I'm looking for some recommendations or suggestions for a nice small factor touchscreen monitor to add to my simulator set up. My intention is to add it into my pedestal and use it to control Flight One's Garmin 750GTN unit in GA aircraft and perhaps as a ECAM display or general purpose display for external apps like FSCaptain, ASN etc when simulating commercial aircraft. I think I might be able to get away with using a USB device but, have no issue running as a stand alone monitor from a second graphic's card port. Something similar to an ipad but I don't need it to have it's own processor. Any tip, hint's or suggestions welcome. I would prefer it to be u…

I currently run my sim on a 40 inch led tv (very happy with visuals) and another small monitor for fmc, radar contact etc. I was thinking of building a home cockpit but once I started pricing out the various components I was unsure I wanted to lock myself into one type of plane.( I most frequently fly pmdg 737 however I still like to fly on occasion other airliners and some ga planes) So now I was thinking of purchasing a 65 inch led (while measuring components for 737 it appears a 65 inch would allow me to display instruments at close to real world sizes / capt windows view 31 inches wide 15.7 inches height / captain's side mip 37.4 inches wide 14 inches high) which wo…

Will be getting a new GPU sometime soon and was wondering what I should do with my old card. I currently have a GTX660 and will be getting the GTX970. Is there any kind of reason why I would want to leave the GTX660 in? I have a free slot, I could run the 2nd screen off of it, I read I could use it to run PhysX, but is there anything else, specifically bound to flight simulation, be that FSX or P3D? (And no, not selling the GTX660, best I would do is give it away to a friend...). Ty.

Hello flight simmers, I updated my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce GTX 970) to version 344.48. When I proceeded to open FSX, my complete anti-aliasing was messed up. I checked nvidia inspector and all of the settings were as they were before, yet my FSX shows loads of pixels. It worked before I updated the driver, so why shouldn't it work now? Is there any solution? Is there any procedure if have to do whenever I update GPU drivers? Thanks in advance

Time to start fooling with video drivers again. Just curious, when installing the latest nvidia drivers is it a good idea to install everything on the list that they suggest? Do I need 3d stuff etc? or should I just install the video driver alone. Any help would be appreciated....

Today I've updated to 344.11. I choose the expressinstallation, in order to retain my preferences and settings. Everything went fine. However: Before, I was using the nvidia inspector settings as defined by "Word Not Allowed". Everything was fine with the previous nvidia driver, nice and smooth anti alliasing. With the updated driver, there seems to be the problem, that none of the profile settings work anymore in FSX. The "Word Not Allowed profile" is still available within nvidia inspector and still allocated to fsx. But I seem to be unable to apply the settings to FSX: - no AA at all...! Any thoughts on that? I tried to enable AA within FSX, wh…

Long story short, restore of pc back to 7 months ago. With several nvidia drivers I have had video playback issues and finally found one that worked well with fsx and my video software. Did I make a note of the number, did I back it up ? Nope, what a twit ! Anyway my restore meant that I was on one of the older drivers I had issues with. So took the plunge and just installed nvidia's latest 340.52 for Windows7 64bit. After 10 hours of getting the PC back up to shape by restoring an image I just ran FSX and with a 2 minute check it appears to run, no dodgy graphics etc (Run over 3 screens on nvidia surround 680gtx). Didn’t do much of a test I know but wanted some sleep, …

I am suddenly experiencing an issue which I have never seen before in all my years of flying FSX. I am pretty certain it is a video display and/or driver problem as opposed to an FSX issue. At any rate, perhaps someone can help me fix this. The issue is simple. FSX loads and displays just fine. However, if I go to the menu and change anything, frame rates, turn controllers on or off, change time of day - etc., the display turns into a flickering mess, turns all black, or shows the images as big blocky squares. There is no solution except to re-start the sim. I have tried using both the latest NVidia driver and also the last one prior. The problem can be repr…

