Hi guys.A couple of days ago I turned my rig in for an OC at my local computer-pusher. I have no idea how to do it by my self, and he does for around 50USD, so it's ok...Now my question is:- say my local dealer gets my i7 920 running at 3.5 or there around Ghz, with a new cooler of course - what about my graphics card?He mentioned that my current card (Nvidia GTS150) is not much, but as I understand it, FSX is more about CPU that graphics card?On the other hand, I don't want to run 3.something Ghz only to see bottled up in a poor graphics card...In your opinion, what would be an adequate graphics card to accomodate a faster CPU clock? My funds are limited, so I'm looking …

Hello CaptainsAfter I updated my nvidia driver to the latest fsx won't start. After the welcome logo an error message pops up:"This graphics card does not meet minimum requirements for shader support. This product requires a geforce3/radeon8500 class or better graphics card. Flight simulator will exit now"I can only click ok then after a few seconds another pop up: Fatal error occurred, check solution or restart program. Obviously my evga gtx580 is enough for fsx. I tried to reinstall the nvidia driver but did not helped. Any help would be appreciated if it is possible to solve this issue without reinstalling fsx, because it takes ages to install all addons and setup wide…

NOTE: This post has been moved from the "Tips and Tricks" forum to the Hardware forum where it belongs...Hello,I'm using 2 screens in my sim, one displaying the front view and one is situated on my left displaying the left view.I was wondering what would be the best option to set this up. For the moment, my 2 screens are connected to 2 dvi outputs of my GTX560. I've set up windows to display a big horizontal desktop over the 2 screens. My fs2004 is running in full screen and I have 2 views open : a front view dragged on my 1st screen and a left view dragged on my 2nd screen. With this left screen I'm losing +- 20 frames... Is there another way to set this up having better…

HiI have recently bought the Asus 560 ti and installed the latest driver. But every time I restart the computer and start fsx I get an error message saying"this graphics card does not meet the minimum requirement for shader support. FSX will now exit ". So I reinstall the driver again even though it seems to be the same one and FSX plays. Turn the computer off and the problem occurs again. I have tried installing and earlier driver but its still the same. Can anyone please help ??Thanks Paul

I've held off a screen size upgrade out of concerns over losing performance w/ my current set up. My wife needs a new display, so I'm thinking of sending this one to her and purchasing another at either 1920x1080 or 19 so now's the time to decide if I should go to 24" at 1920x1080 or 1920 x 1200. W/ a new top end machine (it will hopefully be Ivy Bridge based in Q2 2012, w/ a new Keplar based GPU), what kind of perf impact from moving up? 5%? 10%? I'm doing a poll on this one! Thanks in advance,Noel

Hello,I got a new GTX560 Ti instead of my GTS250 for my fs2004-computer. From the begining I've always had this problem, made it work a few times I don't know how. Todays it's still there.FS9 starts normally and when setting clear sky everything works perfectly. Even the small clouds fs9 sets on default weather are perfectly shown. I can fly, everything is smooth and works perfectly.Whenever I go to weather and set for example "building thunderstorms", the moment I press OK my screens turns black, my sound is hanging and I can hear my video card cooler rising to 100% speed... I'm then unable to shut down the process or anything, I have to reset my computer.I've tried to m…

Hi,I am looking at purchasing a new video card for my computer. Right now I am using a EVGA GTX 550TI. I was looking at GTX 570's and 580's and am wondering if it is worth the upgrade. I also need to know what I should be looking for in the shader and memory clock speed. I have an intel i7 950 that I have not overclocked at 3.0 ghz but intend to do so soon. I also have 12 gigs of ram with an Asus Sabertooth X58 Mother board.. I know this is probably a difficult question to answer but what would be my best bet if I wanted to improve playing FSX? Thanks for any advice

Hello,I am building a cockpit full scale 1:1 2 persons. Now I have 3x 27" monitor on triplehead2go but because I have a iron construction for the overhead panel i cannot see about 8" of the middle monitor because it blocks my view....no runway....too bad. Looking for a good solution for that. 3x projectors are not option because of space and construction problems.1) would 3x hdtv work on Matrox triplehead to go on 3x 1920x1080 ?2) will there be any difference in quality compared to a monitor ?3) What size and number of screen would be suitable ? 3x 37" 3x 43" 3x 55" I will be sitting with my eyes about 3feet(1meter) away from the screens. (2 person cockpit, so each per…

Hi all, in years gone by I have experimented with multi monitor set ups using fs2004 but not since. For a couple of years I have had 3 monitors using eyefinity but only one game supported it really well which was iracing. What made it good was the fact that it would render three views across each third of the wide display. So, the side monitors did not have the stretch that I am accustomed to with eyefinity. Best of all, it also supported track ir with that config. Since eyefinity I have used all my flight sims in eyefinity mode and just adjusted to the fact that the outside views were fisheye. If you know eyefinity you know what I mean. I just had a pla…

Currently I'm running FSX on my main PC described in my signature and some time ago I got myself a simple HP Mini netbook where I'm running addon programs like Active Sky, ServInfo, IVAO IvAp, Aivlasoft EFB etc. Was a bit tricky to setup but then all has been fine but......since my HP Mini netbook doesn't really have the muscles needed to run some of these applications effectively I discovered (especially EFB) I'm thinking of moving back to run all programs on my main PC where I do have the muscles needed but I would still like to visually keep these addon programs "on the side" of FSX sort of speak instead of having to constantly ALT-TAB in and out from FSX hoping it wil…

My system is a i7 overclocked to 3647. My current video card is a 1GB GTS 250. I seem to get good frame rates with this setup. I still see some delay in texture loading, so a improvement with texture loading would be nice. So, I am considering buying a GTX 460 Fermi card. What improvements could I expect to see? I know most of the video strain is on the i7 processor, so am trying to understand why a "better" video card would help FSX if at all.Thank you,Jim

Dell has a new screen at 1920 x 1080 that looks attractive to me because of its smaller size at 21.5" and very small pixel pitch which should translate into a very sharp image all else being equal. What issues should one know about when deciding between LED backlit screens versus LCD w/ CCFL backlight? Thanks in advance!Noel

Hello all!I was hoping someone might be able to help me a bit with this issue.I have recently installed my FS9 onto Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.I have 4GB ram, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, a Nvidia 8600M GT 256MB graphics card and NVidia driver "GeForce 285.62 WHQL - [r285_58-0] which I downloaded a day or two ago, so I believe they are the latest.I have set an external monitor as one monitor, and my laptop screen as another - which I used to do all the time. The only problem is, with any aircraft, as soon as I undock a window in windowed mode, move it over, and then enter full screen mode - the sim just jerks at a few frames per second. I have tried various orders of doing…

I just got a new computer with Windows 7 and after installing Nhancer on it (to tweak the Nvidia video card on my system), I've discovered that it doesn't work. In other words, I get the Nhancer splash screen saying the version number but nothing after that.Anyone know of a fix for this?I'm getting a few jaggies in FSX (even with AA checked) and I'd like to improve upon the picture.
