Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etc

I'm currently running P3D and X-Plane. My desktop is an I7-2600K@ 4.6GHZ, EVGA GTX770 4 GB, and 8 GB ram. I'm really interested in what might help for P3D. I'm going to be retiring soon (fixed income and all) so I don't want to spend a boatload of money by upgrading the CPU and motherboard. Would I get more bang for my buck by going from the GTX770 to the GTX970, or might I see a better performance jump by putting P3D on a SSD drive. It's currently running on a 7200 rpm mechanical drive. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been reading some post here on VC's.......I need some ideas. I'm using 1- 28" monitor running FS9.1. I do have lots of scenery upgrades and lots of add ons. My question is I'm not ready to upgrade to a new machine yet but will in a few years. My card fan is out so I need to replace. Do I need the 4GB since I'm only using 1 monitor or would 2GB work. Thinking abut GTX's 750's or so I know about the 980's do I really need it for FS9? Thanks. Again I'm just needing a good card. I recently upgraded from a GTX 730 to GTX 750ti, the card worked fine for a couple of hours and then the blue screen of death appeared. I had to install windows 8.1 because 7 is no longer for sale. I updated my bios, but when I install either card windows crashes at the start up. I've searched and searched the net and cannot find an answer at all, so I thought I would try here to see if anyone might have any suggestions. Greetings, I recently started to experience FSX crashes with the A2A C182. It's been literally a couple of years since I attempted to update my NV GTX 680 drivers. I dread trying to update video card drivers with a Win 7/64 three monitor setup. When I upgrade I note the NV Surround setup is overridden and I cannot figure out the previous settings without using the System Restore feature and thereby returning to the old GTX 680 driver. Is there a way to update the card drivers without changing the settings? Is it better just to avoid driver updates. Many thanks / Les Parson

I have a new Samsung 4K monitor, and while I enjoy the detail image, the text size when using FSX is very small resulting in my squinting to read it---not good! Does anyone know how to adjust it to make it bigger? Thanks, JOHN

Hi, I have a EVAG 980 GPU (not overclocked) in my system at the moment, along with X99 M/B, 5820 chip (o/c to 4.3) and 16 meg DDR4 Memory. I am thinking of migrating to P3D from FSX-SE, so would P3D take advantage of another 980 in SLI, or would a single 980 ti be better. Would also use the cards for other Sims and games. Hi is anyone using a samsung monitor? I'm using this s34e790c! But its all washed out and hoping if someone can point me in the right direction or can help to restore a good colour profile? I've read through a review on some basic settings. but my problem is when using samsungs colour profile and adding it to colour profile it hs no effect? Either does nvidia control panel. Only way i can change its colour is through the monitor itself on the back?

Hi Guys, I happend to catch a youtube presentation on how to tweak the monitor's refresh rate and got interestedto try but since im using a triple monitor setup (Nvidia Surround gaming), im unable to change the refresh rate. Does anyone out there have changed the refresh rate on a similiar setup...please share how you managed to accomplish that please. Regards

Ive spent the last 2 weeks trouble shooting and closely monitoring my GPU GTX 560TI in GPU-Z as its been maxing out at 99% pretty much non stop especially with PMDG and ORBX and in DCS and today I stumbled across a thread over at DCS that suggests to go into Nvidea control panel and then to manage 3d settings and switch multiple display performance mode to "single display performance mode" and boom a 30-40% drop in my GPU load ! Im really excited about that. Just thought it may be worth passing on in case it helps anyone else

Hi everyone. I just had my laptop replaced under warranty and got lenovo y50-70 with GTX 960M card. I moved my fsx-se install to the new machine BUT when NVI is run I can't change values in the MS FSX profile see picture. If I change eg frame limit to 30 fps or AA flags behavior and hit apply the profile restores itself to stock. Also values that are normally changeable under FSX are greyed. Old laptop used 755 and NVI worked like charm. Seed current info about card and drivers: What do I miss?

