I just changed over from a triple screen to a large screen HDTV. One of the main reasons was that when night flying the view angle to the triple screens rendered them very dim. Now I use one of the BENQ monitors for a control monitor, and the HDTV for the main outside view. I've posted the Triple Head 2 Go in the classified listings, as I no longer require it. Hi all, I currently own a golden sample Gainward 460GTX which at the time I purchased it, was one of the best GPU's out there. I am now looking to upgrade and the GPU market has really confused me, particularly why some GPU's are so cheap and some so ridiculously expensive. I have around £120/$180 to spend plus (if I can sell it) whatever I sell the current 460GTX for. Does anyone have any ideas what may give me a sizeable boost in FSX? I am currently looking at a 760GTX but I am confused why some models are so cheap. Some of these newer GPU's have lower memory bit rates for example than mine so I don't want to get something that will make FSX worse! I use the GPU…

Need a new monitor but only have room for maybe a 24^ max. I see there are 2 main resolutions for these... Most seem to be 1920x1080, but the the HD one's are 1920x1200. Would I notice that difference in FSX?

I was following the last topic on this new release, but when I accessed my email and saw 100 odd emails in a day guessed something had gone south with it which is a shame. I have always wanted a good 747 ( I use Air Hauler so was building my company up so I could buy one, cant quite afford it yet in Air Hauler!) Has anyone who purchased it used it on a 3 monitor setup? ie any problems with the spinning cursor issue on any of the 2d panels? All the videos on it so far on utube seem to be the 2004 version and are very positive which is nice. Look forward to any comments from anyone who has purchasaed it as to what you think. Thanks a lot Steve

Hi guys.. Been reading through some posts on this, but couldn't find a definitive answer to my own little question Situation is now: Using a Samsung 24" on my 660ti with DSR in play a 2x native res. I really love it and have a smooth sim. In the interest of trying to get a bigger view I tried hooking up and old LCD HD-ready TV, but the highest possible resolution that I could select was just too low, and ade everything in the cockpit unreadable. That's why I'm here: Question: 1. If I were to go buy a new or used LED tv, what would be the minimum supported resolution I should go for, to have a clear picture? If buying +40 screen size, will that hav…

Hi all thinking about upgrading to atleast a gtx970 as my evga sc gtx580 has served me well for the last nearly 5 years now. Just have a few questions before i get this for christmas as my rig is mainly a fsx pc I know there wont be much of a performance boost but there a few games that coming out i would like to take advantage of. The main reason for the upgrade is the 580 runs really hot and the noise level. What im worried about is i have just got fsx running as near enough perfect and the last thing i want to do is sit and have to play about with the cfg files or settings in fsx So what is the best procedure for installing a new card with fsx. Whats…

Hey All, I know SLI is a "big" deal for many and it's a VERY common questions (and/or complaint) I get. I can sympathize with some of the frustration around SLI, especially for those that have purchase multiple GPUs for this very product. First off, let me assure you that how I'm about to proceed may not be "user friendly" and is not officially supported. We'll still need nVidia driver support ... that will not change. However I'm going to press forward with trying to get 2-way or 3-way SLI to work even if no official driver support from nVidia yet. I've seen other's report success. My current plan of attack on a base (no add-on) 2.3 Pro Plus install: …

ok - got my Samsung 28" HD monitor last night and set it up. Mixed emotions so far. Native res is 3820x2160. First observation is the the picture is fantastic but there are a few issues. I run a multi monitor system and have two GTX780's in SLI - second monitor is a 28" HannsG native at 1920x1200. My first issue is that the men items in P3D are so small at 3820 that with my old eyes it is difficult to see. Changed the DPI scaling to help but then the second monitor text gets huge. SO that will be my first hurdle. Without changing any settings in P3D or NVidia CP I started up P3D and immediately flew into IMC - I'm locked at 22fps but I was having a hard time m…

  13. ...but it has been very absent from AVSIM. Nobody has ordered one, yet? They have been out since the first month of this year... Here's people throwing hundreds of dollars at a one-step-up series graphics card upgrade, with truly negligible R.O.I. for going beyond an nVidia 600 series card, yet for about the same money, can get G-Sync enabled monitor that will run with a 600-700-900 series nVidia card.....which will most likely cure/do away with, visible stutter and blur. Yet...nobody is posting ownership of any of the monitors now enabled... http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/g-sync/where-to-buy-g-sync-monitors-and-modules If I were a true earl…

