  1. Hi everyone, I think this is probably the first time I've actually posted on the avsim forums, despite having been a member for several years! Anyway, I'm really hoping that someone may be able to help with some ideas, or even better a solution to my problem, because it's driving me mad! Basically, in the last few days I've suddenly started having a problem with FSX that I've never had before - when I switch between full screen and windowed mode, or even when I minimise FSX and then open up the window again, or return to the main window after going into a menu item like Aircraft settings etc, I'm getting a variety of weird graphics glitches. The graphics od…

G-sync has been out for some time now and a few compatible monitors have been released, and AMD's Freesync has just seen the light as well. Regarding Nvidias g-sync, I understand that the following are required to make it work: - game must run true fullscreen (I guess P3D is a no no) - game must set Vsync On "internally" (i.e. NOT in NV control panel or Inspector) Regarding X-plane, I have no idea. The technology sounds amazing but is it for us? If you have first hand experience, please let us know!

Hello, Last weekend, I installed my new evga GTX-980, replacing an GTX670 in the process. At the same time I did an upgrade to the latest Nvidia driver version 347.88. That seemed to work alright, not an increase in framerate but both FSX and P3D ran more smoothly than ever before. But for the second time now, I have run into trouble. After about an hour into the sim, my screen turns first solid grey for about 5 seconds and then solid black. The sim itself does NOT crash at all when the screen is grey/black. I ruled out lack of virtual memory because when it happens I still have 1.5 Gb available memory, I also ruled out heath cause the card runs at aprox. 45 de…

  4. I am hoping someone can provide me feedback on a Samsung 34 inch curved screen LED-Lit Monitor 21:9 wide aspect ratio....With Ultra HD 3440 x 1440. I am looking to drive with a single Nvidia GSX980 Video card using HDMI 2. I am looking to twice the screen real-estate as compared to my Dell 27inch monitor. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi, I was wondering if any of you has attempted to play fsx(vanilla albeit) with the sole support of a intel hd 4600 processor. The 3DMark places it just above a gtx295, and although aples to apples and dx9s to dx9s, it's something to wonder about. Follow up question in case someone has, Did you happen to test multimonitor(aka collage ) support? Is it even compatible?

  6. Hey guys, I put this question in another post but not sure how often folks dig back into them, so I'm starting a new one since I searched the forum and didn't see any direct matches to my question. What about a jump from a 660 to a 970/980? I'm running with a 4790k and 8gb of 1600 memory. Running both P3d 2.5 and FSX:SE. Want to pull the trigger, but drowning in all the number games.....one would logically "assume" that a 6xx was weaker than a 7xx, which would be weaker than a 9xx. But reading up on the technology...apparently the middle number is VERY significant, as it "seems" that a 780 could be more powerful than a 960/70? My thinks the …

32" led TV's are readily available for $200-$300 these days and with a removed bezel next to each other they look like a good option. Would there be a reason why it would be better to use more expensive monitors instead?

  8. Background - I have a fairly decent PC based around an i7 2700K CPU at 4.7GHz which I use for FSX in DX10 mode combined with Steve's DX10 Fixer which I must say I am really thankful for as it makes FSX so much better visually whilst eliminating the inherent bugs in vanilla FSX. I have been using a GTX680 for the past couple of years which I overclocked and fitted a custom cooler to (Prolimatech MK-26). Recently I have been hankering after a graphics card upgrade but had a limited budget and was unsure as to whether I would reap much in the way of rewards within FSX (the main reason for the upgrade). I was looking at the GTX970 which was at the top end of my budget but the…

Just in case anyone is interested (I know I'll get one as soon as possible for the HDMI 2.0 support). http://www.legitreviews.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-x-12gb-video-card-overview_159741 My other source indicates this is pretty accurate release date, maybe even a tad earlier -- so expect a new set of nVidia drivers to come out very soon also. Cheers, Rob. EDIT: I will have 2 Titan Blacks up for sale ($500 each if anyone is interested PM me) - pending release/availability of Titan X.

Focus is Titan X support, not much in the release highlights -- BattleField hardline? No idea what that is, assume another 3D shooter? Hoping nVidia didn't break anything with P3D again. Cheers, Rob.

I have a "R9 270x" and want to go further... I'm thinking about buying a GTX 780 ti... What do you think? Is it worth or should I wait for a newer GPU that would perform better with the future Prepar3d 64 bits? Thanks,

I just installed my very-first-ever nVidea GPU (GTX 970). Great performance but no anti-aliasing using nVidia Instector. None. Nada. Zero. Zilch. So.....after many hours of Google consultation I learned that.... ...when using Nvidia Inspector to set the AA the item called "Antialiasing - Behavior Flags" must be set to "None". This gives full control of AA to the drivers. Problem solved.... Doug I think I'm getting too old for this stuff.....I wish my 15 year old granddaughter lived closer. She'd have this stuff done in 5 minutes.....CRS is a terrible disease.....

