I have just installed my new ASUS Strixx GTX 970 and have been testing it with X-plane 10 (latest beta). I have tested both in 4K and 1080p on my new Sony 4K TV. Firstly, I can say the 4K experience with X-plane 10 is mind blowing. However, I am witnessing some strange behaviour. When in 4K I can get 22-25 fps at Aerosoft Lugano airport with clear weather and settings turned up almost to the highest everywhere and at extreme resolution. I am running with HDR on. Once away from the airport, I get from 30 – 6o fps which is pretty surprising in a positive way using 4K with a single 970 even with addons like the Jardesign A320 and caranado aircraft!! Up until recently I'd been using 4x DSR and 8x AF in DX10 at 1080 (is it 1080i when vsynced at 30hz?..my TV doesn't switch to i mode so I assume it's still 1080p) seeing max GFX usage of 55% so I knew I had plenty of headroom but it looked good enough, although some shimmering remained and meant I could tweak for the CPU without worrying about the GPU. So I added 4x SGSS and 16x AF and it looks beautiful. Performance seems pretty good too and I've only lost 2 or 3 fps when flying in FSX thunderstorm theme. GPU usage now at 99%. No more time tweak tonight but I'm interested to see what happens if I drop the quality of AF and SGSS both together as well as separately…

Why do textures look less sharp and wavy when I set Texture Filtering in Nvidia Inspector to High Quality? How can I counter the wavy textures? LOD BIas change?

Really odd thing when trying to update the driver. I go to control panel to uninstall the driver which it does correctly but at the end my screens go black, computer still running and it hangs. I ended up cutting the power, starting in safe mode and then shutting down. I have since reinstalled the updated 344.65 and everything seems in order but I wonder what is causing this and if there is a fix ?

Hey guys so I have a GTX 780 and a 1920X1080 monitor. I setup DSR and Nividia Global settings per what has been posted in the forums here. I run at 3840X2160 in sim fullscreen. I noticed on the wings of the PMDG 737 the black lines where passengers follow to evacuate in an emergency are very jaggie, but when looking top down or close up they improve. Is there AA and AF settings in Nvidia inspector to be set? Also in spot view FPS are spiking 45-65-30-65 can we run the FPS limiter in inspector? I currently have a standard 19" monitor that only has a VGA (analog) connection, and I am thinking about upgrading to a widescreen with a digital connection. I do not want anything more than a 1920x1080 screen, but I want it to be good quality. What size widescreen monitor would have a screen height roughly the same as my existing 19" LCD? This would result in a roughly similar pixel size to my existing monitor (and I don't want this to be too large for obvious reasons). Am I right in thinking that I would need to be looking at a 25" widescreen? I don't want to pay stupid amounts of money, but I also don't want a cheap piece of crap! Hi I purchased the Samsung 4K UHD TV and connected it to the HDMI output on my GTX 770 3840x2160) to the TV's HDMI input using an HDMI-HDMI cable. FSX runs fine in windowed mode, with lots of vertical screen tearing. In full-screen, the screen repeatedly flickers between full black and the desktop. How can I fix the vertical tearing in windowed mode, and get full-screen to work? I have FPS locked at 30 (also tried 20), nvidia inspector has Adaptive Vsync on, and Vsync forced on (also tried "Enable the 3D application setting" and "1/2 refresh rate".) Ok i just set my monitor to 144hz Added the 2 entry's to FSX CFG under the display section ForceFullScreenVSync=True ForceVSync=True also set FSX fps to unlimited and nvidia inspector like this - But with track ir on i get some jitterys is not terrible but its annoying. anyone use the same setup with track ir that can help me smooth it out even more...

I'm thinking about buying one of the new Retina MacBook Pros this weekend and I'm wondering if anyone's actually tried running FSX on the Iris integrated GPU that's on the Haswell processors? It only needs to run well enough for me to do PMDG support work while on trips, at school etc - not looking for it to replace my desktop rig or anything. Would like to get away with the 13" model if I can - the 15" one with the GT 750m is over $1000 more.

Hi all, Lately, I have been thinking of purchasing a touch screen monitor and using it as an overhead. After a quick Google search, I found a neat-looking Dell 23" touch screen (Dell P2314T) for $300. If someone has bought a similar touch screen, was it worth it (does realism really increase)?, and does it work well with PMDG-style add-ons? Thank you in advance for any replies! :smile:

My brother gave me a 'dodgy' video card to have a look at. It's an HIS HD6970. Judging by the massive, and I mean MASSIVE amount of dust and crud I've removed from this card, I'd guess it's cooked from being overheated. It will work long enough to boot a PC, but asked to do even a small amount of work, and the signal to the monitor stops completely. Lots of YouTube vids about 'baking' them as a LAST RESORT!!!! Anyone here had any success with it? Sounds like a hoax to me, but there are lots of vids about it.

For some reason I can't find my Nvidia Control Panel in the task bar anymore. This is my first issue. If anyone can let me know how to retrieve it, I'd appreciate it. So yesterday, I thought that re-installing the V344.48 Nvidia driver would reinstate my Nvidia Control panel. I went through the installation process, but halfway through the install my PC blue screened. It did this twice on two seperate attempts with reboots inbetween. Does anyone have any clue why this might be happening? I was thinking tonight I might try a manual uninstall of the current driver and then try the re-install....

I am having an interesting problem with NVidia surround. I have just acquired 3 monitors, 2 at 1200x1600 and the other at 2560x1600, I am wanting to set them up in a surround configuration of 4960x1600 but I am running into a slight problem. When I enable surround, all of the monitors go into either landscape or portrait when I need the outsides to be in portrait and the middle to be in landscape. I am running a GTX690 with 344.11 drivers.

I have downloaded the new Nvidia driver 344.48 from the Nvidia weibsite and i dont seem to have the DSR option on my Nvidia Control panel under the Global section? Am i missing something here? I am running P3Dv2.2 in a 2PC setup. My main computer is an i5 4440@310GHz Haswell with 8GBRam single channel DDR3. My main outside view is on a 40"Samsung TV Res 1920*1080. The second PC runs the gauges of the IFly737NG My Graphics Card on the main computer is a 2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660. My problem is that quite often the graphics card stops working and shuts down. (My in game settings are around Medium as described by Rob Ainscroft) The sim then stops working. I am using the 344.11 driver. Should this card not be capable of running P3Dv2.2 at reasonable settings using ORBX regions.? Do I have a failing card (it is still under warranty). Wiliam

I'm still using the same drivers that I installed when I built my system a year ago. I have some minor issues in fsx -- lakes shimmer in cloudy conditions sometimes -- but nothing major. Since reinstalling nvidia drivers and resetting inspector settings can be cumbersome, I've kept it as is. My big worry is updating to the latest greatest drivers and having major issues. If it ain't too broke, don't fix it. Should I stick with these minor issues or go ahead and update? PS since I only use my win7 box for fsx, I haven't updated win7 updates either. Is this bad?