Hi. I am using NI and want to limit my framerates to 30 in order to use VSync. There are 3 combinations that will do this, but I'm not sure which one to use. 1. Set NI Frame Rate Limiter to 30 and FSX limiter also to 30. 2. Set NI Frame Rate Limiter to 30 and FSX to unlimited 3.Set NI Frame Rate Limiter to OFF and and FSX limiter to 30. I'm guessing No. 3 since NI FSX profile has it that way, but not sure. Please advise which way is considered the best of these 3. Thanks, Jeff

I am wondering what is the best resolution for p3d, that is all I use my computer for so all these so called gaming monitors would be total overkill for me I would think. I rather like the sound of the Samsung S32D850 32" WQHD VA/IPS 5MS which is 2560 x 1440 but it is rather expensive but I could just manage it. I was thinking (dreaming really) of the Samsung curved 34 inch but that is really out of reach for me. Any thoughts on the subject would be welcome and thank you. I am using a EVGA GTX 970 4gb

Hi. I just installed a 980 Ti card and new 50" 4K monitor. Everything seems to be working great (Nvidia and Windows show 4K @ 60Hz., great framerates) and in my FSX Display Settings the hardware shows GeForce 980 Ti and resolution at 3840 x 2160. But, when I check my .cfg file the hardware is still shown as GeForce 670 and mode as 1920 x 1200 which were my previous specs. Does anyone know why these entries haven't changed after my upgrade? I've read that Nvidia settings override the .cfg settings and that definitely looks to be the case unless I'm not really seeing the 4K, but just think I am. Don't think so. Thanks for any comments. I removed my Titan Blacks from my now old PC into my new PC ... so I picked up a 970 GTX 4GB since it has HDMI 2.0 output ... and to my pleasure it was producing 60Hz refresh at 3840 x 2160. Being the type that doesn't believe what I see ... I fired up Diablo III to make sure I was indeed getting a 60Hz at 3840 x 2160. Why Diablo III you ask, well for several reason ... 1. DX11 2. Has Vsync support 3. I can set maximum background and foreground frame rate limiters 4. I can set it to run full screen mode or window mode In other words it's the perfect test application. Hello all, I have 3 monitors using AMD and CCC. I would like to use the center monitor as the flight screen with one, possibly two of the other monitors for charts, internet, or whatever. Does anyone know how I can do this as everything I try I get flight sim on all three? Thanks Angelo

I have recently upgraded my graphics card to a GTX 970. Although I've been keeping up to date with the drivers, I have noticed on the NVIDIA support forums quite a lot of criticism of the latest drivers with reports of poorer performance and problems with certain browsers compared to previous versions. For those of you with a 970 card, is there a particular version of the drivers which seems to work better with FSX or should I just continue to update to the latest?

I am considering a new build for FSX. My question is: Is the GTX 980TI worth the extra $250, as compared to the GTX 980 when it comes to FSX? Since FSX is mainly CPU dependent do I really need the extras of the "TI"? Your opinions please Pete S.

Hi. I have a single EVGA 970 FTW (CPU at 4.4GHz.) and I am considering getting a 32-40" 4K monitor. I was wondering how well this card will handle 4k. I will be using it primarily with MS FSX. Will it perform well or am I dreaming and should go another route on the monitor? Thanks. Jeff

Installed, latest Catalyst version (15.7), I can not change the level of antialiasing, the options appear but can not be changed. I'm using Windows 7 64. Catalyst previous versions do not have the problem. Does anyone know of any solutions? João Alfredo

Hello everyone, I have recently gotten IGPU multi monitor to work, so I have three screens running off my Nvidia GTX 750. I have two other screens running off of the integrated graphics. All the displays work in harmony, with me able to drag screens like chrome from the gpu screens to the integrated screens without a problem. When I try to do the same to fsx however, try to undock a panel and move it to the integrated screens both in windowed and full screen mode, the sim has a fatal error and crashes. How do if fix this?
