Running FSX in Win7, after installing the latest 344.11 I started receiving "The procedure entry point Direct3DCreate9Ex could not be located in the dynamic link library d3d9.dll" errors when going from windowed to full screen or back. Would have to hit "ok" 9 or 10 times, then things seemed ok. After some frustration and research, found a thread for an unrelated game that suggested removing the GeForce Experience, that did it for me. Seems it might be related to use of the ENB mod . . . Just trying to save anyone else some grief . . .

Hi, there is a new version of NI out, the layout of the settings screen has changed but someone with more knowledge than myself would know if anything else has changed with actual settings, any feed back would be great. Cheers Rod.

I will soon be upgrading my 22 Samsung monitor to a bigger and better one. I was targeting a 26-27 inches IPS and a good candidate is the Dell Ultrasharp U2711.However, I am now getting confused. My system is P8P67 PRO B3, [email protected], 8Gb RAM, GTX 560 Ti, 2x128 Gb SSD, 2TB storage, CM690II Adv, and using NGX, UTX, UT2, REX, GEX and would be using the monitor also for photos and movies occasionally.OK now why am confused and what I am considering:- 2560x1440 vs 1980x1080 vs 1920x1200: I would prefer a 1980 resolution as I don't believe the loss of frame rates / smoothness in FSX is compensated by the increased quality and resolution in 2560x1440. I believe 1980x1080 or 1…

HI; I have noticed that my runway lines flicker a lot mostly noticeable in VC mode. It is mostly apparent with I zoom in and out in VC and sometimes the buildings also flicker . I just bought a new rig and high grade monitor so I am using VC a lot so that's the reason I am more concerned about it. With my new rig I did a new install of FSX so I have no scenery or Airport add on as yet. I wanted to start fresh with no add-on and then get everything right first and then slowly add add-ons. I am using a NVIDIA GTX770 2GB Overclocked video card - Most of my settings in FSX are set to Medium to Max in most cases. Here are my NVIDIA settings - I do not have Direct X10 c…

In the last week I've been through three video cards. I've been using the R290X running five vertical monitors. It was working pretty well with my 4790K. I recently got a 50" 4K monitor to replace three of my other monitors. The configuration is the 50" 4K centered on the front and two 1920x1080's to the left of the 4K. The two 1920x1080 are stacked one on top of the other to form one monitor (I removed the cases of the monitors) about the same height of the 4K. That side monitor(s) is mounted to the wall and tilted in toward me. The R290X was struggling to keep up with the 5760X2160 resolution. Now that I'm using three monitors I can use the nvida chip. I …

Hi. I have a HP Compaq LE1711 my employer was throwing out plugged into the DVI port of my GeForce 7650 card through Nvidia's mini VGA-DVI adaptor. The combination means that I'm stuck with a 1:1.25 aspect ratio as there's no facility for altering it built into the monitor and the option doesn't appear in the screen resolution etc tab of Nvidia control panel. It's not a great problem for FS9 - it just necessitates resizing of 2d panels; the VCs are all ok. It is a problem for my golden oldie, Flight Unlimited 3 which itself has a fixed 1:1.33 aspect ratio (1024 × 768 maximum) and only operates in full screen mode. A couple of frustrating Google searches sugges…

Hello - I am very seriously thinking about getting another monitor for my FSX rig. I have never set up or even used dual monitors before so I'm really not sure where to begin. I currently have one Samsung 27" LED monitor and if I decide to go dual I would buy another identical monitor. How easy is it to set up in Windows 7? How easy is it to set up a nice cockpit view with both monitors in FSX? (I would like to set up the view like this http://www.timsaviationadventures.com/Pics/iraq/setup.jpg ) Does FSX have to be used in windowed mode or can I still run in full screen? Does using dual monitors hurt FPS / performance? (I have a Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 660 OC) …

Hey guys my Birthday is coming up and I am thinking about upgrading visuals. I currently have a Dell IPS 24 at 1920X1200 and have had for many many years. I want to go bigger but never ventured too far into looking for monitors. What are your guys' suggestions? Would a 27'' at 1920X1080 be just as good, since there is a significant price break between that and the higher resolution monitor? I would like to spend no more than $500 if that is reasonable. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys. Running a EVGA 670 GTX.

