Hi all, I'm in the process of putting together a new build at the moment and am fairly set on the below specs with the exception of the graphics card: I've been looking at the HD7850/7870 but I'm concious that really, an Nvidia card would be preferential. That said, I'm also concious that I want to get the best all round performance for my money hence looking into AMD options. I can pick up a 2GB 7850 for about £80 since I put that list together so there's certainly some leeway but I would be very appreciative if anyone would be able to give their opinion on what my best option is, with regards a graphics card, with a maximum price of around £120. As an…

Hi, Have been searching all over for answer but all I get is Confusion. My question is: What will be the result of pairing a Zotac GeForce GTX 760 2GB GDDR5 with a 28inch 4k monitor. Other specs are i7 4770k at 3.9ghz, 2 x 8gb Kingston Hyperbeast Ram, OS and FSX run on separate SSDs. Generally run all settings at max and get FPS from 25 to well over 100, depending on scenery, height, etc. Looking for a bigger screen monitor, currently on 25", but want to go 4k if possible or at least 2560 x 1440 resolution. Grateful for any advice Colfmedion

Hey everyone, I just got my PC built, and it is rather beastly. I am finally desperate to get on my flight sim. But when I load it up, it only fits on one screen, my primary middle. I have 3 Asus VG248QE models, 2 of them running DVI and the last running displayport to a EVGA GTX 780 dual classified (will be getting a second card in the near future to SLI but for now, without it). I am running Nvidia Surround and set it up properly, It works fine for other games. I also use a program called FSX Booster 2013, it really is a great program that sets up your fsx.cfg nicely. However I think for this it may have made my fsx.cfg broken. I also have UltraMon running. Any…

Hi simmers, My system specs are: CPU: i5 2500k @4.4GHz; RAM: Corsair Value 1600MHz; MOBO: AsRock z68 pro3-m; HD: Samsung SSD 840 evo; GPU: XfX HD6950; Now i'm running FSX with many addons (NGX, 777, FS-GLOBAL etc) and after several tweaks and optimizations (cfg tweaks, Shader mod, balanced settings etc) i got avg 25 FPS; My only problem is smoothness: even with an ssd, when turning on ground or taxing i often get some stutters (like a micro-freeze) i can't get rid. It's very frustrating. I suspect GPU is my system bottleneck, saw that GPU load jumps often over 80%. So the question is: upgrade from an AMD HD6950 to a Nvidia gtx 760 or 770 could improve the …

Currently I am running FSX stretched across two 24inch monitors using Displayfusion. I am using an Nvida 560TI video card. However, it is causing a bit of havoc with my frame rate as it has to draw two monitors. I have just come into possession of a second hand Nvida 560 card. If I install the second card and plug my second monitor into this, will this improve my frame rates or overall experience? CPU is an i5 3570K over clocked to 4GHz. Any replies very much appreciated. 6. I'd like to put a small monitor behind each Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Flight Control Panels. I've found some USB-input monitors and some VGA-input monitors in the 7-9 inch range which would appear to be about the right size. Questions: How does the image quality of a small USB-input monitor compare to VGA? to DVI/HDMI? Has anyone successfully integrated the Thrustmaster MFD Cougar Flight Control Panels with monitors that would be willing to share some tips/techniques? Thanks much. Scott

As there are plenty of 4GHz CPUs out there, why can not these be implemented into a GPU? Or why cannot GPUs attain such speeds? allen

Hello all, I'm ready to get back into the flight sim game. I'm excited about getting a new system that will run P3D to the max! (or as close as physically possible today) I have a question though regarding one of the main issues that led me away from flight simming in the first place several years ago.....and that's screen real estate.. or lack there of. My aim is to avoid all the panning and preset view buttons that overburdened my last FSX setup. I find the most enjoying part of flight simming is the feeling of actually being in the cockpit and looking around at the scenery and the flight controls. I'm looking for a 3 monitor horizontal setup for that im…

I am using a 27 inch hp moniter for fsx and I am wondering about buying a hd 32 inch tv to replace it. I have seen posts where others have bought 40 inch tv 4K(Whatever that is?). I only have room for the 32 inch. Would the picture be as good? I would like any info you could give me. Thanks Paul Sorry, I made a mistake in my measurement. I have room for a 37 inch tv Paul

