Hi All, I have an AMD 5870HD graphical card that have served me well for several years, but recently it started to give problems, especially while using FSX. Five to ten minutes after starting Flight Simulator X the screen goes black and the graphical card fan goes to 100%. I checked the graphical cards temps with GPU-Z and it came out that the graphical card stops working as soon as the temperature rises above 62 ! ! ! degree Celsius. Cleaning of the card with canned air did not help. Any suggestions how this card can be saved ? See you, Jan http://home.wxs.nl/~jarkest/fsx/fsx.html

  3. I have spent hours trying to get Inspector to work. I've googled it extensively and found no help to solve my problem. I am running Inspector 1.9.7.3 on Win7 Pro 64 with a 970 card. I have been selecting the MS Flight Simulator X profile and trying to update certain parameters to values I'd like to use. So what I've been doing is changing the values, clicking on the button to associate FSX.exe with the revised profile, then clicking on Accept Changes. Well, the changes disappear and the profile immediately reverts back to what it was originally. I can't seem to get my changes accepted. Clearly I must be doing something wrong but I can't figure it out. I've also tried jus…

Hi guys, I'm looking to get a 40" 4K TV as my flight sim monitor... Any reccomendatios ?

  7. Hi guys, Need some advice please I got a brand new Gainward GTX970 4G card and installed in my Asus Z-97A motherboard. First flight I made, I got a crash by the Graphics driver, and OpenGL error. P3D screen went black and never recovered. I did some googling and the only thing I saw was ensuring my card was set to Gen3, but there are two different places for this. Under "PCH COnfiguration" I get the option to to configure the PCI Express Slots, but the only options are AUTO, GEN1 and GEN2 Under "System Agent Configuration" I get the option "NB PCIe Configuration" to set 16x speed and options are AUTO, GEN1, GEN2 and GEN3 Could someone please le…

Hi all, I'm considering a build that will upgrade my screens from a single 24" to three monitors. My current card is a GTX680. I'd rather not upgrade my card now if it can be avoided (6 months +). What size screen should I select if I plan to sit 24" from the monitors? Can I still run FSX in fullscreen? Are there any adverse effects to three monitors? Thanks!

Hello, In FSX SP2 my exterior textures disappear when I hit "s" (spot view) on keyboard or a dedicated button on my Logitech Extreme 3d. It seems to depend on the aircraft whether that happens or not; for example Carenado works okay, Aerosoft Airbus series disappears almost every time. I set up my GTX 980 using the Jan 2012 Nvidia Inspector guide, selecting "8xS." Not really what the culprit is. P3D seems to work perfectly i.e. no disappearing exterior textures. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! Jerry Preston Airmail 8

  17. I can upgrade my system from my current 780ti 3gb card to a 980 4gb card. Should I opt for one of the top EVGA 980 cards available now, or is it worth it to wait for the upcoming 980ti?

  18. I have a GTX 580 using NVIDIA Inspector and 311.06 drivers, WIN 7 Professional, PMDG 737 NGX that in windowed mode with adaptive V synch at 1/2 and FSX set at 30, or for that matter with Vsynch forced on whenever I would change views in the 2D cockpit the view seems to flash back and forth between views several times in a split second before settling into the view I was switching to. Very annoying. Turning off V synch seemed to eliminate it, but leaves the tearing which is also not pleasant. I notice that many folks never seem to have this issue or bring it up when reviewing threads on V synch, others do. I was wondering if anyone ever figured out the cause …

  19. Hi, I'm having problems with FSX Steam Edition. I have just built a new setup with the following spec.. Ideas please? Falcon BMS and DCS World cause this but FSX does not, likely because FSX doesn't properly leverage and therefore stress the GPU, whereas the other 2 sims do. My EVGA 470gtx does not reboot so the PSU is fine. Thanks for any ideas.

Hi. I have been in flight simming off and on for many years (back to about '90). I'm almost at my wits end now. I recently purchased a computer specifically built to run FSX. I have the Gold Edition of FSX with the Acceleration Pack installed on an SSD. The basic specs of this machine are i7 3770K running Windows 7 at 4.4GHz (water-cooled), 8GB Kingston HyperX RAM, a GeForce 670 FTW video card, and two monitors. My video driver was originially Nvidia 314.22 and is now 347.52. I also have Nvidia Inspector 1.9.7.1. with either Nick's or xxxxx's recommendations. I have no add-ons installed at this time. With this hardware I would assume I would have no trouble ge…

Well, my second ZOTAC GTX 980 arrived today so that I can start on SLI with P3D. Unboxed it, and it had no SLI bridle in the box. Of course I pitched the one from the first 980 I bought because we wouldn't have P3D SLI in our lifetimes. Can't believe it. Searched through four boxes of old cables , three old MB boxes and two large boxes of AC adapters that I have and I found two sets of Palm software if anyone needs it Bottom line, I managed to find an ASUS SLI bridle from a couple of years ago. They physically fit - are the pinouts compatible and a standard part of the spec from major manufacturer to the next? I still just can't believe it. Jeff Callender

  23. Hi all, So, I have a feeling that my old TV which is acting as my computer monitor is just a poor choice in general. My living room tv is a 46" 1080 HD tv which displays my monitor stuff with great edges, smoothness etc... However, it's not practical to run a 20ft HDMI cable across the living room every day. So, I have my old college tv which is a Sharp tv (http://www.sharpusa.com/ForHome/HomeEntertainment/LCDTV/Archives/LC22SB27UT.aspx) and I notice that the quality of everything that looks great on my living room tv, is "squished" or jagged edges, blurry and other stuff... Can anyone recommend some settings to use to fix that for this particular monitor? Or, sho…

  24. I just got this game last week and I'm hooked. Probably the best game I've played so far. Now, my PC is nothing fancy... AMD Phenom II 955 @ 4ghz, 8g DDR3, GTX560. With every graphics setting on "Normal", I get 60fps pretty much at all times, dropping maybe to mid 40's during very heavy scenes like the chase in the benchmark. Which GPU do you guys think will be a good upgrade so I can run it with most settings on "High" or "Very High"? I'm thinking the GTX750Ti. I'm not sure about the 660 because it might be overkill for my CPU, or is this game heavily dependent on GPU? I'd like to get as close to 60fps average as possible, but I wouldn't mind the 40's as long …

  25. I have the opportunity to purchase a second 980 (EVGA 980 SC) for my system and I was wondering if SLI improves the performance of P3D. I am not looking for high frames but rather want reduce choppiness and blurry textures and improve the smoothness of my flying, especially when in heavy clouds. I believe my supporting hardware is reasonable (4790K @ 4.8GHz, 16GB of 2400MHz RAM, and Windows 7 with P3D on a stand-along SSD). I should also mention that my monitor is 1900X1200 so not very demanding resolution-wise. I'm curious as to what I can expect in performance as well as any potential problems I may have getting SLI to work with P3D. I know this is a hardware q…