I recently purchased a new GTX980 card, 4gb of memory. I installed it, updated the driver to 344.16 and started FSX up in a known scenario and basically I see little or no increase in FPS per the FSX FPS meter. My FPS generally run in the low to mid teens in the NGX. At cruise, I'll go up to the high teens/low 20's. I have not done any tests with P3D as yet. Here are the particulars: i7-4770 MSI Gamer 7 MoBo 12gb memory 737NGX FTX Global terrain AS2012 on a separate laptop SSD's FSX is in the root folder (c:\FSX), but not on it's own drive. FSX Acceleration all service packs current I set the parameters in the FSX preferences menus and deleted FSX.cf…

Just wanted to report a happy result... ------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I had been using the note-book driver (that had the DSR feature enabled) on my GTX680, and was playing around 'large' with it, but then did a P3D 2.4 SGSS 2x/4x comparison and found that it was truly, the same visual output when using the true latest driver (344.11) for my GTX 680. I then decided to go back to the normal (344.11) desk-top driver suite and merely use the setting of SGSS 2 (which doubles my screen resolution of 1920x1200 without all the fuss of the note-book solution)...but that isn't the story here...the following is the heart of this thread..…

Installed latest Catalyst 13.9. Just after that FSX was repeatedly crashing (after loading flight) due to atiumdag.dll. So I uninstalled (first through Control Panel uninstall and then ran DriverSweeper), and tried to install the older 13.1. And then HELL BRAKE LOOSE. Windows not able to boot (blue screen), so I entered safe mode and reverted to standard vga adaptor. From that point, there was also a problem with windows sidebar program (not able to open). Tried to install 12.10 and then 12.8. Everytime I uninstalled through ContolPanel and then ran DriverSweeper in safe mode. Again the same problems (windows not booting, and when I somehow managed to get the driv…

Hello all, Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere. I currently am flying the A2A Cessna 172 Trainer. My system specs are below, and I have 3 monitors - one of them is an iSymphony 32" 1080p HDTV, and 2 Dell 20" 1600x900 monitors. I am thinking about getting another monitor and completely ditching the 32" so I could display the VC across 3 monitors, but I have no idea how to do it and if it is possible with my computer system. Can I do it, and would it be worth it? Do you think it is better to just run it on one screen? I am currently doing that, and the two 20" monitors have no use now for FSX, unlike when I used them as panels with FSPanelStudio …

Hello, at the moment I have my PC setup with the in the title named graphic card with two monitor each 1920x1080. One screen for the VC and one for 2D Popups. I want to buy a third monitor and use Nvidia Surround with a resolution with 5760x1080. Is that possible with the GTX 295 graphic card? I could only find that surround is supportet by that card but not if that resolution will work. If anybody could help this would be really great before I buy a third monitor. Thanks alot, Julian

There don't seem to be any GTX980's available from the usual sources - and no idea when some might be shipping. Now even the 970's are drying up. I decided weeks ago that I had to have one and now...no joy. Jeff Callender

I run actually my system in suround with 2 GTX580 cards. I'm considering replacing for a single GTX980. On the bechmark the 980 seems to have about double the capability of one 580. But I'm not sure what kind of improvement I can achieve by switching from 2 cards to one card. Probably much less. Any advices about people having done the same switch would be appreciated.

New Zotac GTX970. Rest of the system specs: I2500k OC'd 4.4ghz MSI mobo 16gb ram. Win7 64bit. Installed new 970 tonight. Upgrading from 660ti. Installed new card, removed old drivers, reboot installed new drivers reboot. Received the error: This graphics card does not meet minimum requirements for shader support. This product requires a geForce3/Radeon8500 class or better graphics card. FSX will now exit. I tried removing the shaders in username/local/microsoft... and erasing the fsx.cfg. CFG shows the new card. Nothing is working. I got the card for FSX but also for another sim I run. I did remove FSX and reinstall. Rebooted and then installed Acceleratio…

I run FSX on my Win 7 x64 system which has an Intel I7-3770 (not OC) at 3.4 gh on an ASUS P8X77-V Deluxe MB. I have 8mb of system memory. My current video card is a GeForce GTX 560-Ti with 1 mb of graphics memory. Given the limitations of FSX would a GTX-770 or 780 with either 2mb or 4mb of memory improve my system with the heavy load of scenery like FTX and a/c like the PMDG-777? Would my VAS usage benefit from the new card? Thanks Dom
