After years of happily simming with a short throw projector Im changing to a TV display. The main reason being Im retired and have a lot of daytime that I cant fully use because the projector needs a darker room for optimum display and I dont fancy sitting in a dark room in the middle of the day The TLC Chinese brand is heavily promoted here in Thailand and after a fair bit of research it turns out the reviews are quite good for its price range (around $600) Just to be safe I want to run the specs here to see if there is anything that screams out dont buy this thing for FSX Any input or advice is welcome. The specs tab is in the link http://www.tclusa.com/c…

  2. Hello guys, i did a fresh install of my FSX due to some problems i was having after thousands of add-ons installed. I decided to start everything again and installed just the essential. The problem is i'm having some troubles with using the Nvidia Inspector. I used it before and applied the same configuration this time but the anisotropic filtering seems to not be working. i've attached two images, one of the FSX running and other of the Inspector configs to see if someone identifies the error.

I have just set up 3x24" monitors using the graphics card GTX780. Surround installed correctly but I cannot zoom out far enough using "-" to get enough of the cockpit showing . The cockpit is spread over the three monitors and I cannot get it out far enough to mainly show in the centre monitor with scenery showing on the left and right monitors. How do the simmers get this right as is often seen on u tube videos? Hnery

  4. Hi Guys, Strange FS9 issue after changing GPUs. I'm still using Windows XP SP3 and this is the 3rd card i have installed on my system, having uninstalled the previous ones before installing the new GPU. Everything working fine except the A/C textures wich have a strange behaviour as depicted below! For T/S purposes i even re-installed some of the a/c textures but it's the same. Note that i am using NVIDIA Inspector correctly setup; have tried many different older drivers all to the same effect and now i have the most current one. Notice the shift in texture on the left outboard engine! The change is smooth much like the changes in shading. …

  5. Alienware X51 was my first gaming PC I have ever owned and I did not understand anything about building PCs. Anyway, running FSX is a bit of an issue considering I have the I7 3770 not overclocked and GTX 660. I have read people managing to upgrade the X51 with GTX 670s and one case a GTX 700 series I think. So what I want to know: Can I replace the I7 3770 with I7 3770K and add a coolant, and also upgrade the graphics card to GTX 670 or GTX 700 series or even higher seroe which would all fight. And what supplies would I need with your recommend upgrades, OR build my own PC (Only if the upgrade options aren't available/or they will not make much difference. Thanks

  7. Unfortunately the link of this TV news is in french. Here is a summary: 3 researchers located in Charleroi, Belgium, invented a way to add 2 additional screens to a notebook. Next week they will attempt to collect 300,000 euros through crowdfunding in order to start implementing the project. Actually a prototype is running in shop. http://www.rtl.be/info/regions/hainaut/trois-carolos-inventent-un-appareil-permettant-de-demultiplier-l-ecran-de-votre-ordinateur-video--735838.aspx I hope that the video in the above link does in countries outside of Belgium. 8. I'm looking to upgrade my monitor and have always been bothered by how hard it is to see airports, on a 24" monitor. I seem to recall when flying Cessnas years ago that the runway looked bigger on downwind in real life during a curcuit. So, can the size of the real outside world be realistically reproduced? If so, what size montior would it require?

  9. I had my PC setup with 3D vision along with the Saitek pro flight yoke, pedals, multipanel, switch panel, two instrument panels and radio panel. Flight planner on another PC tracking my flight. It all worked beautifully with fsx retail deluxe version cd. All the drivers and software were on an ssd along with win7 as a primary boot disk. Then after a couple of months of using another ssd for work I reconnected the fsx ssd withnto do some flying and for no apparent reason the Nvidia usb 3d emitter no longer is recognised resulting in fsx without Nvidia 3d. I reinstalled the latest Nvidia driver but still no joy. If I disconnect the pro flight yoke, 3d vision works ok but …

I am considering buying an LG Ultrawide monitor (34UC97 or 34UM95, most likely). While I'd love to go for the curved (UC) version, I have to take into account some productivity work (Photography) as well, where the curved edge might hinder me in seeing straight lines, well, straight. I'm also questioning whether or not to replace my GPU setup with a new card. At the moment, I'm running two GTX 580s in SLI, which is still a rather powerful setup for 1080p, but I'm wondering whether they'll be able to drive the new monitors. I'm considering swapping them out for a single GPU, most likely a GTX 970 (I'm aware of the 3.5GB issues, they wouldn't affect me too much) or a s…

Check it out, hot off the press. At $650 and with nearly the same level of performance as the Titan X, it could be considered a bargain if so inclined (though one that only has 6GB VRAM).