My current system is an i5 4690 @3.5 stock, 8GB of RAM and an old GTX 550ti, FS9.1 and windows 7x64. I would like to upgrade the card to a GTX 970. At the moment I am getting very high FPS until I hit heavy cloud and then they drop to between 19 and 24fps. Will the GTX970 be worth it ? Will anything be bottlenekking my system ? Please don't recommend the 980 as that is out of my budget!!!! Thanks Trevor

I am thinking of getting Prepar3d. My card now is a GTX 670 2gb. Thinking of getting a GTX 970 4gb. Would the 670 work ok for now?

  20. Hello, I need help with my 3 monitor setup. Installed new GTX960 card and configured Nvidia surround. Started FSX and loaded PMDG 737NGX and got the following: Spinning mouse cursor that will not go away. Popup 2D panels are quite large. Once you resize and open again the same thing happens. Not sure if PMDG has a panel.cfg file that may solve this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers George

Hi, I need an advice regarding my speaker, sub woofer and printer placement. I have an Altec Lancing 2.1 Speakers with a sub woofer. I am using an Acer 19" LCD Monitor. Currently I have kept the Speakers and the sub woofers below my APC UPS (as there are frequent fluctuations in power supply). I recenly upgrading to Core i7 (my old system was a Core 2 Duo, I have only upgraded the CPU rest of the parts I have retained of my old system), I am planning to keep my speakers next to the LCD Monitor, but I will keep the Sub woofer next to the APC UPS. In such placement, will the speakers harm my LCD Monitor and will the APC UPS harm the sub woofer in any way or should I cont…

  22. I have had FSX installed on my system for some time and I am trying to run multiple display monitors. I am running 2 x GTX 570 Video Cards and have attempted Surround Vision and Multiple Screen settings without much success. Therefore I thought I might try using a Matrox Triplehead2Go box as a last measure. However I have seen that there maybe some problems doing this with FSX for some reasons and wondered whether anyone who has used Matrox boxes could give some feedback prior to outlaying $500 for a unit and which unit is the best. My configuration is: Processor: Intel Core i7-3930K CPU @ 3.2Hz 6 x Core DirectX 10 RAM: 24.0 GB HD x 2: 1x 500 GB - 1 x 2000 GB Gr…

I would welcome some advice on upgrading my system. I currently have a i5 2500k CPU with a 700 mhertz Graphics card (512 RAM), and 8 Gigs (2 x 4) of generic RAM. What can I do on a budget to improve this? Will I see much improvement by upgrading RAM and video card. Yes, I know that CPU is king with FSX, but I am thinking that my vid card and Ram are still holding my system back, and that I should be able to get more out of my i5 than low 20s FPS. Currently contemplating replacing RAM with one or two 8GB sticks, and adding a GTX 750 with 2GB. Does this sound reasonable, or should I put my money elsewhere? Have about $300 budgeted for upgrades. I do not use thi…

Hi Guys, A friend of mine approached me and offered me fairly good money for my Asus GTX780. Of course my eyes light up and I started thinking upgrade upgrade ! I looked at the 970, I know there are some memory issues above 3.5 GB usage but to be honest with you I haven't seen even 2BG usage on my GTX 780 with FSX DX10 or P3D 2.5 Just wondering if anyone has done the same upgrade, basically I would love to know if it is worth dropping the extra money for the GTX 970 or would it be better to wait until the next generation of cards come out. That is probably the million dollar question lol Love to hear your thoughts/experiences Happy Flying Richa…

I was testing out recording at 3840 x 2160 using ShadowPlay (driver v344.48) as nVidia indicated this is now "fixed" and will support 4K with bit rates up to 130 Mbps. My ShadowPlay options don't list 2160p (only show 720p, 1080p, 1440p) but do list "in game" ... so set to "in game" and 30 fps ... there is no option for 130 Mbps only 50 Mbps so not sure what nVidia are describing here. Anyway, I proceed to capture a flight at what should be 3840 x 2160. Then I bring up the video for playback and it's only 2560 x 1440 ?? I'm using HDMI v1.4 port which does support 4K at 30Hz RGB (30 fps) which is a perfect match for my setup ... but ShadowPlay doesn't seem to wor…