  14. I recently upgraded my rig, and have a system that includes a 4790K processor, a GTX 770 Video Card, and several SSDs for Windows 7 and FSX. Just this week, I replaced by old Samsung 19" 4:3 display with an Asus 24" IPS display with 1920 X 1200 resolution, that is, a 16:10 aspect ratio. I included the WideViewAspect = TRUE line in my FSX.cfg file. The visual quality of the new 24" IPS display is great, but had to tone down the brightness quite a bit since these displays are set out of the box to light up a room! My issue is that when I set up my first flight with the default Cessna 172, the 2D instrument panel is now displaying instruments that are out of …

I am looking to upgrade my PC, starting with the video card. I run p3d v2 which I understand would benefit from more than the 1.5gb of memory on my gtx480. I was going to get the new 980gtx but I am wondering whether that will really give me much more performance on p3d than the 970 which is about half the price. I don't really use the pc for any other gaming. I am also planning to get a z97 motherboard and i7-4790k but would be grateful for thoughts on the graphics card as a starter. Thanks.

Hi Is anyone using a 21:9 aspect ratio monitor for P3D or gaming in general. I currently use a 30" HP monitor @ 2560x1600. Really want to enhance the experience by getting an expanded FOV. Have looked at the triple screen setups but just can't get myself to commit due to the bezel infringement, color shifts between monitors etc... Was looking at the LG 34UM95-P. It can do 3440x1440. Would be interested to hear about any experiences if anyone has tried it or something similar in this aspect ration. http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34UM95-P-ultrawide-monitor

  19. I need a new monitor (flat panel tv) since the one I was using is now in my living room. Im having a hard time trying to figure out what to get because I am worried about frames/screen tearing. With my old 120 hz I had to put it into a PC mode to keep from getting vsync issues, PC mode sent the tv to 60hz refresh rate which cured the problem. Im finding with these newer tvs PC mode isnt changing the hz to 60 anymore. In P3d I struggle to keep fps in the 30's. Really need some input on this, thanks.

  20. A friend of mine has a older computer with a MOBO ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z. He's Geforce 560 died and would like to replace it with modern card (Geforce >600, geforce 500s aren't in production anymore) The bus is a PCIe 2.0x16. Not sure what modern Geforce card could be used (all seem to be PCIe 3.0). Looking forward to your help and advice. Thanks a lot Karim

I recived my GTX970 today (EVGA SC) and was eager to try it with p3d 2.4. Turned everyting to max (except shadows) and in "normal" scenarios I get great frames. I then tried a hardcore-scenario (New York, bad weather) and only got single digit, max 13 frames/s. What makes me wonder is that I had GPU-Z running in the background and it showed a maximum GPU use of only 22% Also max. memory use was at about 2 GB. I thought that the GPU would run at 100% and therefore give me better frames. Did I miss something? Res is 1920x1080, Win 7 64, i5 2500K, 8GB RAM Thanks!

Hey guys, Long story short, after flying a 5 hour night flight on my "new" monitor, the screen burned in and damaged some subpixels which are now stuck on red.. which is odd, considering I have ezca keeping the contents dynamic with the head bobbing. I am now looking around for a potential replacement monitor and frankly, I'm lost. I'm currently looking for a 27 inch, 1080p monitor that will not get burn in over time. Long hauls are my favorite type of flights and i just cannot stay in front of the monitor panning around for 14 hours, even real pilots don't sit that long at the controls.. I've been looking around and find out that IPS monitors are susceptible …

  23. Hi. Long story short, I've been having some troubles lately that I'm pretty sure have to do with a video card that's starting to die. The MB posts just fine, and stress tests are fine as well, but I'm getting these freezes and re-boots that I can't otherwise explain. So... 1. Can anyone help with maybe troubleshooting my vid card (GTX 580)? or 2. Can anyone suggest a worthwhile upgrade of the card IF I need to replace it, keeping in mind that I'm still on the 1366 socket (i7-950) and can't really afford to upgrade that much at this time? Thanks for any help y'all can offer... Matt

  25. I recently purchased a 4K 55-inch Sony X9005b television. So far I had been playing my PS4 on it at 1080p without any issues. Last week I upgraded my PC GPU to the Asus Strix 970 to take advantage of the HDMI 2.0 connection. I didn’t expect to play at 4K on most games so thought that I would more likely play at 1080p or 1440p and let the TV upscale by itself as it does automatically with all content such as the PS4 or standard TV/Blu-rays etc. However, much to my disappointment and lots of hair pulling, I am having huge problems with games at any resolutions when in full screen mode. For example, with ARMA 3, I have my desktop set at 4K resolution and when I enter the …
