my 980 GTX is on it's way as a replacement for my 680 GTX. It's my understanding that all I have to do is: Install the new card update to the latest driver go to: C:/Users/Lyn/AppData/Local/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3DV2/Shaders Do I delete the Shaders Folder or the contents of the Shaders folder? Start P3d and the folder will rebuild thank you for any help

Ok so I pretty much got my system I'm planning to get, but I'm really having a hard time choosing the video card. This is my planned system: Intel i5-4690k @ 3,5 GHz ASRock Z97 Extreme4 be quiet Pure Power L8 730W CM 8GB DDR3 1600 CL9 GTX760,960 (970?) I was initially planning to get the MSI GTX760 TF, but apparently the GTX 960 seems to be significantly more powerful from what I've read. I know everyone is recommending the GTX970, but my main issue here is price and the difference here isn't that small. €240 for the GTX960 and €360+ for the GTX970. Let's say I would be ready to invest that extra €120+ will I be able to get the mose of it on that system??…

Hi, I have a question regarding a limit to the voltage my card can go up to. I use precision x and FSX always seems to crash when it boosts the voltage up to 1013, however, if when I am using FSX and it keeps the voltage at 0965, then it never crashes and is fine. However, I don't know how to stop precision x from automatically jumping up to 1013 volts. Is there a program out there where I can just keep the voltage at 0965 to below 1000 without it going up to 1013? The card is a 580GTX Really would like some help. Thank you.

Hello- Odd problem this time. Upon starting up my computer a few days ago, my monitor, a ViewSonic VX2245, did not display. The blue light on it indicated that it was connected to the computer, but there was nothing displaying. When I got to the desktop, with a very close look, I could see the wallpaper extremely dim. After restarting the computer many times, it worked magically, but after restarting again, or putting the computer asleep, this happens again. I have uninstalled it and the driver from Device Manager, and reinstalled with latest drivers. The monitor isn't physically broken because the 1 time that it did go on with full display, there was no cracks or da…

  5. I just boot up FSX:SE and MSI Afterburner monitoring tool. Jump into the Aerosoft Airbus 320 plane from KLAX to KLAS. From takeoff to halfway through, my GPU usage was at it's highest 15%. My GTX 970 is not overclock. Some of it was probably because I have 2 other screen running. So before you buy the biggest video card you can, be aware that it's probably a waste of money for FSX. I guess it was to be expected but I am really sad of how little the GPU is being used.

i have i7 overclocked to 4.5 (and very stable) but running a GTX780. Will it really make such a difference to get a 980? Would this 980 not sit and wait for CPU and idling along? if 980 get a yes, which one would you recommend, then I am reasonably content with what I have, but you know there is always going to be the question, but maybe it can be better Sorry I am not that technical

I know this is a hardware question, and may be more appropriate in another forum, but as an exclusive PMDG operator in FSX, I wanted to focus this question to the PMDG crowd. I'm currently running a Radeon HD5770 with great results in the NGX. I'd like to upgrade to a 2GB card for the future use of the PMDG 777 or 747V2, as well as get more performance for other programs such as FarCry 4. I'd like to stick to a 150 to 200 dollar range for an upgrade. I understand the GeForce cards are preferred over the Radeon cards for FSX use, can someone remind me why? And what's a good suggestion for that price range?

Hi, I recently got my first Nvidia card in some time, installed the drivers, and as well as the main Nvidia GPU Control Panel, I've noticed that I also have this program called Nvidia GeForce Experience, that keeps trying to update itself, and generally be a bit of a pest. Can I uninstall this "GeForce Experience" thing, without it affecting my GPU usage with FSX ? Many thanks in advance.