Hello guys, My LG 1680x1050 seems to have died from backlighting failure after 5 years of service. Usually I would not ask for help here as I'd simply find a replacement at the same resolution. The problem is that the most available resolutions seem to be 1920x1080 and I'm really anxious about getting those.. Because I run DX10 fsx with 4x SGSS antialiasing. I managed to make the frames good in 1680x1050 by lowering draw distance and visibility distance as well as setting my cloud textures to 1024. The effect was good, the hit was gone. But now I'm afraid if I go up to 1920x1080 I will get much less performance than on 1680x1050 due to the sparse grid AA. …

Just found out my desk space is too small for a 27" monitor, so I was thinking of getting the LG 25UM64-S 25" monitor.. It is a 2560x1080 resolution so I was wondering if it will be a little off for fsx. I could get the 24" but this seems a little better? I currently have a 9 year old 19" which I need to get rid of. I have a new rig with a Nvidia GTX 770 2gb superclocked so it should be ok. As usual any thoughts and or comments are really appreciated. Thanks very much. Kindest regards. Forshaw.

Even though VR is a technology still very much in development, I have to say that I am very surprised at the lack of discussion that VR, and in particular the Oculus Rift has had within the fourums here at avsim, and amongst the FSX community in general. It stands in contrast to the interest it has garnered with other flight sims, such as DCS, P3D, War Thunder, and X-plane 10. Racing sims have also caught the VR bug, as it's been said that VR offers the most in games where there is some sort if seated cockpit environment. Of course those titles benefit from having a staff around to implement native support. Still though, there are programs which allow for older games…

Hi, I have these two NVIDIA cards. Currently I'm using the Quattro FX 1800 on my i5 because it has larger memory. In areas with lots of autogen I get blue flashes and sometimes freezes. Would the GTS with its higher gpu speed improve performance? It has a smaller memory. Looks like a good (and cheaper) deal for somebody about to pick up a 780! If you already have one, no need for an upgrade, though.

I have a post going already in this forum asking for help with settings in NI on my particular system and it has been very helpful but it has brought up new questions for me. I am trying to understand the proper use of texture filtering in NI. IS Nicks guide it says to set anti aliasing off in FSX, and to set filter to trilinear. It also says to set NI to 16x I. Filtering. Many people have recommended that I set the filtering to application controlled and linear/off and set anisotropic in fsx. According to his guide and forum posts he has made, setting the 16x already provides anisotropic because NI is telling the GPU to override application settings already an…

Well, I pulled the ripcord on a high-resolution 2560x1440 display, an ASUS PB278Q 27" monitor. Only a minor increase in size from my previous 23" monitor, but I was hoping the extra resolution would be good. My first impression when I fired up the Legacy at my default airport was "meh" - the view was moderately more expansive, but nothing earth shattering. However, after I started looking around, and noticed that the instruments were rock steady and dead clear, the airport fencing was totally crisp, and say, I don't remember that Lear parked next to me looking so sharp before, my impression turned to hmmmmm. Took my first flight, and as the Internet meme goes, erm…

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the sound coming from my asus 27inch monitor, i have none! I use a dvi cable from the desktop to my monitor, and i used to have a pair of logitech speakers which worked fine, but now I no longer have them. How do I get sound from my desktop to monitor? Do i need some type of other cable? I tried an aux chord but that didn't work either. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, Sorry if you've read a question like this a billion times but I still cant decide after reading countless pages of avsim posts so I'm going to ask this again. I am in the market for a new monitor for FSX. I've done research but still have no clue where to start or what to look for. Should I be worried about the refresh rates and response times or resolution and size? I've looked at triple 24 inch to single 34" but I'm stuck. Can anyone suggest a monitor or tell me what they use? I don't really have a budget but I'd like if it was under $1000. Main Specs: i5 4670k Asus Direct CUii OC GeForce GTX 780ti 3gb 8gb of G.skill sniper RAM Samsung 120gb SSD Currentl…

Have a new system, built using NickN's Bible. Installed all FSX systems and Windows (add-ons) IE Adobe etc. Fsx working perfectly along with Nvidia inspector. Completed last part of Nick's Bible (all the Windows mods). When opening Nvidia Inspector from Desk top Icon the Nvidia inspector screen comes on and does show temps, fan rpm etc working, but as soon as I click the profile box (crossed tools icon) a windows information box opens (red dot with white cross) comes on indicating an "unhandled exception has occurred in your application" continue, quite, etc. "the path's format is not supported." If I try to Re-Install Nvidia inspector from the compressed zip down…
