I have a more than five year old 24" LG monitor. Could I improve something by getting a new 27" ? Two things has come to my mind 1) A bigger display is better since things like for example instruments get bigger which would be an advantage. Or is is the difference between 24" and 27" to small to matter? 2) Could a new monitor give better image quality simply because my current one is five year old ? I mean have not the monitors being developed and got better during five year ?

Hello everyone, before posting my issue, I went through some posts and noticed many here are using a 27'' monitor, some even a 32'' or higher, and it seems you are all happy about your setup. Well, I was using a 17'' monitor, and decided it was time to change, so I bought a HP Pavillion, 27 xi IPS. It is very nice, thing is, whenever I fly with my NGX, after a few minutes, FSX sturts stuttering... Here is my rig's specs: CPU Intel I7-4770, 3.5 Ghz, EVGA GTX780, factory overclocked, 8 GB of DD3 RAM, two SSD, one for Windows 7-64, one for FSX. The add ons I currently use are: EZ-Dok, Trackir 5, ASN, ORBX Global, FEX for sky textures, and I do not use AA, but Triline…

Hi! I'm looking at this 29' Asus ultra-wide screen monitor to replace my BenQ 24' screen. Its been getting good reviews, but I'm unsure how it will perform with FSX or Prepar3D. The frame hit will definitely be lower than a triple monitor setup, and I can use the 24' screen for charts etc. Here's a link to a pretty descent review: http://tbreak.ae/asus-mx299q-monitor-review/ What do you think? I don't think my GTX 760 have the capacity to run at 4K, unfortunately.

Good day everyone, Here is my system specification: MOBO: G1.Sniperz.97 i7 4790K GPU: AMD R9 290 :( RAM: 16Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 16GB 2133MHz it is working great with FSX and I am getting really smooth flying with PMDG777, however I decided to get the Steve's fixer for the DX10 and guess what! The AMD doesn't like DX10 at all!!! everyone said I need to switch my GPU to nVidia and that's my plan at the moment. My question, which nVidia would be the best option for FSX with DX10 Steve's fixer installed or Sweetfx? I saw many users comparing between GTX 970 and 980. There is almost 50% in price deference! So, what do you guys sugges…

As the title says. http://www.ncix.com/detail/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-970-oc-6d-103049-1301.htm I'm looking to pick one up. NCIX has them for $319 until dec 31. I have a midsized case and I run an I5 2500K running at 4.6GHZ. It looks like this little card limits overclocking as it probably can't handle the heat. Video card overclocking isn't something I couldn't care about anyway. especially for FSX. Does this card run the same as any other GTX 970? Or am I better off going after an ASUS strix or the G1? If it runs the same as any other 970, why spend the extra 100. plus it uses less power. Any input would be great because i'm looking to purchase before the 31st. …

I've been looking for a way to get Nvidia DSR to work with P3D or FSX but, since they are not "supported games", I can't find a way to get it to happen. I've been looking in the GeForce Experience since that's really the only "Nvidia control panel" type thing I have. I do have MSI Afterburner the "Riva Tuner" thing but don't see how those would help either. People here are stating that they got DSR going so, it must be possible along with other settings that I'm unable to find in GeForce Experience.

Merry Christmas Eve to all. I didn't think that this fit in the hardware section. I received my new 2560X1440 monitor today and hooked it up. I opened FSX and selected this resolution from the menu, 2560x1440x32, and noticed that I had two black sections on the left and right. I was under the impression that 1560x1440 was 16:9 aspect ratio, and I am fairly certain that the last monitor I was using was 16:9 aspect ratio which had no black sections on the side. When reading about FSX CFG I read that, I think its called wide screen, should be changed to true. I'm pretty sure I have not done this yet and will try it. I'm just confused that if they are the same aspect rati…

Hello. Not sure if this is the right area to post this. I just about have my new sim pit set up. Waiting on a new 27" monitor and have a used 24" monitor from the folks. My video card has two DVI connections. I just wanted to know, because I'm sure people have done this before, will it be possible to run a program like Plan-G on the smaller monitor and to run FSX on the larger monitor without running FSX in windowed mode? Is there anyway around this? Can I somehow tell Windows not to treat the other monitor like an extension of the desktop, but still get Plan-G to open on the smaller monitor or drag it there? I just really don't want the windowed outline that comes with w…

With the collapsing price of 4K monitors and UHDTVs I feel I need to explore this option before deciding on a new monitor as the cost is now little different from other possibilities. I have recently seen 40 inch UHDTVs in Australia for less than $1000. This would be the same size as the HDTV that I use currently for FSX but with a much higher display resolution. However, I don't feel I fully understand the pros and cons of 4K when it comes to FSX and its fellow travelers FSX SE and P3D. In particular how much of an impact on perfomance would 4K have in comparison with say 1080P or 1440P and also to what extent does 4K affect VAS in FSX4. Grateful for any observat…

I wanted to post this here in hopes a two monitor expert can point me in the right direction. I am running two monitors. I can move panels on all the models that I fly except one. Payware Eaglesoft Hawker 400 XP FS9 version. No matter what I do if I move a panel to the second monitor FS9 Crashes. At a loss as to why, also at a loss over what to do.