  11. I currently have a i7 930 not overclocked. A gtx 460 1gb card. And 6 gb of ddr3 ram I am getting some really low fps with fsdt lax. I am guessing my video card could finally get an upgrade. Looking at eaither the 760 or 770. Would ya go with the 2 gb or 4gb card? Or does it even matter since my CPU isn't overclocked? I am pretty nervous about Overclocking. Thanks

  12. I recently upgraded to an NVIDIA GPU, previously I had an AMD one. Before, I would have Anti-Aliasing checked inside FSX (not from the CCC) and I thought it was perfect, inside the limits of MSAA, because polygon edges looked really smooth. After I placed my new NVIDIA GPU in, the internal Anti-Aliasing option was rendered useless because it just looks terrible, worse than 2x MSAA. So I decided to use NVIDIA Inspector for Anti-Aliasing, but I can't help but feel that even 8x MSAA doesn't look as good as internal Anti-Aliasing did with my AMD GPU. Same case with Microsoft Flight. With my AMD GPU, I had AntialiasingQuality=4 (equivalent to Sharpness on High) and it look…

I'm having issues seeing the full view in fsx, likely because my resolutions are wrong. While using the Wilco crj I am only seeing the captain side window on the screen and nothing more. Im using a Samsung 40" 1080p led tv. What settings do I need to set resolution to in fsx and on my TV? I have true in my fsx.cfg file.

  14. I just decided to upgrade one of my old, crappy monitors so that I would have two very similar displays, nearly the same in size & quality, and could a nice wide virtual cockpit in FSX. My primary monitor that I've had for about three years is a Hannspree 259H: 25" LCD, 16:9 widescreen, 1920 x 1080p @ 60 hz, 5000:1 contrast. (More specs here if you're interested.) Nothing incredible, but it's been a perfectly fine gaming display, and I've have no complaints whatsoever. The new second monitor I just got on sale is an Asus VN247H: 24" LCD w/ LED backlighting, 16:9 widescreen, 1920 x 1080p @ 60 hz, and 8mil:1 contrast. If anything is should be better than the fir…

I currently have a GTX 580 Classified card and it does ok with P3D, although it makes a lot of fan noise when it gets hot...... so I have a birthday coming up and my better half is looking for ideas. I had wanted to upgrade to a GTX780, which while a generation older than the current stuff seems to have become the defacto standard for flight simming (of course P3D is putting a lot more load on the GPU, and we hear that SLI is coming- just not with v2.3 due for release soon...I would no doubt need to upgrade by PSU if I has 2 GPUs running SLI....) Any suggestions as to what a good upgrade might be? Thanks, Win 8.1 64 bit, i7 running at 4.5 GHz Bruce.

Hi all, I am a RW private pilot and currently use FS9 for both GA flying/ IFR practice and the occasional for fun airliner flight, however I will be purchasing a new PC and most likely transitioning to P3D very soon. I have always used 1 monitor for flight sim but find that when trying to fly a simple traffic pattern (i.e. VFR or on a circle-to-land IFR approach), switching back and forth between front and side views on a single monitor to maintain airport / runway positional awareness and aircraft control can be difficult. At this point I do not wish to invest in TrackIR, but would rather try and solve this issue with an additional monitor or two (preferably one).…

My current system is as follows? Gigabyte gma770 am2/am2+ socket motherboard, AMD Phenom quad core 2.7 ghz CPU (not over clocked), XFX Nvidia GTX260 2gb graphics card, 8 Mbytes DDR2 2400 SDram. I seem not to be able to get satisfactory performance with VFR Genx photo scenery + treescapes or ORBX sceneries and complex aircraft - fps 12-15 and stuttering etc. I was wondering whether an upgrade of the graphics card to a GTX660 or similar would give sufficient benefits to warrant the upgrade cost? If anyone has the knowledge to help it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Stuart

Hi All: After a number of years, my old CPU died. Just installed a new motherboard and i7-4670k chip. Am running video off the i7 graphics until my new card comes. Just restored FSX from my backup and get the following error. "Flight Simulator cannot run because the version of Microsoft DirectX® Installed on your computer is incompatible. Please reinstall DirectX 9.0……" Tried renaming fsx.cfg for it to rebuild and no change. DId I forget to restore a directory? Considering the number of add-ins etc, I really hope I don't need to do a reinstall :-) BTW, this is DX11 on an Intel 4600 Graphics card with 1.7 Gb Ram available to it. The OS is Win 7 Pro with a…

Is the GTX 770 enough for dx10 or will dx10 use the 100% GTX 780 power? Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english Regards Jorge
