I'm not starting this topic at the Hardware Forum as nature of the question is rather commercial than technical. I have i7-2700k (4.4 OC-ed), 2xRaptors, GTX780 and 8GB RAM and it has worked very nicely since April 2012. As P3D is getting more demanding in terms of video, I'm planning to upgrade for 980Ti very soon (hope my Z77 MB is supporting it). However, I'm questioning myself whether it's good idea to start with new, 6700k-based system. My understanding is that even if successfully overclock it to 4.4-4.6, there will be no superiority over my current system. So, the question is money. There are two alternatives. Alternative One: to buy just GTX980Ti, pay $…

I have an issue these days and really frustrated coz my fsx cannot even start after I press the button as usual. It load first of all with the start screen and then immediate disappear. I don't know whether it is a CTD/ fatal error issue or not.It has no report from the event viewer. The above problem starts when I upgrade my GPU from GTX 560 to GTX 970. PC spec i7-2600 MSI GTX970 16GB RAM 550W 1TB HHD FSX Gold edition Nvidia driver 355.98 Plz help me! Thx Anson

Has anyone had success using a 2nd monitor with FSX to display 2D panels after updating to Windows 10 with associated Nvidia driver and DirectX 12? I can't move the 2D panels to the 2nd monitor while using the WideViewAspect=True virtual cockpit view on the primary display in the monitor's native resolution. This worked fine with Windows 7 and associated Nvidia driver and DirectX 11. I can only use a 2nd monitor with FSX if I change the resolution resulting in a reduced view of the cockpit stretched out across the primary monitor with WxH out of proportion.

Im going to buy myself a Gtx 980-ti. I thought it was going to be a simple enough thing to do, but there seems to be several different choices. I have an i73930k 3.2 turbos to 3.8. I take it i have enough to run this card ?? Hey Guys - I use FSX want to go to a three monitor setup with a 4790K overclocked to 4.5Ghz. What is the minimum videocard for such a setup to get good frame-rates without significant loss? Nvidia 960, 970, 980, or Titan X. I understand that FSX is primarily CPU bound and don't want to get too big of a card for the job. Thanks, RH

Hi everyone, well after a long time being away from flight sim world due to an unplanned "restructuring" in my personal life (4years I believe), I am now looking at getting back into it...and have a computer on its way as we speak!!!!!! YAY!!!! Anyways, due to the restructuring I speak of, I pretty much handed over everything I've owned which included my computer(a personal choice, kids in the mix so had to look out for what was best for them and not me) well as stated above I have a system coming in the mail, should be here by the end of the week. The system I bought is an Intel I5 650 3.2ghz with 8gigs of ram(I know old technology, but coming from what I had as…

Dear all, Does anyone uses the external FPS limiter for the Radeon graphics card on the Windows 10 operating system? If so could you please share your experience with the rest of the community about setting it up in Windows 10 and a like. The reason I'm asking this is that before Windows 10 I could use the software Radeon_external_FPS_limiter (found it on Boyote tweaking site), but since Windows 10 the mentioned software doesn't work. Also is there some other similar software that could work on Windows 10? Thank you all in advance for the helpful tips and suggestions. Safe simming Marko

Hi Guys, I just went from two 42" HDTV's to an Optima EH200ST Projector. Although the projector looks nice during daytime flights, night flights look terrible. So I decided to abandon the projector idea, I'll use the projector for football. Looking for info from individuals that are using a 4K UHDTV with Prepar3D 2.5. I'd like to get an 85" 4K UHDTV, (the one shown below) that would be used with three Titan X's and a 4790K setup. http://www.eastcoasttvs.com/Samsung-LED-HDTV-p/un85ju7100.htm Thanks

I have bought a new PC for FS9/FSX but am using the same two (HannsG) monitors as before. I use the main, 28" one for the sim and the smaller 24" one for FSNavigator andother apps.. I notice that, when I am running FS9/FSX in full screen+windowed mode or in full screen mode, the 2nd. monitor flickers - or more exactly, has 'waves' travelling down it. It's not steady. If I close, minimise or put FS into a small window in the centre of the screen (Monitor 1) the 'waves' stop. Have I not got things set up corectly? How can I fix this please? I have both screens at their native resolutions. The refresh rates are not changeable. I have the nVidia Control Panel (and als…

Would anyone like to hazard a guess when we'll be seeing GTX950 cards and perhaps a price drop on GTX750 and GTX750Ti cards, similar to what we saw with GTX770/780/780Ti when the first GTX9## cards were released recently? I'm in need of graphics cards for slave machines in a multi display setup and have been looking at mostly the GTX750Ti but I could really do with a price drop!