Hello. Does anyone know if I can put a GTX 970 in this mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131703 ? I'm looking at ordering one today if I can figure out for sure that it will work... It's a ASUS P8P67 PRO (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS in case the link doesn't work. I know it won't perform as good as if it were in a newer mobo, but still hoping it will be big improvement over my 560ti. Also, I run i5 2500k OC'd to 4.2 I believe. Thanks in advance for any help.

I recently installed a SSD and it replaced my HDD with FSX on it. I changed the registry etc and can operate FSX. The problem is that no matter what I do I just cannot get Fullscreen any more. I use DX10 ( with DX10 fixer) and all was fine until I now play. I used to be in fullscreen with DX10. I have searched hi and low for any help but it just will not go into fullscreen. I have tried alt/enter, clicking on View in FSX but nothing. If I try alt/enter or View I just get the pause activated and no view change. It is driving me mad, especially as i did not have this problem before when playing FSX on the old HDD. Yes the view change works in DX9 but I cannot work out wh…

Looking to upgrade my ASUS 24" 1980x1080 display with something around the 32" size... Maybe in $500-800 range? Any suggestions on what would be a good display for P3Dv2? I have an intel 3570K and ASUS GTX 980 3GB video card system. System is only used for P3D. Thanks in advance!

Hi folks! I've seen some pretty nice youtube videos on people having a triple monitor setup. That said, I know plenty of simmers simply just use a big flat screen TV. I mean, the range of view is extraordinary with a triple monitor setup, but how do you compare it? I will probably go for one of these setups one day, but now I'm really insecure... For instance, I'm currently using this 24 inch monitor from BenQ but it has rather thick edges so If I buy two identical monitors and put them next to each other, the gap between each monitor may be rather big. https://www.komplett.no/benq-24-led-gl2460/769329

Currently have a Dell Monitor with 1440x900 resolution and a GeForce 660 2GB Video Card. Thinking of upgrading the monitor to a LED with 1920x1080 resolution. Will I see a measurable difference in the graphic display? Wil FSX recognize the increased resolution in the settings? Any suggestions for overclocking the video card? Thanks for your input...Merry Christmas!

Hey guys. I purchased a 4K monitor, not just for FSX, but for multimedia. Native resolution is obviously much higher than 1080P. I am having issues with FSX now running in 1080. It seems like it is jagged and a bit blurry. It seemed to work fine on my 21" Alienware monitor. This monitor is a 28" from Dell. Do you guys have any suggestions? Running FSX at 4K res is possible but with only one GTX980 it is not practical for FPS.

Hello all, I'm currently looking at expanding my setup to three 21" HDMI monitors, all running side by side through a 3-port HDMI converter. This would be using the single HDMI output on the back of my AMD HD 6970. However, I would have to have my current screen, a 23", running from the same computer via a DVI port. Bottom line: I would (hopefully) have one desktop spanning across the three monitors, as well as another copy of the desktop on the 23" monitor. Would all of this be feasible? Also, would the three monitors be recognized as one monitor by the computer, given they would be running through a converter? Thank you in advance. Happy holidays!

Hi all Thought I would quickly share my experience. Have until not long ago been running FSX on a 2500K OC'd to 4.4ghz with a GTX660 Ti GPU. Things were ok'ish in FSX - medium/high settings, PMDG planes, FTX Global, UTX and a couple of UK2000 airports. The overclock was getting unstable as hardware was getting older so I upgraded to a 4790K processor a couple of months ago. I did this as it clocks at 4.0-4.4Ghz stock and I didn't want to go through the hassle of overclocking again (haven't the time these days!). My results have lately been disappointing and are perhaps worse than the 2500K I had been running. FPS in the PMDG 777 and UK2000 Heathrow have been s…

I play FSX. I had been running a GTX 660 for over a year without any problems. I bought a Gigabyte GTX 970. When it is working, it is working really well, am getting about 40 fps maxed out, when I would only get about 16 or so with the 660. The most it would do was drop the frames to about 10 in heavy scenery. What is happening now is that the 970 will mess up and start looking like the screen does when we win at solitaire in windows. it starts making trails and ends up freezing. Sometime the sky will also turn black, but the clouds and ground will still remain. I am hoping this is just a driver or settings issue. I have no idea how to describe this in a search.…

i have vsync in my cfg and i have done the batch file to make it work in windowed mode but my gpu load was really low, when i got into to uk2000 egkk with all the essential addons my frames were horrible and i am sure that the batch file worked because in the outside view in cruise it was steady at 29-30fps. The frame rate is much better in fullscreen mode for some odd reason because i tested it. My frames in fullscreen mode were 22-29 fps and i could hear my gpu fans but in windowed mode my frames would be at 15fps looking at the overhead panel in the AXE. I am thinking of upgrading to one of the new fancy 21:9 monitors but wish to use it as second monitor with my current 19:10 monitor. In the past I have found that dual monitor setups work best if both monitors have the same aspect ratio. In the proposed setup they would be quite different. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks. Current system... CPU i5-3570 - OC'd to 4.3Ghz Z77 Pro3 MoBo 8GB DDR3-1866 (in 2 sticks) GeForce GTX 650 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Running FSX on one monitor windowed mode with a second screen for misc stuff, I'm constantly at 95%+ GPU load. I'm not unhappy with the frames (avg 30+, though dipping to 20 when I really don't want it to), but I wonder how much I'm missing with better hardware and how much that is going to cost. Any thoughts?