Hey guys So I bought a 780 Ti a while ago. It's a very powerful card, runs every game I have with easy! But FSX seems to be it's nemesis!! it runs SO bad this simulator, I think it runs worse than my GTX670 used to do! I did a complete FSX Clean Install, when I Installed FTX Global, PMDG 777, some scenery, Mesh, and that's it. My fsx.cfg is using AffinityMask, BP=0, basically this. My Nvidia Inspector is set for 8xS and 2x sparse grid supersampling. I used to run my GTX670 like this before, I don't think this is too high for a GTX 780Ti!!! PMDG 777 sitting at an airport I get like 8 Fps!!! What's wrong here??? Can somebody help? This is driving me crazy! I…

Hey guys, I just upgraded from an HD6770 to a Gigabyte GTX670. Going great so far in every game except for FSX. Current PC Setup: i5 2500k at 4.2Ghz Gigabyte GTX670 (stock) ASUS Z68-V LE mobo 8gb DDR3 (dont know what speed) Corsair TX550M PSU Windows 7 I restarted with a clean FSX.cfg, and used the Bojote Tweaker. Then I tried looking into Nvidia Inspector settings but its a little overwhelming being a recent convert, having never used Inspector before. My fps are great, usually in the 40-50s at FSdreamteam KORD with the Airbus X and even CS767. Flying is pretty smooth, but... When I'm taxiing, and more when I'm turning, there are clearly stutters an…

Hi, I am just using nVidia Inspector for the first time this evening, and have a super-noob question ;- After having set up global and FSX profiles and settings in nVidia Inspector, do you have to start NI before FSX each time you're going to use FSX ? The reason for asking is that I could not find a settings screen in NI, with things like "start up with Windows", and also note the GUI has no minimize icon. Or are the settings that you determine in NI, just 'hard baked', and there's no need to run it before using FSX? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my 22' monitor with a new 28' 4k Samsung one. I run the sim on a i5 3570k at 4.5Ghz,Asus GTX660 OC GPU. My main concern is if I will experience a frame rate hit. If anyone has such an experience I would be grateful for any guidance. Is the experience vs a standard hd monitor worth the extra money? Thank you for your time.

I have a ASUS VG248QE and looking to see what settings you simmers use? I'm using this guide But at night its really dark so have to set things through NVIDIA control panel. So i'm looking for an optimal setting ie brightness, contrast etc to use with FSX for day and night.

Greetings, I have read about setting up multiple displays, but frankly, I'm more confused now. Hoping to get some thoughts from the experts now, as I can buy new monitor(s) or use my own at this point. Video card is also important. This is what I currently have: Single GTX 680 and Apple 30" Cinema display (DVI - 2560x1600 60hz). It's ok for my desk, but I'm getting a Volairsim and will soon have VESA mounts for 3 displays. The Apple does not have a VESA mount ...just sits on top of my desk, so it probably goes. I have 3 or 4 Dell 24" displays around, currently not in use. Ideally, I'd like a panoramic 3 display. Would this stretch the inside cabin vi…

  22. I've been trying to tweak my new 4790k GTX770 system for what seems forever now and I'm about ready to just give up it's so frustrating. I've followed Nick's guide's as well as many other posts and still am not getting sufficient results as far as graphics quality that I'm looking for. I can't complain about the overall performance but I am not seeing graphics I am happy with. I've spent what seems like hundreds of hours researching and tweaking and haven't even barely gotten to enjoy the simulator itself because of it. I just don't understand why I am still not getting clean edges on aircraft and why I am getting the dreaded black spikes when panning in spot view. I…

Just couple quick comments for anyone who is also interested at flying P3D on a 4K TV. Just set up a Seiki 65" 4K I bought from Amazon for $1000 couple weeks ago. The Seiki is cheap and the 4K resolution is real (3840x2160) and great. However it can only do 4K at 30Hz max and the color is mediocre - I would guess it's probably a 6bit panel although overall good enough. The LG 50" 1080p plasma replaced by this Seiki definitely has much better color quality. Only had couple hours with P3D on it so far. I was already running P3D at 4K resolution for 4x DSR at 1080p, so the performance hit by upgrading to 4K was not obvious to me. However, AA becomes quite tricky with 4K…
