Hi all, Ive eventually hooked up my other monitor so im running one at its native resolution of 1920x1200 and the secondary at 1280x1024 (also its native resolution) Now i wanted to run the secondary with vatsim and the 1st with fsx in full screen mode. I have a gtx780. Now i tried it in full screen mode and get the second screen black. In windowed mode i get the second screen with my choice of window on however it stutters every few seconds in comparison than before, i dont get any screen tearing. If i go to full screen mode as before, the screen now tears. I have no vysnc entries in my cfg and nvidia inspector is set at 1/2 refresh rate. Ultimately i was…

Hi all, In planning to complete my home cockpit build, I purchased another HDTV to use as the monitor. I now have 2 HDTV's set up, one as the primary (front-facing) monitor, another for the size. I'm having some issues with the FPS dropping considerably (halfish) when I create a new Window to drag to my left monitor for the side-view. I'm averaging around 25 FPS in one mode, and it drops to about 8-10 FPS with 2 views. System Stats: Windows 8.1 i7 3.9 ghZ CPU Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 2GB 16 GB RAM Nvidia Inspector Settings: http://imgur.com/OmXkhyl My FSX.CFG has been fine-tuned for AA problems, anything worth noting would just be Textures are set high (4046). Things I…

I have a new GTX 970 and have it connected to 3 monitors via the 2 DVI and HDMI outputs. All works well in FSX. I have a new Desktop Aviator GPS that uses a VGA input. I tried connecting the DisplayPort output on the GTX970 to the VGA input (via adapter) but my system does not recognize the GPS monitor. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I currently have the stock GTX680 that came with my Alienware Aurora R4. It has worked well, but as I install more airports and buy more ORBX, it's getting choppy. I'm also getting black scenery blocks that need to re-draw. Not sure if that is VAS or a video/GPU pipeline issue. I almost bought a GTX980 last night. My questions; I'm still running FSX in DX9. GPUBoss is reporting the 980 as being much slower than my old 680 when running DX9. FSX performance might actually drop with the card upgrade? Another option would be to go DX10 in FSX. I had stability problems with that long ago and just stuck with DX9. Has DX10 become the prefered way t…

    I have a 23" LED now and wonder...How much of a FPS loss would I get if I add a second monitor to my GTX 780 (if I recall it's a 3 gig)? I have an 4770k at 4.7 ghz / 250 gig SSD / ASRock Z97.

  8. Hi Guys, I've recently installed a Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti and added 8Gb of ram to my system. I was running a Nvidia GeForce 210, and had roughly 6fps at Sydney with WoAI traffic turned up to 100%. (Pretty bad I know) So after installing my new graphics card and installing the software and extra ram, I was surprised to see that I was still only getting 6fps from the same situation. No increase in frames. I am currently running: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit AMD Phenom II x4 960T 3.0Ghz 16Gb RAM GeForce GTX 750 Ti I have done some research on the subject and haven't seem to find anyone who hasn't experienced a positive difference after upgrading graphi…

  9. Hi, I want to buy NVidia GTX 760. Do you think, that would I feel any difference between 2GB and 4GB model if I play solely in full HD 1920x1080 resolution? I have found interesting comparison of those two: http://www.legitreviews.com/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-760-4gb-video-card-review-2gb-4gb_129062/3 As you can see, the FPS drops only in 4K resolution. The memory usage was 1920×1080 – 1350MB 2560×1600 – 2060MB 3840×2160 – 3850MB However, maybe Prepar3D uses more VRAM than Far Cry 3 and BF4? Thanks for advise, Lukasz

After flying with a joystick for as long as I can remember i have decided that i want to up the realism and buy my first yoke, I have about £120 ( $180) to spend and am looking for one that i could control the rudder without using pedals ( not ready for that just yet), Ideally I would like one that has configurable buttons/ throttle and is very easy to set up ( plug and play would be lovely) Am based in the UK, can anyone recommend one?

The title says it all. If the 970/980 didnt come out last year people would still be saying the 780 is the best card for fsx. So which one is it if were talking about just fsx and not other games.