I've finally reached a point where I can afford myself a computer and 3 monitor setup on my desk for my flight simulation and race simulation hobby, of which I've had less time with over the years. I want to get back into it, and realized I no longer need a tripleheadtogo device because video cards can manage it themselves now. I don't know what I don't know yet, so I'm beginning my research in this forum to break the ice. For the last few years I've been running a 27" AOD LED monitor that I very much like, and would love 3 of these or similar lined up 3 across. I really hate to go lower that 27 inches but Ive read a lot about people claiming 24 is the way to go. …

Hello all, I working on finishing my system and am trying to decide on the GPU. I'm building it mostly for FSX and P3D and possibly for X-Plane. My current specs are: Intel 4790K @ 4.4GHz Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16GB 2133MHz Asus Maximus VII Hero I'm currently running FSX using the integrated graphics (Intel 4600) am getting pretty good performance (30fps locked in most situations) with the exception of heavy cloud cover. I am trying to decide on the GPU and I'm looking at EVGA's version of the GTX970 and 980. I've done a bit of spreadsheeting and came up with the following: http://s886.photobucket.com/user/chrismagnus/media/gtx970-980_zpsa6b12eb8.png…

Quick question before I pull the trigger I currently have a EVGA 780ti graphic card and have found somewhere that has refurbed EVGA 780ti for sale the card is a slightly different model to mine but by the same manufacturer ie EVGA if I go ahead and buy am I liable to run into any problems, or must they be exactly same model and manufacturer or is it ok to have 2 cards that are the same model group ie 780ti but may have slightly different clock speeds Thanks Edit:.. or should I bite the bullet and buy a single 980ti would a dual sli 780ti perform better than a single 980ti? I'm currently only running a single monitor but going to 2 within a year or so!

  17. Hi everyone, So I was ready to purchase the Titan X SC 12gig card today, and the store actually had the EVGA980ti in stock.. I grabbed it. To be honest, It's not blowing me away as I thought it would. I installed that latest WHQL driver... 353.06.. With my GTX670 4 gig card in X-plane 10 at KLGA from derwizecki I was lucky to get 17-20fps using add on products( the B1900 from Carenado) With the new card, not much better unless I checked Threaded optimization in the global setup, then I get 25-27fps. Otherwise all my settings are as exact as before with my GTX670. I am running Windows7, 16gigs ram, 800 watt power supply at 4.4ghz, standard bios overclock. Shouldn't I …

  18. Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this but I already asked in the drivers forum and haven't received a response yet. I noticed some serious performance issues with any Nvidia driver that goes beyond 347.52. My fps went from 20-30 (before driver update) to 12-15 and it lags horribly. I noticed this only when using PMDG aircraft and I am running FSX non SE with a triple screen setup in DX10. Further setup information: Win7 64bit, i7 4770k 4,3GHz, GTX770 Phantom 4GB, 500GB SSD, 8GB RAM I am wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

Hi fellow simmers, I am wondering who will contemplate to buy one of the new AMD cards. There is the R9 390X already on the market and while it is for sure not the fastest it has 8GB of memory. Then, next Wednesday will be the launch of the Fury X which might be real fast even if it is limited to 4GB of memory. Would be interesting to see what people think about these cards for both Prepar3D and X-Plane. For example, in X-Plane I am currently almost fully maxing out the 4 (3.5) GB of memory, according to GPU-z. In Prepar3D the average memory use is only around 3GB in complex sceneries. 8GB sounds promising for flight simming. Looking forward to input over the…

Hello, Why is it when I am flying in full screen mode, the resolution drops? It doesn't matter what resolution setting I have in FSX, the quality that I have set (1920x1080x32) drops to what looks like a 1024x768 or similar. But when operating in windowed mode the resolution is accurate. Is it possible to operate one monitor in full screen mode, while the other be used for things like charts, facebook, internet, etc? Cause right now the only way I can do that is in windowed mode. If so can someone help me? Thanks

Then I saw this for a spec listing HDMI 1.4a Ugh ... why oh why would AMD do this for a 4K card? Cheers, Rob.

  23. Hi all, I’m currently trying to setup and tune my config with two GTX770 focus on SGSAA. I’m running nvidia driver version 352.86 and encountered visual artefacts (see below screen shots). Does forum users of the 353.06 nvidia drivers notice less (or no more) artefact or does the situation hasn’t change ? Have nice flights SLI or not ;-)

  24. Hi everyone, So I have a Asus gtx670 4GB card now. Not real happy with these days, especially in Xplane10. I know FSX won't care too much with my i3770K @4.4ghz, but Xplane should be much better. I wanted the new gxt980ti, but it is all but gone everywhere, and the few outlets online that have it online just raised the darn price by 200.00 since yesterday!!.... ( I rather purchase at a store where I can return it without hassle anyway) I was also thinking of the gxt970 4gig card, but I don't see spending 349.00 for just a little improvement, I figured if I get the titan X12gig card, all is done. I don't think it gets much better than that. Your thoughts would be apprec…

  25. Hello everyone I know that FSX is CPU intensive which is why desktops are highly recommended. But, I really prefer laptops due to their easy transportation capabilities and spacewise. I am interested in two laptops. I intend to run PMDG 777 and 737. http://www.amazon.com/GL551JW-DS71-15-6-Inch-GeForce-Discrete-Graphics/dp/B00T7XRH2A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434478111&sr=8-1&keywords=asus++ROG+laptop http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QHD8N6C?psc=1 The only major difference is the GPU. The first one has GTX 960M (which is cheaper) and the second has a GTX 970M. Anyone have an idea if the difference of these graphic cards will have a noticeable dif…
