a 28 I-Inc monitor at 1920x1200. I was wondering if anyone here is using a large HDTV (1080p) as a monitor? How big of a resolution can you go, and is the resolution quality good? Ithinking on say a 37 inch TV.

Hi. can anyone tell me why i have two options in the graphics card section on the display setting of fsx. The first being gtx 460 the drop down gives me an alternate of gtx 460.1. The .1 option seems to give me smoother crisper graphics with less blurred textures. Thanks Steve

Hi,Last month I've gotten my new graphics card. GTX 560Ti-448. It gave me great frame rates but unfortunately also lots of little lags and little stutters at the same time. Nothing works, FPS limiter, difference Inspector settings, ran Bojotes tweaking tool, overclock is stable. I'm already discussing this in another thread, so no need to talk about this here. I have also just sold my GTX 560TI-448 cuz I reallly regret that I bought it. Gives me lots of little lags as I said, and, what if I want a second one to put in SLI in the future? This card is barely sold in my country so it's gonna be hard to find one. So, I just sold it, unfortunately made around 50 euros of loss.…

Gentlemen,I have enjoyed PMDG's 737NGX using three wide screen monitors. My new thought is if technology exists that I might be able to use my Motorola XOOM as the FMS and if so how do I go about making this happen. The XOOM is connected wirelessly to my router along with my desktop that FSX is using. I know I'm throwing a little hook into a big pond but thought is worth a try.

Just a heads up in case you're not aware, many Nvidia cards have problems throttling to lower frequencies when idle and more than one monitor is connected. This leads to a waste of power and extra heat.Nvidia inspector has a fix for that too, amazing little tool.http://httputility.com/article/dual-monitor-power-saving-nvidia