Folks, After years of running FSX I have hit an issue I cannot resolve. This issue now effects all platforms namely, FSX would run smooth as glass with pay ware airports , aircraft and weather.... for the last few months though I have started noticing lagging juddering on the taxi, turns and panning... panning seems slow and the edge of the cockpit frames work seems to give the impression that as you pan each line is being drawn although fps is at 30? So pulled off Win 7 clean install Win 10 did not help same issue tried FSX/ SE same issue tried P3D same issue. Tried all through NI but no difference and P3D just ignores NI set at 30 half synch and set …

Hy everyone. I recently find out that in order to achieve the best results in terms of how smooth the simulator is I have to install some external fps limiter. This is especially when using Radeon graphic card. So I installed the app, configured fps limit externaly to 30 fps, than in the sim itself configured internal fps limiter to unlimited. When I start flight it simply want apply that 30 fps limit instead it runs freely varying considerably depending on the aircraft I fly. My question is why is this happening and does I missed something in the configuration and installation process? Regards Marko Lisica

I have Samsung SyncMaster BX2335 LED - LED monitor - 23" and GTX970 video card. I tried to change the refresh rate in NVIDIA Control panel to 30Hz but when I press Test button the screen went black and the box with a message appeared:"Not optimum mode. Recommended Mode 1920x1080 60Hz". I searched Google if there's a way to disable or override that and didn't find anything. Maybe my monitor just isn't capable of running that but the message is a bit ambiguous.. not optimum.. ok so what if it's not optimum, why doesn't it say something along the lines that it's not possible? So is it? I know that in 4K monitors 30Hz is a possibility but people with "normal" monitors also sa…

I have done a fair bit of searching and in the forums and on-line and have yet to come to a complete answer with regards to how you can manually change the P3D output FOV to be what you should see based on the size of your monitor and the distance you sit from it. I use DCS world and can adjust these in the config file after doing a little math to find out what it should be and I love the perception and sensation of speed. I have also use this approach in iRacing with similar results. The part I like about it is that it really helps develop stick and rudder skills and is probably critical to flying helicopters. The closest I have come across is some discussion as t…

Hi, I would like some input as to the preferred card for P3d. I am looking at a Evga980ti classy. or asus strix 980ti, looks like they are pretty close on the specs although the strix has some better numbers & less expensive. I am running a 4970k oc at 4.6 along with 32g of 2100 mhz ram, current card is Evga 780sc (6g ram). Thanks for any help Ron

I asked in the hardware>monitor section but got zero replies. A question about TVs as a P3D monitor. I take it modern LED TVs have a "fast enough" response time for sim display? I'm a retired guy so a $1500 TV is out of the question for gaming. But after saying that I see some brand name 32" to 40" TVs at great sale prices. What specs on a TV am I looking for as a P3D monitor? Right now I am using a nVidia 680 but am looking at a 970. Thanks Ken

I've had a 24" glossy monitor for the past seven years, and it's been horrible for night flying. I'm going matte this time, and would appreciate any suggestions on what's most important in choosing a monitor for night flying purposes. All I know at present is backlight bleed is bad, and a good contrast ratio is necessary. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, I have not been paying attention to things lately, but I have a few days off and I'd like to get some FSX flying/tuning time in. I have a MSI GTX 980 4G and I am thinking about upgrading drivers (or downgrading if that is the better option). I was never really thrilled with my current ones (347.09) - no major issues but I felt like I could do better. Anyway, I am using FSX Acceleration with DX9, typical settings from Nick and no SLI. Are there better drivers for my system? Thanks!

Hello Apologies if i have posted in the wrong forum, please feel free to move my post I have started making videos of my flight experiences which really am enjoying and am currently using Fraps but of course this does come at a bit of a hit on the performance of the sim. One of the guys i watch on youtube mentioned he used a external capture device to record his video at very little performance cost. I have been doing a bit of research on them and there seems to be quite a few available so I am not sure which one to get ( ones I see mentioned are Hauppage, Avermedia and Elgato) Does anyone use one to record their footage as I really don't know which one to ge…