Just bought the 777 pmdg and im getting 18-20 fps anywher i go. I got a i7 4790k(with turbo boost) and a gtx 660. Do graphics cards matter when it comes to more demanding aircraft? Cuz the iris warthog also drops a couple frames, as do captain sim, and the phenom carenado. on the pmdg website they recommend 700 series. But everybody in the flight community says graphics cards dont matter past a certain point so whats the deal why would they recommend it if it doesnt matter, i dont wana buy a 780 and still be the same. Can someone please answer this

I'm considering upgrading from a 2gb GPU to a 4gb GPU to take advantage of the potential for P3D to off-load on to the GPU from the CPU. Just wondering if anyone has upgraded and noticed any significant improvement in performance vs the $400 cost ??

Hey guys, would like to hear some opinions about this. Current setup: i5 2500k OC'd to just a modest 4.2Ghz Radeon HD6770 8gb 1600 RAM I got a deal on a Corsair TX550M PSU that is coming soon, my current one is aging and I found out wasn't amazing in the first place. After that, I was considering upgrading my GPU to an R9 270X, mainly because the price range for dropped recently to ~$100-125 (on ebay and amazon). I am aware that FSX sees more stability with Nvidia cards, but I also want to play other games such as Battlefield 3 and 4. I don't have much of a reference point other than statistics right now, but the 270X beats out my 6770 by roughly 130% i…

  18. First let me describe my system I7-4790k 4.5ghz MSI gaming 7 Mobo 8Gb ram at 1866Mhz 2, 1TB HDD's MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G My old card was MSI GTX 770 4GB Gaming In FSX, I gained about 7 FPS and extreme smoothness. In the PMDG 777's VC at Flight Beam's KIAD, In the middle of a major thunderstorm, using Rex clouds, and almost every slider full I was getting 35-38 FPS the whole time even during takeoff and the climb through the clouds once I got to cruise they were through the roof like as in over 60FPS. I didn't expect to really gain anything in FSX being that it is almost completely CPU limited but this surprise is quite nice. In P3DV2, I'm very …

  19. Hi! As the title states I want to use one monitor to power FSX in fullscreen mode, while having the second one for other stuff like charts, weather program etc. The problem is that whenever I force FSX to run in fullscreen mode, everything goes black, including the second monitor. I have set the biggest monitor to my primary display but still no luck. FSX in windowed mode looks silly and doesnt work with DSR. I have tried googleing it, but I only find recommendations of software which I cant get to work, while many are stating that you simply cant do this. FSX needs to be run in windowed mode. Any workaround for this? And for some reason, when I force FSX…

Good day all, I am about to purchase a new GTX card and I am hesitating between the 980 and 970. the price difference almost ~$200! So which one of these two will give me the best result especially with DX10 enabled and DX10 fixer. also which brand would be the best, EVGA, MSI, ASUS, Gygbyte? I am only flying with FSX, I might try P3D once PMDG T777 available there. I also play BF4 a lot. Best regards, Adel

I have an i970 3.2GHz based system with an ATI 5850 video card. This of course is an older system but FSX works well enough for me, I get about 14 to 18 FPS with the PMDG 737. I was given a Nvidia GTX750 1GB video card for Christmas (not the Ti version). Will this low end card provide any performance benefit over what I have already, or should I stick it on eBay :-)

  23. Hi all, I'm going to be setting up a 3 monitor display for P3D, and wondered what peoples thoughts are on either adding an extra GTX480 card to the existing one, or just replacing for a GTX970/80. Is there a performance benefit having 1x 9 series compared to 2x480s? Also, any other parts of my system you think should be upgraded (see set-up in signature) Any thoughts welcome to a relative beginner. Cheers, Rob.

I have a very old machine that was purchased in 2007. It has and Intel Q6600 and an old gt8800 ultra inside it. I really want to upgrade to get better frames per second in FSX but I am currently stuck on a budget until later this year. I don't know if I should upgrade my graphics card just now to a 750ti or wait until later this year when my budget will rise and get a new processor, motherboard and RAM alongside the graphics card?
